For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

A lady has just started doing the baby disco thing here. But she has chosen to do it in a club. My god the floors in clubs are RANK, and don't get me started on the toilets ....

I always think of when Jude Law's little girl picked up an E at the same sort of thing and ate it. Horrific.

Apart from that I think they're a really good idea. Actually a party we are missing tomorrow (because of BL's impetigo) is a disco in a community centre.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 09:50

oh gawd did that really happen? oh dear
the place i have in mind for it is a club, but i assumed it would be well cleaned after each event! rather naively

I wouldn't trust that to be the case tbh, Franny. Find a nice village hall instead.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 09:55

gah
i work in a village hall
you really could not make it feel like a disco in there

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 10:02

Hmm, well, maybe choose a club wildly far from any kind of event that might have drugs, like um, er, working men's club?

Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 10:03

What about one of those places where they have children's discos, or a small venue that does wedding receptions.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 10:08

"What about one of those places where they have children's discos, or a small venue that does wedding receptions"

what you mean like a....church hall?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 10:09

anyway i suspect the venue may not be the hard part
i need to find a dj
you would think this would be easy but apparently we don't know any djs
i can't imagine why they would want to be doing other things rather than hang around with middle aged parents

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 10:10

there is a local arts centre where they did one a few years ago as a one off
however i thought doing it in a nightclub was funnier

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 10:14

No, we have party venue here that either does ball pools and a bouncy castle for younger parties, or discos for older ones.

Some places specialise in wedding receptions don't they? I imagine them to have a sort of wheel out disco with D.I.S.C.O first in line.

Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 10:15

It would probably be fine in a nightclub. However, we have had a bad experience of dd picking something up in a tent where teenagers had been staying so I am uber cautious now.

Boco · 28/06/2009 12:53

I think a club would be great. i don't think clubs have loads of drugs littering the floor usually do they - it must be very very incredibly rare, or clubbers wouldn't buy them, they'd just take a torch and look about on the floor. DD2 would love it, she absolutely loves dancing - at my sister's wedding she danced to cheesy 80's music for about five hours, quite a lot of that was all by herself, she got some moves.

TooTicky · 28/06/2009 12:54

Boco you make me

Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 13:23

Well, clubbers don't tend to crawl around on the floor putting things in their mouths though do they?

Actually don't answer that.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2009 13:24

"clubbers wouldn't buy them, they'd just take a torch and look about on the floor."

Guadalupe · 28/06/2009 14:40

I'm sure it is rare, but it's just that teeny bit more likely than somewhere where people haven't been doing it the night before, and unless you are going to personally clean it each time then I wouldn't take the risk, personally.

You could always have it at your house, Franny. That would be fun. A perma disco set up ready to roll.

I must go to Notcutts. I need a strimmer whizzer thingy whatever they are called.
