For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Guad if you mention halloumi a little alarm goes off on my computer and I have to come and tell you that it's actually solidified sweat. It's like a bat signal. But a cheese signal.

Guadalupe · 19/01/2009 18:20

I need bf advice please. I didn't bf ds last night because I had a tablet that you can't have when bf yesterday. I'm sure it is out of my system now but do I need to express milk? Does it get reabsorbed or is it just sitting there? I'm quite uncomfortable now and he was pretty pissed off last night.

TooTicky · 19/01/2009 18:20

Yeah yeah I have been awake for nearly 17 hours and it rocks!

Guadalupe · 19/01/2009 18:22

Franny - you've won stuff, you cow. I never win nuffink.

Boco · 19/01/2009 18:23

Goodness Toot, 17 hours? Aren't you wiped out?

Guad I don't know - does it depend what it is? Was it ecstasy?

TooTicky · 19/01/2009 18:29

I was wiped out. I'm fine now. In a slightly high and whizzy kind of way.

What has Franny won?

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 18:29

Thanks, have started thread re DS. We have a children's ER so shouldn't be full of drunks later! Have started a thread in chat to see what others think. I'm crap at making decisions.

Dr Kovac does indeed work there

Oh sorry Guad I missed your bf question. But I don't know. Sorry.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 19/01/2009 18:33

hi guys sorry ive been sort of posting and disapearing.. i keep crashing out stupidly early

well ive not eaten much veg or fruit today, the midwife that took my bloods on saturday butchered my arm, ive got brusing all up my forearm, round my elbow and nearly to my armpit. it really hurts, and im comfort eating, and cooking quick crappy meals cos im not up to peeling and carrying heavy pans etc etc.

so feeling sorry for myself, also cos im anemic my body not taken to kindly to the blood loss, and im dizzy. plus ive got killer morning sickness.

sympathy guys (dh is rubbish at sympathy!)

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 18:35

Guad, I think it would depend what it is. With most things, I expect by now it would be ok. Could nhs direct tell you? They probably won't know, will they? If you are in any doubt, I suppose you'll have to express

Natty, veg will help with anaemia and feeling bad. Feel better soon.

TooTicky · 19/01/2009 18:36

Oh bloody hell Natty, poor you!
Bruising from needles is hell, isn't it? Do you always bruise badly?
And sickness too
Here, wrap yourself up in this handwoven soyabean fibre blanket.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 19/01/2009 18:39

thanks snuggles up in blanket
no i never bruise. the woman who did it was stupid anyway, didnt know the diff between a mmc and a mc, which for a midwife i thought was awful
according to my nurse friend, she had put the needle thru the vein instead of IN it, so it bleed alot under the skin..
dumb woman

Guadalupe · 19/01/2009 18:44

Natty - have you got some floradix? It's very good and doesn't leave you constipated like other iron tablets.

Funnily enough, Boco, I was not taking ecstacy! It was a remedy for digestive ailments, but says avoid while bf as it gets in the milk.

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 18:45

Ouch.

How long should I wait for the dr to call me back? It's been 30 minutes.

Sorry to be all me me me

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 18:47

Well, if it's not ecstasy then you should be fine

pinkspottywellies · 19/01/2009 18:51

Ooh dear Natty sounds horrid. Have some dried apricots (for the iron )

BOE-COE I was just about to come on FB and shout at you for never coming on here and you appeared

Lol at who's poo Fran. DD was doing really well at the potty training thing but she's been having accidents the last week. I think it's when she gets really tired.

YOU CAN'T HAVE A MEET UP IN FEB HALF TERM. Unless you have it where I live. Even possibly in the maternity unit of my local hospital

I can't believe I was told to eat more by TooT of all people It must be bad. And TooT - SLEEP MORE!!!!

for Lully and Molly's boys. I feel so sad when children find life so difficult and adults (teachers etc) don't/can't help

Had 1000 people for lunch today and tidying before they came involved a lot of shoving stuff in the spare/baby's room so I want to sort it all tonight before it gets too comfy in there!!! All the toys are tidied away though and the kitchen is nearly clean

I had some salad at lunchtime and lots of grapes. Oh and fruit crumble. I will try and eat tea tonight.

pinkspottywellies · 19/01/2009 18:52

I would say it's fine Guad. Surely if your body rids your milk of alcohol then other substances must be similar [unscientific]

pinkspottywellies · 19/01/2009 18:53

Oops. Natty doesn't sound horrid. Oh dear Nat, it sounds horrid

SuperBunny · 19/01/2009 18:54

PSW, different substances take different lengths of time to be broken down and eliminated from your body - some things can take weeks.

Guad if you are very worried, 0844 412 4665 there is a drugs in breastfeeding helpline you can call (all info is confidential)

An older infant is likely to have efficient systems to detoxify any drug reached through breastmilk. Also IIRC, 'only' around 1 per cent of any drug is passed through BF.

Boco · 19/01/2009 18:56

Pink, that baby must be nearly ready? How long have you got? How come you still have the energy to entertain thousands of people when heavily pg? I used to lie down nearly all the time.

I like Greenwich, I used to live nearby and walk there every weekend with dd when she was a baby and go to the park and the market. AND I'm in an exhibition in greenwich starting next week, at the Stephen Lawrence Gallery.

mollyroger · 19/01/2009 18:56

Boco - you lasted a whole day longer than me before crumbling

Boco · 19/01/2009 18:58

I was going to say it's like crack cocaine here Molly, but that'd be two drug references, I don't know why I keep mentioning drugs, it must be because I've not talked about vegetables for so long, i'm out of the habit and a bit nervous.
