For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sorry about the hearing thing, Pink. Hope you are getting some rest.

Boco · 25/02/2009 21:02

I thought that Franny was typing out a recipe for Toot's special muesli then - it started well but when it got to the hummus and carrot and avocado i thought jesus, toot eats some weird freaking muesli, and franny is just going along with it!

Glad to see it's not the case. Good.

Bit rubbish today
orange
mango juice
green beans
carrots
tomato
lettuce
avocado

It's the end of the month budget shop.

Boco · 25/02/2009 21:03

Pink, dd failed her hearing test twice - they said it was just that when they're born all their tiny tubes can be a bit blocked, she was 3 months before she passed it.

Guadalupe · 25/02/2009 21:07

Hello

Happy Birthday LR! Hope you have enjoyed the day.

Pink how rotten they made you wait so long when DS is so new and you so tired Hpe it turns out OK.

OsBa hooray that's excellent! Hope you are allowing yourself at least a small celebration tonight.

Blueberries
Dried fruit
2 apples
An avocado

TooTicky · 25/02/2009 21:09

A whole portion of nori? [curious]

FrayedKnot · 25/02/2009 21:14

Ooh Grand Designs

Building a hobbit house out of car tyres, in a wood. Good.

TooTicky · 25/02/2009 21:15

Sounds interesting.

Guadalupe · 25/02/2009 21:17

ooh, sorry, happy birthday littler.

And well done OB, that's great.!

Toot - maybe not whole portion, what is one? Quite a few pieces of sushi and snacked on a few of those large sqaures of nori in a packet.

TooTicky · 25/02/2009 21:25

I don't know. Seaweed is even better than veg though, isn't it? All those minerals.

Guadalupe · 25/02/2009 21:26

I think so. DD loves it she will eat the whole packet if you don't watch her.

TooTicky · 25/02/2009 21:28

I like seaweed,. Don't see much of it around her. Dd1 is keen to make sushi so might go looking.

FrannyandZooey · 25/02/2009 22:12

i forgot to say - like you all WANT an update on ds2's bum
but the doctor says she thinks it is definitely fungal and that i MUST give him time with his nappy off - i launched into usual speech "but but miss he scratches but but but it is terrible, you can't leave him for a second, i have to hold his hands all the time"
while she took off ds's clothes and nappy and he lay there like an angel smiling at her and not trying to scratch at all

Well done, OB. That's fab! I am sure mature students do better than those straight out of sixth form because you have to make so many sacrifices - time, money and family-wise - so you actually care.

Polly, if you are interested in running, I suggest the Couch Potato to 5k website, as Pink did. It eases you in very gently and you can do it without an iPod.

Kiwi

But, I walked quite a long way and sos did DS - about 4 miles I reckon without once complaining or wanting to be carried

AtillaTheHoney · 26/02/2009 01:51

I could hug you lemur for your comment ''you know how difficult it is to cope and keep perspective when you don't feel well''

I don't feel quite such a self-absorbed miserable twat individual now!!

I don't have a gap at the top of this thread..it sounds crap but I think I am missing out and have gap .

Glad you had a nice day LR, but I must disagree, Pizza is always as nice as I expect it to be!!

My DD's hearing was blocked as well Pink...I'm sure they said it was mucus or something in her ears. Warm flannels helped my BFing pain.

Hi, SB .......can I possibly ask you some advice on FB please?

SuperBunny · 26/02/2009 02:05

Ask away, Atilla.

Um, does anyone have anxiety attacks? I am not sure if that is what it is but for the past 3 afternoons/ evenings I have felt like I am having a heart attack - tight chest/ crushing feeling, difficulty breathing etc. Then it goes away when I sleep til the next afternoon. I am not sure what it is so don't know how to make it stop.

AtillaTheHoney · 26/02/2009 02:10

That sounds like panic/anxiety attacks SB.
I don't get them as much but occasionally socially do. (especially in groups in school playground)

Breathing and counting slowly helps and also finding another part of your brain to tell you it is just an anxiety attack and that it will pass. Otherwise the worry and panic at the time exacerbates them.

They are horrible, but can be managed

this might help..xx

SuperBunny · 26/02/2009 02:25

Thanks for the link. I don't know why this has started this week. It's not as if things have become incredibly stressful (that happened 2 weeks ago!)

Argh. I could really do without this.

Off to nature reserve with DS tomorrow for a 'Get Sappy' day - they show how you get sap from trees and how to get maple syrup.

AtillaTheHoney · 26/02/2009 02:45

That sounds like fun.

Maybe it is a back log of stuff. We can only deal with so much before something sends out warning signals.

lol

(((((((((((()))))))))))))))))), anyway.

stuffitllama · 26/02/2009 03:20

morning

list for yesterday was six of tomatoes, beans, onionish, juice and dried fruit plus forty lengths swimming

I am also broody for the giving birth part and the first two months but not for the pregnancy, potty training, wooden bricks all over the floor and a living room full of plastic.

Bunny what are you worried about? Can you put your finger on it? There must be something triggering your anxiety, I know it's generally tough but wouldn't there be something specific to trigger such an emergency reaction?

I'll swim again today and every day is my plan but it's the hairwashing and chlorine I hate. My dd's is going green already so yesterday I mixed baking soda with the shampoo and it has made a difference, plus the water went all fizzy so it was fun.

Feel a bit flat today. I think it's jobs. Also I've lost all my choir music and we have a big rehearsal today.

Osba I didn't congratulate you but CONGRATULATIONS -- how you have achieved that with everything else going on is incredible. Do you have a kitchen?

stuffitllama · 26/02/2009 03:21

oh and I ate sushi too. I wanted to include it but the bits of seaweed and cucumber and olive or whatever it is are so microscopic.

AtillaTheHoney · 26/02/2009 08:08

I love the way DC's can make you smile even when you are feeling crap.

Went in to wake up DS and he came to with a start, and said...''don't wake me up I'm having the journey on a sausage'' Lolol...

FrannyandZooey · 26/02/2009 08:22

morning chaps
bunny stress can definitely build up and burst out in the way you describe
but as it is chest pain best to get checked out also
it can help to concentrate on your breathing and really slow it down when it happens - or even breath into a paper bag
