This is where Shiney should come in and give us all a code for Lakeland whuch means they send us all free stuff and make us directors of the company...

TinselianAstra · 20/12/2009 17:18

Yes please!

Oh I love lakeland - in a weird way - I imagine each of those magic gadgets will transform me into a wonderful cook.

Bella - I think it's all this massaging that is effecting your baking Bella

I used tia maria instead of coffee which is a big cheat but quite yummy! I have to leave it till t/m though (but I've put aside a huge portion for for kissing) to ensure it all seeps in fully.

About to light a fire and sit round it playing DS's board game of choice - cluedo ( he's 6 and subsequently something always goes slightly wrong but he still loves it beyond reason?!). DH and I better have a glass of wine to get us through it

i am in a bit of a quandry re clothes for xmas day. Are your DC getting all dressed up for the day itself??

Reason i ask, my lovely friend, who has two boys, loves clothes for girls lol, and keeps showing me lovely dressed for my two. But, trouble is, while i could afford the dresses at a push, they will then need new shoes, cardis etc to go with them - which makes it a tad more expensive, and i am wondering a bit pointless, if it is only to be worn 1 day.

Mini has a couple of dresses she has worn once that still fit her, one is white and gold, so very christmassy i think. So then, i would only need the little cardi (it is a sleeveless dress) and the shoes. She does have some lovely brown boots, but no dress for them (only other shoes are pink trainers), and i cant figure out whether to use allocated money on dress and/or shoes?

Junior - she has a lovely black dress, which again, she has only worn once - though it did come used from a friend. She looks really stunning it in, so slim and grown up. SHe is desperate for some new boots, so i am considering the idea of using her new dress money on some new boots?? But, a little voice in my head keeps saying no, she needs a new dress for the day

sorry to ask, but as you may have guessed by now, i am hopeless at making decisions

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 20/12/2009 17:35

I would go with the shoes/boots/cardi and would it stretch to a few accessories which would make the outfits a bit different?

Sleepisnotoptional · 20/12/2009 17:36

I have just come in from playing out in the snow. Aparantly ds came in nearly 3 hours ago and it long stopped being about ds building a snow man. The is a lovely giant rudolph in the front garden. Would still be out there but the snow was getting wet and i finally got wet and cold and a bit hungry. Baked potatoe in microwave.

Feel sooo much better for being out and playing.

Bella it is not age that brings up lakeland it is common sense. their stuff is good quality and is fit for the job they do. I have some fantastic jam making jam jars from there. but will admit i send my mum to fetch as we both know what it would be like if i step into a shop.... 6 hours later i might remember ds and the fact i need to leave.

BitOfFunderthemistletoe · 20/12/2009 17:41

DEM, did you see that jet wants your address?

jinglejet · 20/12/2009 17:53

i think i am thinking along the same lines Mitts, said to junior we would bling her up a bit

Glad you feeling a bit better DEM, i had a snowball fight with my two, and its amazing the adrenalin rush you get

VinegarTinselTits · 20/12/2009 17:54

Hells sounds lovely and cosy in your house

his nibs is fasto here, waiting for him to wake up and demand food

Sorry i cant help with dressing girls jet, i have no idea, i can dress a boy, easy, but girls, thats hard

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 20/12/2009 17:59

Hello

Jet - what size shoes is junior? I have a pair of gold ballet pumps unworn in size 3 that i bought for one of my bridesmaids but her mother decided she should wear heels (whole other story)

We have had mince pies, warmed in the oven with the top taken off and filled with brandy cream

Roast beef, yorkshire pud, roasties, peas and carrots for dinner

jinglejet · 20/12/2009 18:02

awww thanks ALice, but she takes after her mum and has huge feet - she is size 5-6

Tis ok though, i had put a little money aside, just couldnt figure out what would be of most use! There are some lovely boots she likes for £20, so that would actually save me money

jinglejet · 20/12/2009 18:04

vinny - it is so hard lol! One just wants anything that is pink and shiney, and which lights up if at all possible (re the pink trainers with flashing lights on) and the other just glances at everything offered to her and simply shrugs and says, "its alright"

FlamingoCrimbo · 20/12/2009 18:11

Jet - mine insist on dressing up, but they wouldn't do except for the fact that my mum buys their party dresses. They wouldn't have the chance to if not because we certainly can't afford them! Next year, get some Christmas party dresses, shoes and cardies on ebay cheap during the summer and hide them to give them on Christmas morning for a treat. That's what I think we'd do if we didn't have my mum!

Mince pies - DH burned a load last week - with my lovely homemade mincemeat , but he made some fantastic ones today. Very yum, yum, pigs bum!

Vinny - what an impossible and frustrating situation for you. I hope you manage to find a way round it. I just can't get over how selfish adults are when they use children like that.

DD3's birthday today - lovely party. Slightly manic but she had a lovely day. Off to make more handbags now

bellavita · 20/12/2009 18:11

jet, I am of no use either.. with two boys. But I sooo know what you mean - DS1 is a "its alright" kinda boy whereas DS2 he always knows what he wants and which shops he needs to go in. He likes Zara for boys.

Sleepisnotoptional · 20/12/2009 18:14

sorry disappeared to read through. will fb when i have checked the water level in bath. one mo.

Sleepisnotoptional · 20/12/2009 18:20

Done, jet sent message through FB. Now going for the lovely bath ds has run me before shoving ds into bed in a bit. catch ya later.

jinglejet · 20/12/2009 19:29

flamingo - i do that, but then cant resist giving them early, as cant wait to see them dress up and happy birthday to your DD

I think this time, for a massive change, junior is actually easier to buy for than mini, but never mind, have got one more shop planned, and if i cant find anything then, she will have her little brown skirt on which she loves (the only skirt she owns that fits her, as she is much more a trousers kind of girl) She loves twirling round in the skirt like a princess - oh to be young again

Stupid thing is, they are both getting clothes from their dads family - but i have no idea what they are!

Zara is nice

thanks DEM

LizzyLordsALeaping · 20/12/2009 19:35

Hello all.
I should be in Worcestershire, we managed to get to Northwich before we had to turn back, the M6 was a nightmare. DH drove really well in ice and snow, but it was a white out so you never know.
Stopped off at tescos on the way back and got some supplies, DS2 managed to walk up one aisle with his arse and dick out , which a helpful pensioner couple informed me of. He is obsessed, that boy.
Been home all afternoon and even managed a nap, how lovely.

Vinny, hope you get it sorted, I'd lend you money myself but am going to the cashpoint with one eye closed at the moment.

Hells, I bloody love Tiramisu, and Tia Maria.

BitOfFunderthemistletoe · 20/12/2009 19:45

DP has been doing that all day, Lizzylou. Glad I didn't try to go to the party now- we would still be stuck on the M6 now.

Bummer... I am AFing only two weeks after the last one, my stomach is so painful I just want to curl up in bed. I still have quite a bit to do, including house work.

Gah

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 20/12/2009 19:51

Which bit of Lizzy's post has DP been doing all day BoF? The mind boggles.

bellavita · 20/12/2009 19:58

I wondered that too Mitts

Am sat in the kitchen wrapping pressies up for my niece, nephew, grandad and parents. Of course the boys came in for a rummage.... they must think I am daft, I would never wrap their presents whilst they were down here.

Err Shiney, thanks for pointing out that I am old
