For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I watched part of the film the other day but the book is much better so I didn't bother watching the end.

Shit TooT, Dystocia with no pain relief, and you did it again, I take my hat off to you, really.

DS was big almost 11 lb I think, and was back to back, I was aiming for homebirth, ended up induced at 10 days overdue, labouring to fully dilated, getting ready to push and started to haemorrage (sp?).

I remember looking down and wondering where all the blood all over the floor had come from, and realised it was from me. I remember begging to be allowed to push as they did the spinal. I felt so cheated after all the hard work to get there and DD's crap EC.

Anyway the point of all this bilge is that they only realised he was back to back when they cut me open, and I would have had a shoulder dystocia apparently. I was horrified that they didn't know until the surgery. Not sure if that was justified or not.

womblingalong · 26/02/2009 19:31

Shit sorry TF, yes think lovely Mooing, Franny is right.

Hello Superbunny!

womblingalong · 26/02/2009 19:32

Oh drat, I have just read that long post back, sorry for my self -indulgent ramblings everyone.

womblingalong · 26/02/2009 19:33

Ouch Franny, no, honestly I think all these great birth stories are fab, they sound so empowering and womanly, somehow.

Just wish I could have experienced it too, sometimes.

FrannyandZooey · 26/02/2009 19:37

wombling not self indulgent, everyone's stories are very important
i just feel a bit guilty for starting the subject in a flippant way when it is a big deal
but it is good to hear what happened to you, i mean i want to hear it, but am sad at how things worked out
rather gorgeous children at end of it, though

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/02/2009 19:38

p.s they did not know ds1 was back to back, either, until i had transferred from home birth, had an epidural and been forcepped

big for both of us

TooTicky · 26/02/2009 19:51

Oh heavens Wombling!

Dd1 was breech and they didn't know until I had been in labour for some time and I haemhorraged and they kept me in for four horrible days while they decided if I needed a blood transfusion. I didn't.

But Tiger, yours will be fine

womblingalong · 26/02/2009 19:52

yes (for both of us) just about sums it up Franny.

Yes both our DC's are rather gorgeous aren't they

littlerach · 26/02/2009 19:53

Blimey, Womblimg, that is big

Dd1 was 5lbs, so half the size! (She was a prem).

Dd2 was rather average, but back t back I htink.

I gave birth quickly both times (think 5 hrs established with dd1) only got to hospital 1 hr before dd2 was born. But the placenta bit was horrid with dd2. I remember thinking that if you had twins vaginally, you'd be really not wanting to go through the pushing again with the second as it is all too raw and bleurgh

Um, had marmalade on toast for lunch.

But dinner included:
red pepper
yellow pepper
tomatoes
sweetcorn
onion
green beans

also a pear
and fruit cake.

littlerach · 26/02/2009 19:55

Oh and TooT, we made pancakes earlier and they were rather crap

dd2 asked me to call you to get F round ot help

I am apparently rubbish at panckaes.

womblingalong · 26/02/2009 20:04

Four days TooT, OMG!

AtillaTheHoney · 26/02/2009 20:16

oh. I want to stay on the thread and talk womenly safe lovely stuff, but I have LOADS to do. It feels so nice and friendly on here tonight.

I have docs appointments tomorrow and 'stuff' to do in town that needs to be done before the weekend though.

Toot, I am going to get through work and then can talk bollox more tomorrow without feeling guilty about having work to do. (It is quiet but OKish)

I agree with Franny, ALL the stories are important, the beauty of the easier births in their simplicity, and the beauty of life through adversity in the stressful ones.

Enjoy chatting ,

and ((((((((((((())))))))))))))) for those that want them but cos I am selfish and need LOADS at the moment..

And goodnight all.

TooTicky · 26/02/2009 20:16

LR, F will be chuffed to hear that

4 utterly hellish dsays Wombling

dd1 was back to back, and took about 36 hours to come out, it was ok just loooong, and dd2 shot out like a champagne cork - literally. I went from 3cm dilated to holding her in 14 minutes and didn't push at all. But that was because of a drug reaction. I hated it, and would be very happy never to give birth again. It's just so wrong that something so big has to squeeze out of a small hole, it's been designed all wrong, and I'm not doing it again until they sort that out.

pinkspottywellies · 26/02/2009 20:33

I haven't had booja-boojas either honey. And oh how I laughed when you said I'm a runner too!! I tried Seriously though, I did actually really get into it for the few months I was doing it but had to stop when I needed too wee as soon as I ran I have been looking forward to getting back to it though. I just would never have described myself as a runner!!

at all you loons who enjoyed the birth bit glad my pushing stage was only 4 mins.

Tatties · 26/02/2009 20:43

Are we all talking birth stories? The first thing I said after giving birth to ds was, "it was all worth it, but I am NEVER doing that again"

Yet bizarrely I would love to experience childbirth again. I don't think I could cope with another child though

Tatties · 26/02/2009 20:46

Just looking at your photos again Pink! Your children are truly scrumptious

TooTicky · 26/02/2009 20:52

Hello Tatties, how are you?

pinkspottywellies · 26/02/2009 20:54

My midwife was saying to me 'just do what your body's telling you' but my body was saying 'NOOOOOOOOOOOO you can't get that out of there. Just CLENCH and you can hold it in and it'll be fine.' I had to override with my brain and tell my body that pushing out was the best way all round!!
