RTKangaMummy · 24/03/2005 19:53

misdee?

sparklymieow · 24/03/2005 20:11

he was back on ward at 7pm. apparently a few things went wrong with fitting the device, due to the wires, but in the end they managed it.

he has read the leaflets on the ICD, and has to inform the DVLA that he has had the device fitted. He also is not allowed to drive for six months. so i am now under intense pressure to pass my test before may think he may have to fork out for the intensive course for me

misdee · 24/03/2005 20:12

and i';ve done it again oops.

dh is in a lot of pain. the scar looks horrible, and you can clearly see the outline of the device inside. its a simialr size to a small flip mobile phone. he now has a list of things to avoid which could affect the device. he was offered the chance to go to a support group but dh is in a different situation to most people who have an ICD/pacemaker fitted, in that dh only has it untill a heart is available, whereas other people have it for life, so not sure how good the group will be for him.

dh has the money in his account to cover an intensive course, so will call my instructor in a bit to see what he says.

misdee are you aware that the family fund will pay for driving lessons, would you qualify for help from them?
