Welcome to what may be our 21st Healthy Eating thread!

We take it with varying levels of seriousness- in fact we are a pretty light-hearted bunch generally, but we do support each other, whether we are trying to lose a little (or a lot of) weight, or just get fitter.

Shiney is our Glorious Leader , ably backed up by the ass-kicking Sycamoretree and many other lovely regulars.

Come and join us- post as much as you can and join in the fun, nay, the phenomenon that is the Shiney thread

My DS is 11, and DD is 6, I have two gorgeous DSS's.

Jet has mentiones 2 DD's but I can't recall any more.

How are you feeling shiney? could you try one of those iron/vitamin supplements? Umm Floradix or summat?

I have no idea what I have eaten today...and no particular exercise apart from school walk and running round after DD and her friends, and getting my stockings snagged on a branch rescuing one of them from a tree.

Been to Cooplands. I don't do that whole 'starting being good on Monday' thing.

Two hour walk though.

Hello! (

VictorMeldrew · 28/09/2009 19:29

i'm here

still grumpy arse victor today

Salsavita · 28/09/2009 19:44

Hi everyone

Sazz, yes I wore my old new shoes today, but for some reason by knee doesn't like high heeled shoes and I have hobbled all afternoon! I have a follow up appointment tomorrow with the surgeon. DH thinks it shouldn't even hurt now as keyhole surgery is supposed to be less invasive! Although it does say on the aftercare that I would feel moderate discomfort for up to three months. If he thinks he is getting out of the ironing then he has another thing coming

Had a tomatoey prawn pasta dish for tea which was lovely. I must fess up though to having a glass of red too.

Aww VT, why are you still grumpy?

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 28/09/2009 20:08

Hey VT, what's wrong...

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 28/09/2009 20:09

Hi Bella.....

StrictlySazz · 28/09/2009 20:15

Bella - i think mine took a few months to recover fully and that was with intensive physio. It still hurts now if i wear heels for too long, walk too far up hills with the heavy double buggy etc. However mine was a full reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament so may have been a bit more invasive than yours.

Hi VT, Shiney, Wasting

I have had a very small bowl of pasta, steamed salmon and creme fraiche with parsley. I am not being majorly virtuous though as i had a few nibbles and a beer at the 3rd birthday party this avo. No cake though

I too have wine

Salsavita · 28/09/2009 20:24

Hi to you too TMW

Sazz - the cartilage was completely torn.. so not sure if that is the same as yours? I have had no physio by a professional - was just given exercises to do.

StrictlySazz · 28/09/2009 20:27

I had mine done privately with a surgeon very keen on accelerated recovery techniques. I had a lot of pilates type stuff to improve my core muscles and get me walking upright and properly

Could you go back to your doc, make a fuss about it still hurting and get a physio referral?

Salsavita · 28/09/2009 20:31

Sazz - I went private too (with supposedly one of the top knee surgeons). I permanently walk with a limp. I sometimes wonder if DH thinks I am putting it on. We went into York on Sat and I was exhausted by the time we got back. My body is 2 miles in front of my leg and I just cannot get it to go any faster. I commend anyone who has a physical disability that they have to put up with all the time, they must feel drained.

Hello all, revision over for another day and now the mammoth task on catching up here .

Sorry to hear you're still crook shiney, don't know what to suggest really, hope you're feeling better soon.

I have managed not to snack too badly this evening however I had a HUGE bowl of pasta for tea and then another HUGE bowl of home made rice pudding made with coconut milk, milk (semi-skimmed!) and creme fraiche . So a mixed bag really. Have upped my water intake and spoke to someone about wanting to start running again...

Right, off to catch up properly.

StrictlySazz · 28/09/2009 21:20

Definitely go for some physio then i would say, although check how much is covered on your policy as mine had a limit IIRC. When is your follow up appointment?

Mavis, well done on talking about running - it is all positive steps

Shiney, you are reminding me of the poorly sicky boy in the Secret Garden . My MIL would swear by Echinacea (sp?) but seeing as i ignore most of hers i can hardly expect you to follow it

Salsavita · 28/09/2009 21:27

Mavis - I love rice pudding

Sazz, the follow-up appointment is tomorrow. Yes, there is a budget on the consultations and having x-rays and stuff, but luckily, the budget for this renews on the 1st October, so I could ask for physio.

MavisGrind · 28/09/2009 21:28

Sazz, that's right - Shiney - do you have mice nesting in a cushion?

StrictlySazz · 28/09/2009 21:29

Well definitely go for it then. And lay it on thick how much it hurts doing daily stuff. Not that you have to exaggerate too much by the sound of it

SycamoretreeIsVile · 28/09/2009 21:30

Erm, hi. Remember me?

I'm getting fatter by the day, oh dear! Roll on October 5th!

I have worked all day today, using Westfield as my office (I kid you not).

I got very messy in Bournemouth at a Hen Weekend.

I ate too many sausages and chips.

I drank too many shots (WFT??? Last time I did that I was 23 and in Faliraki).

Now, have you all done the TOTAL YOGHURT SURVEY??? Lol, I think it's clear which MNetter deserves to win that prize, don't you????

Salsavita · 28/09/2009 21:32

Syyyyyyyyyyyyyyycccccccccccccccccc

Yeah, I should win it don't ya think!!

Sounds like you had a great time.

What is Westfield?

Sazz, I will bring the matter of physio up

BitOfFun · 28/09/2009 21:33

Evening all- have had shitey internet connection today ans now my set-top box has completely died so I am utterly without tv too

Am resorting to crappy dvds until I can spend an hour on the phone and be fobbed off by the robbing twats tomorrow
