People of the world, join hands, join our TOTALly fabulous healthy eating thread.

We are a group of MNetters who wish we lost a pound for every post we have made on this thread since our benevolent leader started her SHINEY threads many, many months ago now.

I am Syc, and I was once deputy although life has slightly got in the way in the last month or so. But, inspired by our recent TOTAL yoghurt bonanza, I'm back and on the wagon.

Join us, we are a friendly bunch but like to waste as many calories as possible through moving our digits very swiftly over the keyboards and posting like women possessed

All denominations here, so whatever way you want to lose weight, maintain or just focus on healthier eating, you will fit right in.

Why is bella squatting in cupboards? Doesn't that usually only happen after drink has been consumed?

Shiney, I think I must have stolen your period- I haven't had one in four years, but lo, today, here it is! But are you sure you haven't mislaid any penguins lately?

jaquelinehydeTheBonfireToffee · 06/11/2009 23:23

Hello all

Sorry I haven't been around much. RL has suddenly become really good fun, and also I had to make a bargain with my DD1 - she'd watch less tv if I used the computer less , which could be the cause of our much more fun RL.

Anyway, I am stuck in a diet rut. I just can't get back on the wagon fully. I'm losing weight vvvveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy slowly and it's starting to get me down and I'm starting to pick at food again and slow it down even more .

I've got no motivation to run anymore. I really want to exercise, but can't find anything that really makes me want to go and do it like running did a while ago.

I really don't want to just say 'oh well, I've got to size 10, I'll just stop' when I know I want to lose another stone yet, and I really want to get rid of my jellybelly.

Also, now I'm having periods again, I am finding that I am losing a couple of pounds straight after each one and I'm wondering if I'm losing about the same amount as I'm gaining in water retention through my cycle and then losing the whole lot afterwards - but that means I'm only losing about 2lb per month, which is still quite frustrating.

Gah! Any motivational thoughts? Ideas for exercise that I might really, really want to do?

HELP!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/11/2009 08:10

FB.... Hi!

Just saying hi for now, I will reread your post when I have breakfast and see if I can think of anything.

FlamingoBingo · 07/11/2009 08:30

TMW - just read about your counselling! Well done! Glad it's going well

Shiny - CAN I HAVE YOUR PANTS?

Mummylin - welcome!

FlamingoBingo · 07/11/2009 08:31

Oh and YAY!!!! that AliBaba has returned

And how come Syc started then thread and then disappeared - hit and run!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/11/2009 08:35

Do any of the DC's have bikes FB? Could one of them cycle while you run? I used to enjoy this with both DC's and it can be a good way to get one to one time with them.

Diet, you have done brilliantly and it would be a shame not to reach your target after all your hard work. Do some sort of craft when you are bored and most likely to pick at food, or could you get the DC's to keep an eye on you.

You CAN do it and it is very easy to slip into old ways, but imagine that point when you reach your target weight and how brilliant you will feel. Look at what you are eating and ask yourself if you really want it as much as you want to reach your goal.

Go for it Girl, we all know you can do it, so here's a gentle boot up the bum and looking forward to your post to tell us that you did it!!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/11/2009 08:37

Yes, thanks to all for comments about the counselling, it involves Art Therapy as well which I am really enjoying.

I sang and danced this morning for the first time in ages ( on my own in my Jamas but hey, it felt good!)

FlamingoBingo · 07/11/2009 08:39

"Look at what you are eating and ask yourself if you really want it as much as you want to reach your goal."

That is such a helpful quote, TMW! Thank you.

They do have bikes, but can't ride without stabilisers, and I'm not sure could ride as far as I can run either . Sounds like fun though - will definitely do that when they've got the stamina!

I pick when I'm chatting and there's things to pick at. I eat seconds when the DDs leave bits on their plates (which I managed to stop doing initially). I don't go and forage for food like I used to, when I'm bored. Really, my biggest problem is seeing a stray biscuit, for example, and just eating it .

FlamingoBingo · 07/11/2009 08:40

Ooh - tell me more about the art therapy. I was recommended that by our hippy doctors. What do you do?

VinegarTits · 07/11/2009 08:55

Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day.......

Ds2 has woken up full of the joys and asking when can he go to his Daddy's i love the little rascal but i also love my time to myself weekends...

Right where is that Sally, i need to have a word with her about the natural healthy goodness in strawberries

And where is that cleaner, she missed a bit

VinegarTits · 07/11/2009 08:56

I meant doughnuts they are healthy and natural, its already been confirmed

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/11/2009 08:59

I was really sceptical FB, but the therapist gets you to relax and clear your mind, and then takes me on a journey, (talking through a certain scenario) and then she stops and tells me to draw the image that is in my head as a result. She then goes through the image and explores why that image is relevant.
I found myself talking about the death of my Grandad which I had found really harrowing, and also a lot about why I was so unhappy and what I wanted for myself from counselling.
I felt very emotional and although I didn't, like crying, but after I felt really calm and quite peaceful.
I am very impressed with it and her in general, she has gained my trust very quickly and I find it easy to talk to her.

Morning all.

Hey Mitts - therapy sounds

Had my yogga brekki with mango - was nice.

Have had a bit of a row with DH (we rarely row). Actually, I was nagging him and he told me (well shouted at me) to stop moaning. My brother (who lives nearly an hour away) is moving this morning. Because of my Dad's accident, he is unable to help my brother move. My brother does not have anyone else apart from his mate who is working till lunchtime which would have had to do if nothing else came up. I asked DH if he would help instead and he said yes. My brother wants to get started first thing and is picking the van up at 8.00am. DH is still sat here at 8.20 in his pj's on the laptop e-mailing - to do with the charity he volunteers for. I kept asking him to get a move on, then he tells me he doesn't know where he is going . I get the satnav out but because the old house is on a new development, it is not on the map. We have been there before, twice and I try and explain to DH where it is - he gets arsy. He tells me he is doing the favour and my brother will just have to wait . If this was to do with his stupid bloody charity, then he would have been up at the crack of dawn. I have a good mind not to make any more bloody cakes for it.

Right, rant over, as you were.....

(this will bubble inside me all day now and I won't be able to let it go, one of my traits)

bellavita · 07/11/2009 09:07

sounds good...

Lizzylou · 07/11/2009 09:21

Hello all, Hey FB! Listen to Mits, she is wise woman. You've done so well, keep at it.
Have had next to no sleep, on futon mattress next to DS2, DH got in at gone 2am and DS1 woke us at 5.45am.
Tonight will be in bed early.
DH was very tired and hungover this morning, I was getting ready for work and caught him just sobbing in the shower. About his Grandmother but also about how sad his parents were. I was shocked really, I think his hangover may not have helped tbh, but he needs some TLC at the moment.

Bella, that sounds just like our house! I am always getting told off for nagging, but if I didn't nothing would get done.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/11/2009 09:23

You could tactfully point out that you are more than happy to make the cakes and try not to ask for 'favours' in return but that this was an exception. It is horrible relying on other people and still wnating to get on, so your bro must frustrated. Sounds like you need to get your point of view heard.

I have only ever seen DH cry once and that was after his dad's funeral. He may have done it in private I suppose..

Lizzy, do you hold grudges though like me? or do you pretend that it never happened and just carry on?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/11/2009 09:25

Morning All, 'tis lovely here today!

Lizzy - ooh thank you . I think we are friends on FB, or if not then I know who you are!

How is DH getting on with his new job?
WRT to the weight loss - at least the scales are still going down and you are recognising the little bad habits that are creeping in.

TWM - that is a really good little quote, I will try and think of that next time I am faced with temptation.
