Following on from that other thread , here is somewhere we can discuss our less than perfect fanjos and swap tena lady anecdotes.

I'm the same if my bladder gets to full things are desperate
I can run though but serving in tennis is a nightmare (ooh that sounds very surrey doesn't it)
I have been doing pfes for ages am thinking of going to see a physio privately

fircone · 21/04/2009 12:04

I was referred to a clinic after ds was born - but the clinic was 20 miles away! I went once. It was a flippin' test of my bladder to travel 20 miles, carry a heavy baby seat into the hospital, try to find an incredibly discreetly-placed clinic, whilst all the time pirouetting on one toenail I was so desperate to wee.

suwoo · 21/04/2009 12:13

Its a bit depressing this thread isn't it .

Very! Let's have some "I was successfully fixed" stories to cheer us all up.

ouchitreallyhurts · 21/04/2009 12:22

ooh yes - wonderful thread!!! I'm so glad you've done this in response to the thread that made me want to scream and swear yesterday!!!

well, here I am 5 days after a pelvic floor repair, still sitting on a tena because my bladder is still seemingly mocking me.

have lost all sensations down there now so even if I am PMSL I wouldnt' know!! nightmare!

anyone else hide when its time for the 'mums race' at dc's sports day?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 21/04/2009 12:22

fircone - i'm like that. i'm due in a week and still sick occassionaly. i just strip off now and put a towel down. the sad thing is that i can't even feel it happening!

ouchitreallyhurts · 21/04/2009 12:23

sorry perma - crossed threads there - I think I might be successfully fixed, just waiting for it to all return to normal! fingers (and legs) crossed xx

suwoo · 21/04/2009 12:25

Ooh ouch, you'll have to keep us updated on this thread. Thats what worries me purplemonkey, that I can't even feel it.

Anyone, positive stories anyone?

Thanks for posting Ouch - did you have the TVT? Really hope it works for you. I have been told I can have it once I have finished my family - I am very happy with my 2 dcs and am pretty sure that's it but as am still technically of childbearing age (am 41 but loads of people round here are having 2nd or 3rd dc at this age) and you never know what's round corner I haven't gone ahead yet. Also been told that as dd 6 still wants to be picked up for cuddles I am better waiting a bit (would never lift ds 8).

KatyMac · 21/04/2009 12:33

Urgency - needing to go quickly can be reduced by not drinking coloured liquids (OJ, blackcurrant) or anything with caffeine or anything fizzy

Yes I am fixed 5 yrs ago

Umm I leaked whether sat up stood up or lying down

perma · 21/04/2009 12:36

Brilliant that fixed - was that TVT Katy?
Yes avoid mums' race at sports day though was very awkward last year as everyone assumed I was pg and got loads of little smiles and saw a few knowing looks (espec as have put on weight recently)

suwoo · 21/04/2009 12:38

Another reason it will be difficult for me to have prolapse and bladder fixed is that my job involves lifting. Thats why I've put it off for 7 years.

OP posts:
KatyMac · 21/04/2009 12:40

Yep TVT but I had a temp fix macroplastique bladder neck injection which nearly covered me while I completed my family

Granny22 · 21/04/2009 12:40

Moving this from THAT other thread.

Of course it is a common problem. Where do you think PMSL came from?

If you go to the Tena web site you can order a free trial pack of different sizes of pads. (If you have issues, cross legs now)

So, I have the free samples but don't need the big ones. DD needs to be driven to hospital with her waters leaking. I give her a GIANT pad to wear. She is sent back home to wait. She chucks pad down toilet and flushes. Her slightly panicking DP goes to toilet for a No.2, flushes, flushes again. Toilet now full to brim and overflowing. My DH, summoned to clear toilet, finds DD, now in labour, and trying to balance on a bucket.

ouchitreallyhurts · 21/04/2009 12:42

Perma - was an anterior repair as prolapsed bladder was pushing on front of vag. wall.
I'm 36 but after dd4 was sterilised. good point to wait due to lifting - its been very upsetting not being able to lift my 2 and 4 yr olds due to op. also no driving 4-6 weeks, no hoovering, shopping etc. all sounds great but is driving me nuts.

so far so good, can cough without leaking - yet to try the sneeze/trampoline and run for bus test!

have very good friend who also had 4 children then TVT - she raves about it so it sounds great. I remember when they first started doing them where I worked - good success rates etc.

Divvy · 21/04/2009 12:46

I am due to have a SIM internal tomorrow....but I am just at the end of my period, should I cancel, would you cancel?

The SIM is a special one sided virgina open-upper, so not all the inside is covered...spectrum, thats the word! I think!

Its done while on your side, with leg up in air. Oh I cant wait!

Anyone had it?

I guess I will need fixing at some point, but we are planning another child soon....

Comewhinewithme · 21/04/2009 12:47

Signing in .

35 weeks and pissing myself on a daily basis .

I also have a bad cough atm .

perma · 21/04/2009 12:47

Thanks Katy and Ouch - both really positive stories. It must be very difficult trying not to do those everyday things while things heal.

smee · 21/04/2009 12:48

Might make you laugh this, so beware.. After birth of DS, I had drips and small floods. Very nice specialist physio compared my problem to having a rock pool at low tide. She said only way to stop the drips was to tilt to a handstand every time I peed thus emptying the pool. So that's what I have to do, and I mean very time I wee. DS thinks that's what all women do..

perma · 21/04/2009 12:56

I read that as hatstand first time. I have been told to jiggle too.

Divvy · 21/04/2009 12:56

I now hate having showers, it makes me feel sick that my bladder is coming out of my lady bits

Anyone else find that it also changes in your monthly cycle? When I am ovulating it is not as bad, but as period is due it gets worse...wonder why that is?

I dont leak alot of wee, but wear san pads for confidence and freshness.

Also, I have a bad back, and when my back really "goes" I do then lose bladder control.

smee · 21/04/2009 12:58

perma I think I prefer hatstand..

What other thread ???

Im sick, I wee; I fall down, I wee; I cough, I wee; I sneeze, I wee; I laugh, I wee; I run, I wee; I do exercise, I wee;

I am 38, I am like an old woman (sorry old women)

I have a rectocele and cystocele prolapse from the birth of my ds2 who was v. big. He is now nearly 3 and they still haven't done anything about it........

After two failed cystometrograms (where I passed out with the embarrasment of filling you up like a balloon, have three people looking at you and getting you to jump up and down to see if you piss on a blue paper towel) I have been referred to a different hospital. Next step, another bloody cystometrogram but with pessary ring inserted this time ...

Has anyone else had this and does it work?

suwoo · 21/04/2009 13:02

Divvy, I have a uterine prolapse, so similar. Yes I do find it worsens during my period, gynae said its because all the tissue is softer.

Its a joy in pregnancy as its all massive and swollen down there, I have a varicose vein too.

This baby is a c section, which is good I suppose.
