have had an awful feeling recently that my DD may have CP, if any one has any experience would you mind reading the first post on my previous thread and let me know what you think. TIA. She was born by cs and not breathing by herself.

when u say she sits on her shins, is it a kneeling postions?

yes, she seems to stand on awkwadly on one foot, as if she is almost standing on the inside of her ankle.

do they form a W shape? hard to explain.

I really think you need to speak the GP. ask to see a physio as well. i'll get mieow to pop by this thread, and she can advise some more.

and although she can bend her knees, she often seems reluctant too. i notice this more when she is in the buggy

iknow what you mean, yes it is a 'w' shape when she sits.

not long now then. mieow knows more about CP than me (2 of her children have it) and can advise more.

Hi, Children with CP w-sit because the tenons in the legs muscles are too tight and it hurts to sit normally, My DS could only sit in a normal position for about 30 seconds before he fell to the left. I remember the Physio wakling into our house for the first time and she said it was classic Spastic Diplegia (a form of CP) just from seeing Ds sit in his w position.
I knew that Ds had CP when he was about 18 months old, but had known there was a problem a long time before that, but it still took the hospital till he was 2 1/2 to diagnose him. My DD1 was diagnosed at 13 months old.
May I ask how your Dd crawls? Isd it flat to the floor or normal crawling??

she crawls fine, though not as fast as her sister

I would ask your GP to refer you to the hospital and discuss your concerns with someone there. Normally a MRI scan will pick up any damage and therefore a dignosis of CP can be made.

thanks sparklymieou, she does have an appointment with the physio dept, so i will take it from there and i will mention my concerns about CP

now i am even more worried, Twin 1 started walking today, i was told her walking would delayed due to her being in a hip spica, they are 17 months now so i assume that is the delay, the problem is twin 2 is'nt walking, although she tries and she had no problem with her hips.

they were 3.5 & 3.5 1/2

twin 2 was the smaller one and still is , now be a couple of LBs

Babies born below 5lbs are at risk of CP, and also being premature increasing the chances. My Ds was 5lb 2oz, and Dd1 was 3lb 12oz. Ds was born at 35 week and Dd1 31 weeks. Did they have a bleed in the brain or o2 problems?? Was their head checked with ultrasound when they were in SCBU??
