Friends pregnant girlfriend is in intensive care :(

DH's friends girlfriend is a week overdue with their first baby. She was rushed into hospital yesterday after collapsing and put in intensive care. She isn't getting enough oxygen to her brain but they can't deliver the baby until she stabilizes. They think she may have a blood clot and are carrying out tests today. I hope they are both ok. Her poor boyfriend doesn't know if he is coming or going. He is beside himself with worry as he thinks he will loose both of them

lucykatie · 04/04/2005 21:58

is there any news on your friends as i think a few of us are concerned.

Newbarnsleygirl · 04/04/2005 22:01

Yeah I hope everything is ok.

hunkermunker · 04/04/2005 22:42

Bump - kid, any news?

kid · 04/04/2005 22:46

Still nothing, DH doesn't want to bother him. I heard Dh receive a message on his mobile early this morning as he was leaving for work. I was convinced it must be from his friend. Turned out to be an offer from O2.
I'll nag DH to get in touch with him.
When I started this thread, I had no idea it would still be left unanswered (one way or the other)
I'm beginning to think it doesn't look good , but fingers crossed until we know.

Thanks for asking BTW

Has your DH's friend not said anything to their work?

I hope that everything's OK.

kid · 04/04/2005 22:53

The last he contacted work was to let DH know that his girlfriend was in intensive care, that was last Monday (Bank Holiday). DH told him not to worry about work and to let him know how things are. I'm positive he wouldn't take advantage of time off work which leads me to think the worst
I just feel that if they are all fine (surely the baby would have been born by now) then he would have let work know he is a daddy.
Hope I am wrong and they are just buried under a mountain of nappies and can't get to the phone. If that is the case, then I'm sure he'll get a telling off when he does call!

Can't you DH call round to his house and see how things are? He would be perfectly entitled due to whats happened so far....

We are all thinking of them all and hoping for a happy resolution [sad}

Dh tried to phone him yesterday but phone was switched off. Tried again today and got through to his girlfriends mum (who doesn't speak much English) and found out that the baby was delivered yesterday and both mum and baby are doing fine. Don't know if she has a girl or boy or any details of the birth, just glad they are both alive.

Thanks for following this thread and I'm glad it has had a happy outcome.
