Do you get ovulation pains?

Last month I had a persistant pain around my c section scar area for 2-3 days. I thought it was part of AF pain, but AF didnt arrive for 2wks after that.

This month, the same pains. And they are hurting like mad !!!

So, I'm thinking they must be ovulation pains..does anyone else get them?

Are we sure the up-bottom pain isn't constipation?

I think I may have had a light-bulb moment I never made the connection before. Sometimes it wakes me up with its intensity ....

Definitely not constipation- I didn't make the connection till my friend said she had it during ovulation too, then we searched and found Douglas's Pouch.

ShowOfHands · 16/04/2009 11:53

It's not constipation as er, I'm not constipated once a month! I have been constipated in the past when on iron tablets and it feels completely different. Occurs at exactly the time of ovulation for a few hours, every month without fail.

Bucharest · 16/04/2009 12:00

That's it- exactly, and it can be excruciating. I jump into a scalding shower now as soon as I feel it. (and stand with my bum attractively pointed upwards at the hot water....)

MrsMerryHenry · 17/04/2009 18:55

Douglas' Pouch? How do these people come up with such bizarre names?

theDreadPirateRoberts · 17/04/2009 19:00

Can we find Douglas and make him stop please?

stillenacht · 17/04/2009 19:04

yup every month my mum calls it 'mittleschmerz' (middle (of month) pain)

MrsMerryHenry · 17/04/2009 19:05

I think he needs a good slapping, Dread.

bagsforlife · 17/04/2009 19:06

It's called the Pouch of Douglas, not Douglas' Pouch.....God only knows why. Sounds like geographical term for somewhere in Scotland.

MrsMerryHenry · 17/04/2009 19:08

Yes, just beyond the Forth of Firth! (hmm...sure I haven't got that right!)

Doodle2U · 17/04/2009 19:10

Same as steviesgirl - I get it on either one side or the other. More so since having children and I think mine may be linked to cysts on my ovaries.

Sitting down quickly produces a sharp pain in particular.

stillenacht · 17/04/2009 19:14

doodle2u same here

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2009 22:23

only on the right hand side - generally every other month

These pains could well be related to patches of endometriosis which have attached to your c-section scar. Any abdominal surgery runs the risk of adhesions; these are like sticky strands that tether organs together and thus also cause pain.

Any pains like this mid cycle should be further checked out by a gynae and would be asking your GP for a referral (particularly if it is recurrent).

BTW the Pouch of Douglas as well is a known site for endo to attach itself as well.

The "shoved up bottom" pain experienced by others (as well as myself who now has an endo diagnosis) could well be due to endo too.

Claire2009 · 18/04/2009 16:13

Thanks Attila, thats the 3rd time someone has mentioned me getting checked out for endo!
I will get checked out one day soon!
