For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, it's a vicious cycle! Welcome, Natty. Eat raisins, they're easy to scoff instead of chocolate/ sweets.

bunny what kind of aveeno? there were loads
i got cream

Guadalupe · 17/01/2009 18:58

Take your milk and test it with cristals? Sounds a bit odd.

My personal experience was that my food directly affected ds2's allergies. I didn't eat wheat much anyway but when I cut that out along with dairy it improved in a few days and was gone within two weeks. As soon as butter and milk snuck back in his symptoms would return immediately.

Excema was never that bad though, it was mainly wheezing and watery eyes/nose. He still reacts to it in his own food though he's ok with say, butter in a cake, couldn't cope with a glass of milk or ordinary yoghurt though.

I bought a little fire engine money box as a christening present today and when I got home the stopper was missing. I knew it was on when I looked at it and when I phoned sure enough they'd dropped it when wrapping. I was very cross with the man and he brought it on his bicycle on his way home from work.

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2009 19:05

i lied about the crystals

yes i know food allergies can come through in the milk
i just disliked her assertion it would be something i was eating
rather than the other 101 things that could also cause excema

i still don't know how to spell it

the man coming on bicycle was a result!

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2009 19:05

oh

we are a no car household

[proud] [sob]

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 19:06

Um, just the normal Aveeno lotion. Mine comes in a pump. BUT it can really sting if the eczema is bad, so it might make DS cry. Same for aqueous cream which is often recommended. I now use vaseline (bleurgh) or aquaphor and, much as I dislike smothering myself in petrochemicals, they work and that makes me happier.

The man sounds lovely, Guad. I am sure lots of places would have made you come and get it.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2009 19:08

they've all got petroleum doodah in
i would feel same as you bunny - if they work, that's the payoff

well there was whole shelf of aveeno things
i think i got cream
should i have got lotion i wonder?

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 19:09

Oh, Franny. That takes you to a whole new level of lentil weavery, even if it wasn't by choice.

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 19:10

I am sure cream will be fine. I don't know what the difference is. I used to get it on prescription in the UK. I am sure that if it isn't a scented one, it will be ok. Hope it helps.

Franny...a man coming on his bicycle is definately a result... cackle....

And FairLady...about your toys....do you see those things on the end of your arms?........

Oh and welcome Natty...lolololol...what an entrance to the thread..I am normally one of the 'quiet ones'..lolol

I walked too toot, but was in such a grump I forgot to pick up my phone.
I hope you forgive me...

I iron Fair Lady, send it all to me

Oh and bollox to the milk theory Franny, he's just jealous.

DS's outbursts don't affect me quite like they used to and mostly I just shut up and wait till he has finished but it is wearing. And then I go out for a walk and 'admire the view' and build walls around that 'special place' in my head so that I don't lose my sanity altogether.

Oh god do I sound completely loopy or does someone understand where I am coming from?lol

Hasn't it been lovely having pink around again. : )

SB you are the font of all tech wisdom and I worship your everflowing knowledge...you should set up a help-site for hormone stretched tech dunces ladies.

I am going to go and finish my kernitting project...you won't see it cos I can't 'do' pictures

Night you lovely people, xx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/01/2009 19:31

Welcome Natty That's a lot of pregnancies in not a lot of time, no wonder your body is feeling it.

I started on this thread in the New Year and have noticed the difference already. If I stray onto the path of processed sugar, it leads me down further and I feel terrible. I hadn't noticed it before, not until I started to snack on fruit and veg instead.

I hope the cream works for your ds Franny. I get quite defensive of my lovely breastmilk as well, as everyone seems to want to blame everything on it.

Isn't ds sleeping through the night? No? It's because he's bf don't you know.

Your ds is too attached to you cos he's bf.

If you bf him to sleep he'll NEVER settle for anyone else.

Haven't you weaned him at 19 weeks yet? You'll starve him if he's only being bf.

And on and on it goes, blah blah blah.

Is your car kaput?

Guad - are you excited about the christening? Is it the one at a really swanky venue?

pinkspottywellies · 17/01/2009 19:36

I was really chuffed the other day when TooT and SB were recommending my chilli recipe (just by the way)

Welcome Natty. When are you due? I have 5 weeks to go with my 2nd.

I'm feeling a bit horrified today at the thought of the whole 'small person being reliant on me for the next several months years' thing! I know it will be years but it's those first few months where it can really only be me (as long as I'm bf - which people seem to be assuming I won't be )

I want to run away from dd and just have some me time!! Oh god now I sound horrible

Oh dear, mou just said it's nice to have me back and now I'm all whiney and offloading!! Sorry!

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2009 19:41

pink HAVE some me time
can you?
i went and had a holiday by myself (only 2 days but was fab)

pinkspottywellies · 17/01/2009 19:44

I am. I'm going to my sister's next weekend and DH has taken dd out this afternoon and last weekend. I'm just a bit weepy at the moment and feel horrible about everything!

littlerach · 17/01/2009 19:46

It'll be fine, Pink.
It really will.

And i iwll make your chilli next week.

Hi Natty and welcome.

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 19:50

Oh Pink - I hope you have a peaceful weekend with your sister, Sounds nice

BBBee · 17/01/2009 19:52

pink - er- haery pat on the hand and smile.

franny - if you think she is a fuckwit she is a fuckwit be it loolipop lady or tennis player.

don;t let fuckwits fuck with your breast milk.

Guadalupe · 17/01/2009 19:52

Well, he did say could I come and collect itand I said I most certainly could not, and that he would have to post it to me and I would have to give the present sans stopper and post it on to them, which would be rather embarrassing.

I actually wouldn't find it in the least bit embarrassing, have known the girl for years, but he doesn't know that. Anyway, he phoned back and said he would drop by on his way home. Very nice man indeed.

Lol at lying about the cristals.

Lemur - yes, it is at Westminster abbey and afterwards at chelsea hospital. I still haven't decided what to wear! It's not until 4pm though so we have some time in the morning. We are going to skip godfather visit and just pop in London museum for a couple of hours.

DD has just arrived home from a party with a cream egg in her party bag. She doesn't like cream eggs. I do.

littlerach · 17/01/2009 19:54

Ooh, Guad, have a lovely time.
Sounds tres posh

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 19:54

It must be a very posh christening to be at Westminster.

Mmmm, creme eggs.

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 17/01/2009 19:55

Hoorah for the party bag Guad!

I feel like I'm pushing dd away a bit, which makes me feel crappy cause that's the last thing she needs with all the upheaval she's about to experience oh now I'm bawling!

pinkspottywellies · 17/01/2009 19:56

Can one just hire Westminster Abbey for one's christening? Or are they in the catchment area and go there? Do they have normal regular services? [ignorant]

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 20:08

Isn't Westminster just a parish church? So, if you live near it is your local one and you can get married/ christened there? I probably made that up. But, if you happen to live in the parish, you are still likely to be quite posh.
