No more eating lots of pie, we're staying fit and wealthy...etc etc

Welcome to this seasonal healthy eating thread- all welcome, and the only fat birds will be the turkeys

Join the festive chat, and we'll keep each other on the straight and narrow!

Well, I didn't eat very much that was bad tonight.

Yank, with Christmas I think the plan should be to just choose the healthier option whenever there's a choice, and not have seconds or go overboard. Don't deprive yourselrf, but also don't throw caution to the wind and eat loads of crap. It's much easier to eat 500 cals extra per day for a few days than it is to eat 500 cals under per day.

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 16/12/2009 07:25

Morning all.

Kick Boxing was awesome last night. It was a different instructor and we were really put through our paces. Then I walked/jogged home as we ran over time and I missed the bus, so I am feeling virtuous and ready for anything today.

Yank..I would aim at just maintaining over Christmas rather than any loss or worrying about gain. I often lose weight over the festive season because I am with people and I think sometimes I snack more when I am on my own.

Sidles up to TWC....G'wan then, a little kiss, but no funny business..

Right, am going to throw buckets of icy water at the DC's.

SazzlesOnASled · 16/12/2009 07:51

Runs through for an announcement

I AM NO LONGER OVERWEIGHT

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 16/12/2009 07:57

Fabulous Sazz, that is brilliant and inspiring, you really deserve it as you have worked so hard.

LizzyLordsALeaping · 16/12/2009 08:08

Sazzles, Yay!
I was sooo impressed with your time for 10km, very fast, well done you.

Got DS2 all day today, we will be making/writing Christmas cards after the preschool party.

Starting to feel a litte bit more organised.

Weighed this morning and am now on a BMI of 25, so also not overweight, but am flabbier than I was as haven't been able to exercise. Planning lots of country walks over the Festive season to counteract the food and booze. May even try and fit some joggling running in as well.

Have good days all

hellsbelles · 16/12/2009 08:16

sazz & Lizzy - yeah yeah yeah - how fabulous! You are amazing.

Saz on the plumber. Alas I will be at work and the lady who looks after DD (who is beautiful but about 55 and happily married) will be here so hopefully safe. But I never get things like that anyway nowadays!

SazzlesOnASled · 16/12/2009 08:29

Thanks all and well done too to Lizzy

With the help of you lovely ladies i have gone from obese to normal and wouldn't have been able to do it without you nutters

FlamingoCrimbo · 16/12/2009 09:17

Sazz!!! You're a bloody inspiration!!!! Well done!

Maybe it's something about living where we both live?

And I agree - I wouldn't have been able to lose my weight without this thread either.

How much more do you want to shift to be comfortable you'll never be overweight again? I'm thinking 10lb or so will take me to the middle of normal.

My boobs have shrunk a bit - not sure if that's being further from having DD4 as I'm still bfing her; or because of the weight loss; or because of both. Either way, I need to go and buy new bras - shame

FlamingoCrimbo · 16/12/2009 09:22

And sorry Lizzy - only just saw your post too - was so excited about Sazzle's post I leapt to the bottom to type my response

This thread rocks! Well Done Lizzy! Blows my locality theory out of the water though .

hellsbelles · 16/12/2009 09:35

Flam - I suspect it is the weight loss. My normally very ample boobs did shrink when I did the south beach diet many moons ago (I was size 8 by the end of that ). And that was nothing to do with breast feeding.

Enjoy bra shopping (and of course you'll have to get the matching knickers too)

jinglejet · 16/12/2009 09:46

huge congrats to sazzles and lizzy It must feel so lovely

I am still undecided what to do over xmas. My next weigh in is the 22nd, and i did ponder the possibility of not taking the tablets for a week over xmas - it would be rude not to munch all the lovely chocolate But, then i think that that may ruin the good motivation i have had recently - so not too sure. Plus, when i am thinking sanely - i want to be healthier much more than i want a piece or five of chocolate

For now, lovely technical friend has sort of fixed junior's computer, meaning i can at least get online at home now - though still not as regular as when the laptop is here - i suppose she does need to do her homework lol! So, hopefully i will become a little more regular now

Hope everyone is ok

FlamingoCrimbo · 16/12/2009 09:51

Ooh! C O D wants to execute me!

Jet - how long after stopping taking them can you eat fats again? I, personally, would suggest not taking them for long enough and allowing yourself some treats on Christmas Day. It's only one day in the whole year. Start taking them again on Boxing Day. Post lots on here and we'll motivate you to start taking them again if that's your biggest concern.

I'm not an expert though.

TinselianAstra · 16/12/2009 09:51

Oooh, congratulations! New bras very exciting

jinglejet · 16/12/2009 10:01

i think its two days flamingo - so if i stopped on the 22nd - just after my weigh in, i should be ok for xmas day and boxing day. But, as girls are going to their dads on xmas day tea time, and not back for 2 days - i am worried over munching my way through the house trying to stop myself from being sad they're not here

And yes, i am slightly worried also that i will resort back to having a much easier (all be it) fatter life when i could eat what i want and not have to worry about the fat content So any motivational kick up the jacksie posts would be greatly appreciated

And i love shopping for new bras - now that i dont have to actually a huge thing from a specialist shop and can actually get them in asda

jinglejet · 16/12/2009 10:05

sazzles - just read your post about going from obese to normal (huge congrats again) - i checked my bmi and i am now just obese - not morbidly obese

LizzyLordsALeaping · 16/12/2009 10:14

Yay, well done Jet, that is fab.
As Flam says, give yourself a day/2 days off then get straight back onto it. Think of how good you feel now

Thanks for the congrats, but I have a long way to go, I am unfit and not toned. Certainly NOT a size 10!
I need to run again I think, but know it will be tough as I will have to start from scrathc again. I will have opportunity to build it back up between CHristmas and New Year, so hopefully that will help.
DH has lost weight as well, without even trying grrr, he looked fab when he got out of the shower this morning

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 16/12/2009 10:18

Morning ladies

Wow to Lizzy and Saz!! Fab news about not being overweight anymore, that is really amazing and it's pretty obvious you've both worked very hard to get there! High five

Iggi - my friend was married at Culzean Castle. It was absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. She had a banquet inside the castle and the reception in the stables which are done up as a party venue. They had a piper walk them from the castle to the stables, was beautiful Her photos were amazing with the coastal backdrop.

awastingamanger · 16/12/2009 10:27

Well done Sazz, Lizzy, Flamingo and Jet, you're all superstars!

Well done on the exercise last night Mitts.

Shiney, is the MNer on FB? You could message to see if she got it?

I'm not snogging TWC, but the rest of you can have a fondle.

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 16/12/2009 10:31

Jet - yes take a couple of days off but you must keep the motivation to get right back on them. I think I was telling you my SIL was on them and doing really well. She came off them to go to Egypt in November and hasn't been able to get up the motivation to get back on them and I hate to say it but she has put on a lot of what she lost and is in the cycle of being pissed off about it and eating to compensate being pissed off

Am totally not trying to give you a scare story, but just be careful and watch you don't lose all your wonderful, hard work. I wasn't sure whether to type that about SIL or not but it may help if you find yourself lacking the energy to get back on the wagon.

Maybe we could all set a date where we decide we are going to get back on the healthy eating again after the festivities? (well, those of us who are planning to get off the wagon for Christmas) I think my date would be the 2nd January, anything before that would be futile for me, nights out, Hogmanay dinner etc.

LizzyLordsALeaping · 16/12/2009 10:35

I will be hit and miss from this Saturday through to New Years Day, on days when nothing is on socially I will try and curb my eating and do some exercise.
Then I have a Burns Night Dinner thingy on 30th January that I'd like to look good for, so 2nd Jan will kick ass.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/12/2009 10:39

Sazzles and Lizzy - that is great news. Well done to both of you.

Jet - maybe stop untill 27th so you get Christmas and Boxing day over.

I chickened out of my weigh in this morning, DS is sickening so we came home from nursery drop off.

jinglejet · 16/12/2009 10:42

i think i will follow the general theme then, and stop on the 22nd, as that covers me till xmas day, and then start taking them the day after boxing day. I will try and eat healthily though - not just splurge for the sake of it Am conning convincing myself that i am simply seeing what my willpower is like without the threat of nasty side effects

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 16/12/2009 10:43

That's a great way to look at it Jet, like a test for a few days

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/12/2009 10:44

Syeeze - how are your mice this morning?

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 16/12/2009 10:58

No leaks so far this morning thanks fivegomad. I need to get DH to check under the floor to see if they've eaten any of the poison or if any of the traps are full I thought I heard the 'snap' of a trap last night so we shall see.....

The Rentokil man who came yesterday was one of those wee old guys with a million stories to tell....you know the type, he gets right in your personal space and constantly touches your arm when he is talking to you and you find yourself steeping back a bit to breath....and.....he had two fingers missing and I found myself over compensating by staring him in the eye as the missing fingers were freaking me out a bit....I didn't want him to think I was looking at them....he kept doing pointing motions as he was talking.....except there was no finger to point with.....he was really nice asides the over-exuberance, kept us fucking terrified amused for ages with all his horror vermin stories
