Part of this I have copied & pasted from another thread to save retyping.

I have posted several threads over the last week about DS - long story short - fever off and on since last Sunday, cough since last Thursday, tummy ache since Saturday - on which day me and DH came down with same virus apparently. Been to see GP now 3 times and out of hours doctor once. This happened a couple of hours ago:

I am so upset. A while ago DS sat on his potty and did a wee and poo and he stood up and the liquid was crimson red - blood. We took him and potty contents to GP - phoned first thinking they might want to come to us as we are clearly contagious but our bitch horrible evil GP said to come to her (she isnt horrible for that she is just always horrible)

Anyway she looked at it and said "oh yes, blood" and sent us away with some pots for him to pee and poo in, to drop off to the surgery tomorrow morning, results 3 days after that! I just dont feel like they are taking us seriously at all. I hate my GP. We all have a bad flu, it isnt getting better, now DS has peed blood and surely something else should happen. I am so upset. I just got home from GP and phoned NHS direct, they are about to call me back. I just dont know what to do.

Our area doesnt have an emergency care unit. So it is A&E or GP and GP is just bizarrely uninterested. But I know the flu advice is not to go to A&E, understandable! I will see what the NHS Direct nurse says when she phones back.

I really need someone to talk to me about this and give me some perspective so I will bump til someone sees it, sorry but I have never seen DS's wee like that it has really upset me after a week of illness & tummy aches to just be sent home.

I should say he did eat a couple of pieces of beetroot last night but he has eaten it before (without it turning his wee red) and it was around 7:30 last night and he has done many many wees since then. So I think it being caused by the beetroot.

Right just spoke to nhs direct nurse who said she thought the beetroot causing it was unlikely as it wasnt that much, and it was the better part of 24 hrs ago, the red was so dark crimson etc. She said we could take him to A&E now or wait and see what his next wee is like. Meanwhile he seems ok at the moment, he is playing outside with DH. His mood is one minute fine the next minute angry and throwing things and hitting which he hasnt done in ages. DH and I have the flu. What should I do?

Can I just say that if my dh saw blood in my dc's urine, he would be carting them straight off to A&E or the walk in centre that we have here. He would not have a moments hesitation or in failing that he would be on the phone to get an emergency appt with the doctor.

To be honest I am grateful to him a lot of the time for making those decisions. One time I was in agony, yet stupidly didn't want to bother anyone and he carted us all off to the walk in centre. Turned out I needed my gall bladder removed which was done 2 weeks later.

I am sorry you are all so poorly at the moment and I really hope you get better. It is better to be safe than sorry especially with your children's health and if you're not happy with the doctor seek a 2nd opinion.
