well that was a wake up call!!

peter is at harefield now, again i am sitting here waiting to find out if its gonna happen this time (3rd time lucky??)

no idea puff. after the heart is collect and dh is in the hospital (sometimes before) the surgeons will have a look at the donor heart and assess it. they will reject it if its not good enough condition. it could just not be good enough or it could be that during transportation it isnt good enough.

sometimes it might be too big or small, something simple like that

I know with heart and lungs the main problem was that they would fill up with fluid before the transplant iykwim and make it unviable

only just seen this thread - sorry this wasn't the one.........it WILL happen though - that's 3 times in a relatively (probably feels like years for you) short space of time, some time soon the right heart is going to come up

Sorry it didn't happen again misdee. It will - it will. Just so hope for you all that it's not too long a wait. Have to say that since I've been reading all your posts about your DH I've now got a doner card and am registered on the NHS doner register. Not planning on dying just yet but would like to think that if I did someone else could have a healthy heart etc.

Glad he's home again - sorry to have missed this earlier and to hear it wasn't the right heart for Peter, but like Fio says, we all want a perfect heart for him and this one just wasn't it. Sorry you're all going through such a rollercoaster ride with it all though.

they wanted to change his meds. but he got home about 6pm, just havent had much chance to update.

really sorry to hear you went through this ordeal again misdee. My computer has been broken for a few days and I just got it back on tonight. I thought of you and did a search to see if there had been any news of another transplant.
