Welcome to what may be our 21st Healthy Eating thread!

We take it with varying levels of seriousness- in fact we are a pretty light-hearted bunch generally, but we do support each other, whether we are trying to lose a little (or a lot of) weight, or just get fitter.

Shiney is our Glorious Leader , ably backed up by the ass-kicking Sycamoretree and many other lovely regulars.

Come and join us- post as much as you can and join in the fun, nay, the phenomenon that is the Shiney thread

Just bought tiger bread. What is it exactly? Sunny here, might try to go for a cycle (a leisure cycle rather than the daily trying-to-get-somewhere cycle) once hangovers are under control.

I always think I want culinary gadgets wasting - right now I'm stopped by the lack of space in the kitchen. I think I want an icecream maker, and a breadmaker, and a slowcooker, but I wouldn't actually use them would I?

i wish i could find money and/or shoes at the back of my wardrobe

Well, girls have gone to their dads, they will be back in an hour or so. I am having not such a good day though, as got copy of letter from mediator yesterday, which was also sent to my ex. In it she mentions my depression, as well as stating that the friend who comes with me to mediation (and who my ex thinks i just a friend) is also my support worker. I so didnt want ex to know that my depression was so bad that i need a support worker, as i know he will use it against me. So much for everything said in our little room being confidential.

I am now extremely anxious that he will say something to juniorjet, as she also doesnt know. Its not that i am ashamed of it - but she has enough to worry about without worrying about me IYSWIM.

I feel like getting said support worker to ring them tomorrow and blast them

VictorMeldrew · 27/09/2009 16:02

Thats awful jet

Think you should ring the support worker, most definitely

Tis me Shiney, i have such an awful hangover today

Salsavita · 27/09/2009 16:15

Oh jet for you.

Shoes were also a bargain too! They should have been £80 and I got them for £20. I heart Fenwicks in York, have had some good finds from there.

jetonthedancefloor · 27/09/2009 16:20

Salsa - i heart the Next sale! Its the first time i have been, and got junior loads of clothes and saved a fortune!! We have a Fenwicks in Newcastle, in the posh corner, as John Lewis is oppositep I love mooching about in there!

Salsavita · 27/09/2009 16:29
jetonthedancefloor · 27/09/2009 16:39

thanks salsa. Think it may need to be more than gentle though - there's plenty padding

On the jeans front - there is good news and bad news with my lovely Next jeans off loaded kindly dontated to me by my sister. ) They now fit, fastened and everything But, the bad news - they are too long lol, so still cant wear them until i get them taken up!

I need to take Juniorjet's new Gap jeans to the sewing shop, as she cant do the button (usually she just pulls up and down fastened, but these are a slim fit) so i am hoping they will be able to fasten some elastic onto the button or something so she can get them on and off. Will take my jeans at the same time. God i am waffling now - sorry

wastingaway · 27/09/2009 17:19

Oh Jet, for you. Excellent jeans news though!

Trill, I don't use the slow cooker I have, lost heart after an early veg stew catastrophe, but my breadmaker is used regularly, daily when I'm on the ball. I use it occasionally for pizza dough too. It's a massive piece of machinery though.

I've been for Sunday dinner this afternoon, lovely roast lamb, and I've got the leftovers. Will look at recipe for shepherds pie in Economy Gastronomy cookbook for tomorrow.

jetonthedancefloor · 27/09/2009 18:30

well, just had tea and it was a very healthy tortilla wrap with chicken, lettuce and tomato. First time i have ever made one and it was delicious! Was just trying them out for junior, as now she has had to go on packed lunch, i need something more exciting that the jam sandwiches she normally asks for

I have a slowcooker, and often do casseroles in it, but need to be more adventerous, according to the numerous slow cooking books i have got

Dare not trust myself with a breadmaker, as i absolutely love homemade bread, freshly baked smothered in butter! I dont think that would fit with my low fat diet

Oh Jet, I am sorry, you do sound as if you are doing quite well, and thinking how you can face the challenges.
It is a blow but with the right advice and support I hope it can be turned in your favour. You obviously recognise that you need support and are doing what you need to move in the right direction, that is enormously positive and surely must be a massive credit in your favour.

If he does mention it to juniorjet, you could say the same sort of thing....yes Mum does need help, but it is so that in the long run 'we' will be a stronger unit and you can be a more confident individual and Mum...

So yah-boo sucks to him...

NormaSknockers · 27/09/2009 18:45

Evening all,

Well my plan to not eat at the party went utterly tits up & I stuffed So, SO stupid of me, don't know why I do it, I carried on even when I wasn't hungry - I'm such a flaming idiot

Bugger, bugger, bugger!

It's going to be tricky tomorrow as off to the inlaws for dinner in the evening so no idea how many points it will be so may have to skip breakfast!

How is everyone?

Salsavita · 27/09/2009 19:13

Kerry, sounds like you are not eating enough - as strange as that might sound. Can you plan your meals for the week ahead?

jetonthedancefloor · 27/09/2009 19:18

thanks TMW - junior thinks that friend/support worker is there to help with minijet - as she can be a handful It helps that she is quite young and very trendy, so junior loves her! She came shopping with us yesterday, and it was such a lovely change to see junior not twisting every time she had to try something on

The drop off tonight didnt go very well, as he forgot minijet's coat (the only other coat she has is a thick duffle coat, and it is too warm for that). So when i walked down to the meeting point to pick them up (he is not allowed at my house) i couldnt walk back up with them as mini only had a t-shirt on. So he started having a go, accusing me of being funny with him, when all i wanted to do was walk away and get in the house. So i took minijet, but he then started calling me to junior, saying why was i having a go, why wouldnt i stand and talk to him etc etc. So junior then got upset.... and from what i can gather, spoilt the end of quite a nice day. Bloomin typical. So now i will have to go and buy minijet a new coat, as he wont drive back down to drop it off

But, apart from that Norma, i am fine - thanks for asking

Kerry, i agree with Salsa. Before i started trying to eat properly, i would have very little during the day, and end up starving by teatime.

Nowadays i am making sure i eat breakfast, even if it is only little, something for lunch and then tea, often with snacks inbetwee. Seems to be working so far.....

NormaSknockers · 27/09/2009 19:25

Oh Jet what a PITA - he really is a major shit you are well bloody rid!

Sorry that's of no help at all is it, just so for you! Is JrJet less upset now?

Salsavita · 27/09/2009 19:26

Cos your body is holding on to the "fat" in retaliation Kerry!

Sorry you are having a crap time of it jet.

TrillianAstra · 27/09/2009 19:27

Norma - don't beat yourself up about the party, one day is not going to ruin everything, it's happened now so try to move on.

I have just calculated and we cycled 20 miles this afternoon, wow! I would possibly not have signed up if I'd known it would be that far, but we got to one village and I thought 'let's do a bit more' so we did.

Who is VictorMeldrew and why?

jetonthedancefloor · 27/09/2009 19:27

yeah she's fine thanks norma. I explained to her why i walked away - to avoid an argument, and that we can discuss it at mediation. She seemed ok after that - and she really did enjoy seeing her aunt, uncle and grandad (probably her dad as well, but i dont think she feels able to say that to me yet!)

NormaSknockers · 27/09/2009 19:28

Same here - used to eat barely anything during the day & come the evening I would binge! I go for 3 meals a day with healthy snacks in between if I'm peckish. I always try a glass of water first though as often get thirst confused with being hungry
