Getting the Mirena Coil taken out was the best thing I have ever done!

Following reading lots of posts about the Mirena Coil, I just wanted to say that 9 months after I had it put it in, I had put on nearly 2 stone and despite running 4 miles a day and watching what I was eating I couldn't shift the weight. Looking at posts on Mums Net encouraged me to have it removed. I had it taken out on a Monday lunchtime, by the Tuesday morning my bloated tummy had gone down - my husband (and neighbour who is a nurse) were shocked at the visible difference. by the Friday I had lost nearly a stone in weight and over the next few weeks I had lost a further stone. 3 months on since having it taken out I feel normal and slim again. Thank you all the Mums netters whose threads convinced me to get the damn thing taken out!

Right was taken out it had actually moved and dr reckons womb is inhospitable environment for a 3rd coil!

Haven't tried mini pill but I expect it would be same as normal pill too fat to take it!!

So I'm stuck think celebacy is the only way to go! if thrush and itchy punanny don't subside soon I won't have to worry (angry) (sad)

I had Mirena Coil fitted to help with very heavy periods after my forth C section and was sterilised at this time ..First 1 was in for 9yrs 2nd for 6yrs as it was gynae reasons not protection and was still working as I am period free ..oh its been great ...I have put on about 4 stone over the last 15yrs and even on 1200 calories per day still can't loose weight and do a lot of dog walkin, work full time on my feet and swim weekly ..I am about to have this 1 change after nurse unable to see thread so had hospital scan to find coil still there now need to get it removed HOW I don't know yet , but I think I will leave the next 1 out for a few months and see just how heavy periods are and if I loose any weight ...the information on here has been great in makin my decision ..thank u

Mine is coming out this month, after nearly six years (dont ask - they can't get the bastard thing out!) I agreed to have another one, hence having it removed at hospital under sedation but i have changed my mind - i dont want it, but i feel that i will have to because of all the "hassle" i have put them to. Blush I just don't know what to do, i get awful PMT and haven't had a period in five years but since having the coil fitted have been diagnosed with depression (although i think i was depressed before i had it) and was put on ADs. Put on FOUR STONE in weight and just cannot shift it. My tummy feels generally heavy and i only made that connection from reading it on this thread (what an idiot). I was asked if i suffered from depression when i had it fitted, i said no (i was in process of diagnosis at time). I am actually terrified because im sscared that if i dont have another one and my PMT comes back worse or i just go gaga without it, they wont let me have another one :( I truly don't know what to do. I hate that i dont feel i have control over my own body

lucyellensmum, I would go with the decision you want to make and not worry one bit about any 'hassle' you've put the doc/hosp through. It's not easy to make a choice what with all the pro/cons. Just please yourself is my advice. If your PMT does come back then you can face that prob if and when it does. I had just about made my mind to have a Mirena after reading some really good feedback on another MN threat. Now I've decided not to go ahead after reading all of this one! I was really worried about just about everything that is mentioned and have decided to abandon ship.

Had my coil taken out today after having in for around a year , put on 4 stone .always moody and no interest in sex what so ever , I have 5 kids including twins so that was never a problem before lol and I was always down to a size 10 within a few weeks of giving birth . My youngest is 3 .only happened when coil put in .I thought I was going crazy at times .
I had enough of people asking me if I was pregnant or when I was due ...my stomach has gone down slightly already !! .but the pain in taking out was the worse thing I have been through ( and I gad my twins with no painkillers, naturally and both breech at 36 weeks ) !! I would go through that ten times over that have it again
Had to have a scan to locate it as they had lost it !!! Then had to cut through to find it .they finally got it out after 2 local anaesthetics .it was upside down and cracked !!! Worse thing I ever had !! ..x
