For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Posted on your thread, tiny.

Come and find me on fb - you too, bunny! am dm.

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 05:30

Good morning

Off to re\d thread...

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 05:41

Sorry to be a bit wacko last night
and totally devoid of imagination
but I did sit in the lean to and twist hay so you didn't all freeze
this will mean nothing to you if you've not read The Long Winter

Frannypops, do remember that other people read my emails before I do and I know it was a fairly safe one but the less questions I have to answer the better really.

Spacy yes and positively bouncing.

I woke up at 3 this morning but didn't actually get out of bed until nearly 5. So quite civilised really.

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 05:43

Well done for staying in bed, Toot.

I am bothered that other people read your email.

Hello

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 06:05

I have a meeting with dd1's head of year today to discuss reasons behind poor attendance. Is there any chance that I will not appear to be a crumbly, insomniac, barely coping fruitloop?
[hopeful]

SuperBunny · 20/01/2009 06:13

Yes! There is every chance that you will come accross as the concerned, caring mother that you are. Don't fret about the other stuff. Not too much, anyway.

OP posts:
mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:20

I'm also bothered by TooT's lack of mail privacy - what's that about?

I'm sure you'll kick arse, TooT - or is that not really the image you were hoping for, either? What are you aiming for?

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:21

Oh, concerned and caring, I see

Oh, it's just that the whole family uses the same one, just with different bits at the start

Not sure about kicking arse. Just coiming across as vaguely respectable would do.

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:32

I couldn't do that (emails, not concerned and caring). Dp regularly gives me his passwords for things (so I can do stuff for him usually) and i hate it, as if I might be snooping. Reading that back clearly I'm the one with ishoos.

School - are you worried about her attendance, or just worried that they're worried?

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 06:40

Her attendance was low last termm...combination of stomach bugs, colds, and I think a bit of don't-want-to-go so will say I am ill.
And I have been bad mummy and not sent in many absence notes because tbh too much was going on, what with both boys nearly going into hospital and things being postponed and god did I mebtion the stomach bugs? With 4 children that is no joke.
Things are better now becayuse we are driving her to school, which saves late bus ghassle and having to run.
But I think she is v v mild aspergers and this explains why she struggles with friendships.

Apologies for horrendously long, badly typed post

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:49

Ah, so you've already solved the problem - if driving is doable long-term - and hopefully stomach-bug season is over... You'll be fine, TooT. I would probably forget to comb my hair or something and turn up looking disheveled (sp??) so that's my advice. Comb your hair.

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:52

I'm craving garlic mushrooms... what do you eat with garlic mushrooms? Can I turn them into a meal with no meat? (Not veggie but trying to eat less meat)

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 06:54

Well I have washed it and combed it but will probably be out in a lot of wind before this afternoon

Yes, problem pretty much sorted I think.
When ds1 starts secondary, it will be cheaper to drive them than send them on the bus

Oh, but I do worry about him going to secondary school. I think it even harder for boys than it is for girls

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 06:55

add salad OR fried tomatoes and..um...things

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 06:56

Or justy eat them.,They are veg, they will count as a portion. If you're still huingry, eat more.

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 06:57

I have very mixed feelings about school... am a frustrated home edder I think. Do you like the school in general? Do you have options, or is this it?

TinyWhiteFeather · 20/01/2009 06:58

Good morning you bundles of loveliness.

Toot, Withoput giving too much detail, I would describe what you have put on here, and if you fel it is appropriate say something like 'as we both have my DD's education and best interests at heart, how do you feel you can best help with this situation?'
The school is partly to fault here because if she was enjoying it, she would be more eager to attend. They should be made aware that she is being made to feel uncomfortable by other students and that the school is hugely responsible for addressing this aspect of her education.

Can I come and be your spokesperson?

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 07:00

slightly odd x-posts... I was thinking I'll need a bit more to pad out the mushrooms for a main meal, no?

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 07:01

Yes please Feather

School is looooong story.
I HE'd dd1 for yeaer 6 due to ridiculous problems in her class. We deliberately chose school nobody she knew would go too, luckily also the school we liked best.
But secondary is always hard I think, unless you are alpha-child.

TooTicky · 20/01/2009 07:05

tbh Mango, I am the last person to ask about balanced meals atm. Add a grain.....

Hey, I WAS a frustrated home edder - I did it and it frustrated me

stuffitllama · 20/01/2009 07:05

found ya
need to check in again,no internet at home for three days
lots of cauli, broccoli, carrots, pears and grapes
I learned today (cartoon in a newspaper ahem)that something in cauli helps suppress the growth of breast and prostate tumours

toot need to catch up on news about ds eye
hey mango, i can't work out if weare fb friends, anyway what about a baked potato and a hot tomato salad
SB what was the emergency

mangolassi · 20/01/2009 07:08

I'm sure the reality of it would frustrate me too, but you're right, secondary's hard for pretty much everyone. tiny has a good idea, maybe take the opportunity to talk about the social side?
