misdee - my friend's dh has a "device" fitted inside him and he can hear it "ticking" which drives him mad - would this be the same thing?

PS: Glad to hear he's got it now though and you're all safe

do you know, I was going to suggest that maybe you might be entitled to some sort of financial bursary to help with your lessons, but thought I was probably being thick, knowing nothing about these things....

lou would i qualify as my kids have apointments out of the area, and as dh can no longer drive for at least 6months (and for a 6 month period if the device has to deliver a sdhock powerful enough to make him dizzy/faint/black out), i am now the main driver?

The pain is just from the surgery though, misdee? The pacemaker itself isn't hurting him? Has he got good painkillers? Is the pacemaker making him feel better (apart from the pain)?

The support group may be able to help him with strategies for living with a pacemaker even though he won't have his forever. Worth his while trying it a few times I'd have thought.

Hope lou is right about the family fund - good luck with the lessons

The pain is from the surgery, he has had loads of pain relief but it hasnt worked, not even the morphine.

he says he can feel the device 'pacing' his heart rate which is a bit weird, but he hopes he can get used to it.

main carer can get money for driving lessons iirc, and seeing as dh is unable to be a carer atm, i don't see why not.

just phoned my instructor. he cant do the hours i need, so has said to go with another instructor for the course. he is fully aware of the situiation, and has been very flexiable about the whole thing. feel bad about switching as he is a very good instructor.
