Do you get ovulation pains?

Last month I had a persistant pain around my c section scar area for 2-3 days. I thought it was part of AF pain, but AF didnt arrive for 2wks after that.

This month, the same pains. And they are hurting like mad !!!

So, I'm thinking they must be ovulation pains..does anyone else get them?

Af = Period.

Sometimes, I think I can feel a popping around ovulation time, almost like I can feel the egg being released I doubt that's what it is though. Maybe you should speak to your gp about it......?

morningpaper · 15/04/2009 20:00

I get ovulation pains, feel like someone's shoved a cricket bat up my bottom and is wiggling it around in my insides for about 3 hours

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2009 20:02

Yup, every month without fail. It's a mix of a sharp pain at the front and a weird sort of constipated, something shoved up bottom feeling at the back. It's quite uncomfortable for about 4 hours but I ache tangibly for a couple of days around either side of actual ovulation.

Claire2009 · 15/04/2009 20:04

Exactly the same ShowofHands! Couldnt have put it better!

Mine lasts 2-3 days though, did last month...

Why am I just getting these pains recently though? I have 2 children so I obviously ovulate but never had these pains before...

steviesgirl · 15/04/2009 20:08

I do sometimes. I can tell what ovary is ovulating because the sharp pain comes from one side or the other.

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2009 20:12

Could be occurring suddenly for any number of reasons I suppose. Your ovaries change as you get older, your hormone levels fluctuate, pregnancy changes you etc.

I was on the pill for years so obviously wasn't aware of it then and it's more pronounced since having dd. You could ask the GP if you're concerned but it does sound like standard ovulation pains.

Friendlypizzaeater · 15/04/2009 20:14

Yup - can tell you exactly when and which side I ovulate from, then it hurts to walk hard for the next couple of days as everything is tender inside.

mollyroger · 15/04/2009 20:14

yup, every month. alternating sides.

I love feeling so in tune with my body, IYKWIM. [hippy]

Guadalupe · 15/04/2009 20:16

Yes, feels like a bunch of bell ringers in there pulling away.

Claire2009 · 15/04/2009 20:18

Hmmm.......I can't tell what side. Its just a solid pain around my cs scar ..

Jealous smily, wants to feel what side it is

I've never been on the pill, or any contraception for that matter. Don't fall preg very easily, am 24yo...

I'm thinking I must be changing/body wise "growing up" inside iukwim...

FrannyandZooey · 15/04/2009 20:21

yes, not every month, but is very clear when it comes

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2009 20:22

I can tell you which side, usually the left side actually about 3 times out of 4!

It does hurt around my cs scar which is probably what has intensified it after having dd.

morningpaper · 15/04/2009 20:50

that shoved-up-bottom feeling is odd, isn't it? Nothing like period pain

CharCharGabor · 15/04/2009 20:52

I've started getting ovulation pains in the last few months which seem to have coincided with getting really broody. It is quite a bizarre feeling.

Claire2009 · 15/04/2009 20:53

Yeh it is odd!

My period pains are in my left shoulder blade so I knew this wasnt period pain...

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 15/04/2009 20:53

It is odd. I've never partaken, but due to said cricket bat up bottom feeling I feel like I have a sympathetic vibe I can offer to the bumsex threads.

abroadandmisunderstood · 15/04/2009 20:55

mine is usually a wincing pain on the right ovary. Only 4 months into periods returning so took me a couple to realise and remember that pain for one day mid cycle.

Claire2009 · 15/04/2009 20:58

PMSL SoH!!!

OP posts:
ThePhantomPooer · 15/04/2009 22:31

I do, it lasts one day, i feel dreadful, bloated and painful in and around the bum area also get a headache.

Only started getting it when i started to plan DC 3, which i have now decided against.

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2009 23:08

Yes, a headache, always a headache!

MrsMerryHenry · 15/04/2009 23:08

I get ovulation pains when I have fibroids. If I were you I'd get a scan - just to put your mind at rest.

Claire2009 · 16/04/2009 03:01

Really? Ohh...

OP posts:

I always have the up-bottom pain- and didn't make the connection between that, and the ovulation ache (sort of periody, but to one side- obviously) Then I read a thread on here I think, and the bottom pain is due to blood flowing into some pouch (can't remember name- something weird) at the moment of egg release, the pain is when the pouch empties the blood out.
I thought it was piles on the inside...

Bucharest · 16/04/2009 10:32

The Douglas Pouch it's called.
