Revolutionaries of The Shiney Path - The Gorillas In Our Midst Eat Healthily

Welcome to our 22nd Healthy Eating thread under the auspicious eye of Shiney the Cult Leader. She is vegetarian (like a gorilla), but you don't have to be! Or hairy!

I may be getting distracted by my over-cryptic thread title (it is hard when all the obvious ones have been done- fwiw The Shining Path are a South American guerrilla group and I'm looking at watching Che on dvd later, what can I say...), but I have been appointed Tsar With Authority for Titles, and starting this on a Friday night may be ill-judged, BUT...

We are here with the aim of eating healthily, losing weight in varying amounts if that is what we wish, and most of all posting as often as we're able to support each other. We have a good laugh too. Allegedly. But we're no trouble, no siree...

New-comers very welcome, just introduce yourselves and pile in!

Who are you then? Are you an imposter on our thread?????? [suspicious look]

Lizzy - thanks for asking. He's much better. We all are, thank you. It actually works out quite well for us. Less responsibility and stress. My mum has decided to 'pay' for the children's education...except their home educated but I can stomach the pay outs easier if it's in that form! So we won't be any worse off. And, funnily, because of the perks you lose as a manager - you don't get the same bonuses etc., not until the store goes into profit - he's actually going to be earning more than his co-manager who only got demoted to ass man and who, we think, has right royally stabbed DH in the back. Nice bit of karma there!

We've decided to use the whole thing as a catalyst to change our lives - something we've talked and talked about for ages. So now our mantra is 'feel the fear and do it anyway'. We're going to move house to where we really want to live, and then take real stock of our lives and try to address our work-life balance so we are happy. DH is out of the house too much for our liking and we'd prefer to have less money and more DH time than we have now.

Sorry for that essay! Project is underway - we are readying the house for putting on the market. We have got the go ahead for transferring our mortgage so we don't have to raise a deposit. As soon as the house looks nice, we'll get it valued. We're very excited. We had planned to wait a couple of years, so it's kind of good that all the shit happened - it's making us do it now rather than faffing around and putting it off.

Yay FB! Glad to hear that you are kicking ass

Lenin, I have wine chilling for when boys are in bed, couldn't have any yesterday as was too hungover from Friday, but may have been easier to deal with my Mom if I had supped some.

FlamingoBingo · 04/10/2009 18:33

God I'm so thick . That should have said 'except they're home educated'. I am actually good at grammar, believe it or not!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 04/10/2009 18:51

I survived...there are strangely NO DOGS in cruellas 'my mother in laws' village .

After 15 yrs of being together and her incessantly discussing ''H's'' exes, he finally asks....'why do you think my mum goes on about my ex girlfriends all the time?'

Dunno, maybe she never liked me.

I was calm and dignified and serene....

It is sooooo good to be back in my little house.

BewareTheFullMoon · 04/10/2009 18:51

got sucked into MN world. I am not here. I am writing my essays all five for friday.....

slimey - docs tomorrow?

SqueezyCheese · 04/10/2009 19:22

Good for you flamingo! I saw something on Eastenders (yes, I know) the other night. It was like "better to have a little fear than a lot of regret" and related to taking a chance and doing something rather than not doing it because of 'what might' happen Good for you!

BewareTheFullMoon · 04/10/2009 19:24

What have you done this time shiney? Alter egoing again...

daftpunk · 04/10/2009 19:25

hi everyone...

shineon...stop worrying, you haven't done anything wrong...

BewareTheFullMoon · 04/10/2009 19:26

ahhhhhhhhhhhh. got it u've been on that thread that is disecting the events of the other night. and red lights is an imposter.
tut tut probably a wise move that.

FlamingoBingo · 04/10/2009 19:28

Tell me all about your illing, shiney? I have not been on this thread enough to know what's going on.

Lizzylou · 04/10/2009 19:28

Shiney, DP's right, you've done nowt to be worried about.
It's so strange, like having a veil lifted from over your eyes, NOW I completely see it, and I think everyone else does too. But I believed her and was upset for her, what about all those poor posters who were supporting her who'd lost children?
So, I think you've done totally the right thing.
Must be your training, Ms Super Sleuth, cos I fell hook line and sinker.

bibbitybobbityCAT · 04/10/2009 19:31

Yes, I think I will be joining you Slimey, nice of you to ask. I have stacks of weight to lose thanks to my two lovely dc and 7 serious attempts at giving up smoking and my profound hatred of all physical activity.

Will think of a plan and join up tomorrow.

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 19:32

flamingo - don't know the whole background but agree that sometimes a huge change make a massive difference. I used maternity leave to set up a business and it changed our lives.

Sometimes being hauled out of the 'comfort zone' (I hate that expression but can't think of a better term)....gives the impetus to do something that changes the drudgery into something special.

Lenin - I'm like you - I think I just need to be slightly healthier and it'll make a huge difference. Unfortunately have just discovered the waitrose 'seriously' desert range and that is having a rather horrendous effect on my will power.
