So the lump in my breast is sadly not a figment of my imagination.

i have been putting off going to the doctors about it, i cancelled appt twice then went and told her about other stuff instead
so i went yesterday, and she said yes there is a lump which is suspicious and neat?, now i am liking the neat bit but not really keen on suspicious.
so i have been refered to the hospital where steve had all his treatment, i will get an appointment within 2 weeks.
it is going to be a long two weeks i think.
does anyone know how long i will have to then wait for the results of the tests, will they tell me straight away?

I think pleased. I expect that they are just a bit wuiet at the moment. I don't see how they would know if it was worth seeing you straight away without seeing you first, if that makes any sense. It is more likely to be your kind GP trying to push it for you so your mind is at rest sooner xx

Keeping my fingures crossed - it is great that they see that people worry and try to get the app[ointment as soon as possible for them

I will keep my fingures crossed that it is nothing serious.

onlyjoking9329 · 04/11/2008 10:08

i am trying but failing not to worry.
this last year has been pretty tough and much of it down to steves cancer and death, you see before he was DX i wrongly thought cancer only happened to other families, know i know that not to be true i worry a bit.

you are bound to worry OJ. I think even having to go back to the same hospital is going to be bloody stressful in itself I am really glad they have sent you an appointment quickly though. Hope it is all okay xx

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 04/11/2008 10:11

Yes it si very scary when you know it can happen

You need to be quite tough to get through this level of worry, but I think you can do it

We'll be here though

vonsudenfed · 04/11/2008 10:11

OJ, poor you. I had to have an investigation after a mammogram found something odd, and one thing I was told was that 9 out of 10 lumps are benign; hope that helps you in the next fortnight.

ladytophamhatt · 04/11/2008 10:14

Oh god OJ.

I'll keep everything crossed for you.

Notquitegrownup · 04/11/2008 10:14

Just wanted to add some thoughts of support and encouragement to you, OJ. What a pain for you to have to deal with this, now.

I had an emergency appointment/mamogram last year. On a practical note, don't wear deodorant on the day. I wasn't warned not to, but it can affect the machine, and you have to fuss around washing it off with babywipes, if you don't know!!

Thinking of you and hoping that you will be able to celebrate the all clear with us soon.

onlyjoking9329 · 04/11/2008 10:27

thanks for the deodorant tip.
i met a lot of ladies with breast cancer in the radiotherapy unti whist steve was going there, one of my mates had a masectomy at the end of august, i am meeting up with her and another mate for coffee today, she wants to show us her newly aquired wig, this mate doesn't know about my lump and i dont feel i should tell her either.
it will be ok because it has to be ok doesn't it?

bythepowerofgreyskull · 04/11/2008 10:46

good luck OJ,
My Mum has had a few lumps removed, non cancerous. (thankfully!)
wishing you all the best

IAmNotHere · 04/11/2008 11:00

Oh bum, oj.

A friend of mine had a big lump which was thought to be related to her recent weight loss - she was fine, it wasn't anything to worry about.

Fingers crossed for you - it is v good it's a quick appointment. You will have less time to worry about it.

Thomcat · 04/11/2008 11:05

Oh no this worry is not what you need at all, so sorry OJ.

brokenrecord · 04/11/2008 11:15

Probably repeating others, but it's the fast-track referral system. My friend who's a gp says it's all or nothing, ie, either this 2 week turnaround or several weeks/month's wait. Doesn't necessarily mean anything. When I went to mine the nurses were complaining that gp's were sending teenagers, ie, low risk patients to that clinic. It's just an option for your gp to get you seen within a decent time-frame. I was very worried when the hospital called the day after the gp appt so I know where you are coming from.
