For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

what is a dodgy cigarette in inverted commas? Do you mean gitanes or dope or dried banana skin?

FrayedKnot · 10/04/2009 22:42

Oh good luck with the party tomorrow Franny

I can say that because it is 49 weeks until I next have to do one

pointydog · 10/04/2009 22:43

oo a party. I do like a party.

FrayedKnot · 10/04/2009 22:44

I never tried dried banana skin pointy - I feel I may have missed out. Was it good?

pointydog · 10/04/2009 22:45

I was convinced that dfied banana skin made me feel light-headed and zowzy at the time. With hindsight, it was maybe because I was taking a big drag of unfiltered tobacco with a small crowd gathered wathcing me

pointydog · 10/04/2009 22:46

The bog question is, would dried banana skin count as a 10 a day?

pointydog · 10/04/2009 22:46

big question

SuperBunny · 11/04/2009 01:47

Mum gone We kind of fell out a bit but then ignored it so I feel like a bitch and am missing her

Hot cross buns = homemade & the best ones ever

Loive the poo story. Bleurgh @ flesh tunnels

Happy virthday, Fran's DS1. Hope cake is ok, wombling

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 08:57

oh bunny what a bummer
i feel like i understand the mix of irritation rage guilt and sadness to some extent

well it's party day
the party is outdoors
so far it is raining
it could clear up couldn't it? [hopeful against all evidence]

it is an easter / birthday party so we are wearing easter hats
dp's idea of an easter hat is to wear a fake nail through his head
i pointed out this could just possibly be taken as offensive to christians
so we contented ourselves with putting it on ds2's head instead and taking photos
which though puerile has really made me laugh

right i have a cake here which being bought from a shop looks very attractive and tasty
i am about to heave lots of breakfast cereal and mini eggs on it in a vague attempt to a) make it look eastery and b) perhaps convince some of the toddlers attending that i have made it
wish me luck

Bee is long gone but she asked about dairy
no bee i am eating it like mad
hence have stopped getting thinner, oh well, have now got a few clothes that fit
ds's skin has been peachy on his face and body - we gave him tomato last week and it has been a bit bumpy on his face since - no idea whether a connection but at least we could repeat experiement and discover maybe?
me eating dairy makes no difference now
however possibly it helped his system calm down when it was struggling with the eczema?

Pointy, my friend and I spent hours drying a banana skin and then tried to smoke it on it's own. god my poor lungs.

pinkspottywellies · 11/04/2009 09:46

I never smoked banana skin but sounds like I didn't miss out on too much!

Franny, I'm sure the cake will look devine and everyone will believe you made it with your own fair hands Have a great party!

SB don't forget how annoying she was when she was there Sorry you fell out Have you spoken to her yet? I expect both of you were stressed about her going home - did you fall out over something daft? I bet she hates having to leave you.

I didn't each much until I was about 16. VERY fussy eating child.

This morning I've had banana and orange juice.

Yesterday I made crunchy chick peas off the recipe page on MN but it didn't go very well. It's chick peas rolled in polenta and fried but mine all exploded and the polenta came off. Any ideas?

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 10:24

hmm
i bought mini wheats instead of shredded wheat as they were only ones that didn't have nestle on packet
am huge hypocrite though as i know full well all own brand shreddies also made by nestle
anyway the shreds are the wrong length
would look like chocolate coated sawdust instead of nest
have ditched that
gone for concentric circles of mini eggs bodged on by melted chocolate
DON'T tell me mini eggs owned by nestle

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 10:25

aha were divine fair trade mini eggs [smuggeroo]

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 11/04/2009 12:25

I didn't know that about own brand shreddies!

I feel weird and dizzy and had to leave town as it felt like the floor was coming up over my head. I am convinced I am getting the tropical illness but dh is convinced it is in my mind. We will see.

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 12:42

oh man i hope you feel better soon
had you eaten ok?
i did feel slightly like that myself yesterday but i presume it was all the croissants and jam for breakfast
i think my blood sugar was doing cartwheels

here you go guad we found this info on MN one time when people were looking for a good alternative to shreddies
it does make you realise nestle must have their fingers in so many pies, that avoiding all business with them is very tricky indeed
but as usual i think doing SOMETHING is better than doing NOTHING

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 11/04/2009 12:55

I had shredded wheat for breakfast, with maple syrup, brazil nuts and orange juice, so I don't think it was that.

I did stop and have a coffee wth a friend who's dh makes mega strong stuff so maybe that didn't help. I have eaten some sushi now as well but I still feel weird.

Not sure I want to read that link but I will make myself!

BIL is outside cleaning the 'Warrior'. He is feeling better, nice and better for easter weekend now he has infected us. We have to look after it while he is away. I don't why I feel guilty sitting here while he is cleaning t. I've only been in it once when I went to Eye. Hate the bloody thing.

littlerach · 11/04/2009 12:55

oh Guad, hope you feel better soon.

If it was mer, I'd be convinced too, plus be feeling even worse through imagining it.

We have been to a supposed poultry talk. It was rather misleading as the posters had cute fluffy chicks.
But there were hens in coops and people ot talk to and no fluffy chicks
Dd2 was most upset.

Salad
Tomatoes
lemon cake

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/04/2009 15:22

Oh SB It will be forgotten though. I think the problem is we all revert to the parent/child relationship whatever age we are. Your mum loves you no matter what and vice versa, and a little arguement won't change that.

guad - what is a Warrior? I hope you feel better soon. Your bil probably picked up something on the plane and is now being generous with it and passing it around.

LR what a bummer. Did you complain to the owners of the chicken place?

SuperBunny · 11/04/2009 16:42

Thanks for sympathy. Think I am hugely stressed over many things and usually don't have anyone around to let off steam with and get confused about how to behave with my mum and always end up regressing to stroppy teenager mode. Relationships are very hard. For me, at least.

Cake sounds good Fran.

What is the warrior.

littlerach · 11/04/2009 17:08

It is a garden cntre Lemur, so I htink it was me being hopeful

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 19:02

bunny i think you have a lot of insight into the thing with your mum which is always a good start

yay it didn't rain on the party! i think it was lovely - i expect an organised person would think it was awful but i hope everyone had a good time amongst the shambles
the food was great - and cheap compared to eg soft play party food charge
there were lovely fresh sandwiches and cakes, lots of space for them to run around
we had it where we went for lunch that time guad
and when a drop of rain fell we thought oh blimey
but all was well
my friend organised the games beautifully when i wibbled and asked her
and ds1 ran around and ate chocolate and played wrestling and climbed a tree
he is tired and happy

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/04/2009 19:36

I'm glad the rain stayed away for you all. What is it with boys and wrestling?!!

I can't imagine you wibbling Franny, you always seem so self-assured and assertive. Have you ever been a teacher? I often feel teacher vibes coming from you

banana
courgette
french beans
onion
oj
mushrooms

How poor

Should be better tomorrow as we're going to M&D's for a roast dinner and she does a HUGE selection of veg. Then I've made a raspberry trifle for dessert which has mucho raspberries in it.

Chocolate eggs tomorrow - yippeeeeeee

FrannyandZooey · 11/04/2009 19:40

LOL no not a teacher - just a nanny (that's worse really isn't it? )
well i do wibble and flap a lot but much of it is internal
i just realised i had 25 children, 10 spoons and 5 prizes for the egg and spoon race
my friend said "organise them in teams and do a relay"
i laughed in disbelief so she did it for me [impressed]
