I feel sorry for you too. I am so miserable when I have a cold. In fact I am not very good at being ill at all! The thing is as a Mum you have to keep going which doeant exactly aid recovery, does it! A few months ago I was so ill I rang the docs in desparation I felt so bad. She ordered my Dh to come home so I could go to bed for 24hours. It worked, felt much better. Get well soon!

Twiglett · 15/10/2008 14:25

raises hand lethargically

LilRedWG · 15/10/2008 14:26

Had it for two weeks now - feel like shite too.

yama · 15/10/2008 14:28

I thought I'd escaped the compulsory holiday cold (October holidays in Scotland). However, it was merely delayed as the wee one had a bout of diarrhoea for me to attend to over the last few days.

Nothing for it but feet up and mn. No pressure to do stuff.

chequersandchess · 15/10/2008 14:29

Yes, me too

southeastastra · 15/10/2008 19:20

I was planning on starting a cold thread yesterday, but I feel a bit pathetic grumping about a cold.. my dd and ds are off school for the October hols (Scotland), so I feel like I am being made to suffer.

I really want to go to my friend's birthday night out this weekend, I have bought my train ticket(nearly £50), was going to have a child free trip to Edinburgh, now I feel I can't take my snotty cold there... my friend isn't well and going into hospital in just over a week for major surgery.

nickytwoooohtimes · 15/10/2008 20:07

DS is suffering, poor soul.
It's only a matter of time till I end up with it, probably when he is feeling better and bouncing off the ceiling.

Poor all of you.

Colds are evil.

nickytwoooohtimes · 15/10/2008 20:08

Oh, and I am in Scotland too. Definitely the tattie holiday effect.

Aefondkiss · 15/10/2008 20:20

does a cold ever only last a week?

I keep thinking of that saying "treat a cold it lasts 7 days, untreated it lasts a week", my colds always seem to linger.

I am trying hard to drink lots, chewing vit C and eating fruit/veg, in the hope that it might help.... I am also taking beechams capsules which help a wee bit.

nickytwoooohtimes · 15/10/2008 20:31

For me, it's rare that a cold lasts a week. More like 10-12 days with the dregs lingerign afterwards.

southeastastra · 15/10/2008 20:32

ds(15) had the cold first, his only lasted 4 days

FAQ · 15/10/2008 21:48

oh thankyou for the link SE.

May I join you all - I was absolutely fine this afternoon, now feel like total shite, my nose is running like a train and my head feels like it's going to explode.

I CAN'T have a cold now, I just can't - I have viewers coming on Saturday lunchtime and the house is no-where near tidied enough for them to look round.......

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/10/2008 09:27

i hate colds.
I just want to BREATHE!!!!!!
and i can't take anything. and DS is driving me nuts.

would i be better off staying in and "resting" (and dealing with a stir-crazy 3yo) or bundling up and getting out in the fresh air (and burning off some of DS's energy)?

southeastastra · 16/10/2008 10:14

i'm going to the doc about mine, it's killing me it's so painful

OP posts:
southeastastra · 16/10/2008 10:15

you will prob feel better if you go out purplemonkey

OP posts:
Aefondkiss · 16/10/2008 10:26

purplemonkey I have been forcing myself out with my dc, they are getting time in the garden and I actually can breathe better outside.... you might feel beyond tired when you get back in, but you will feel more justified.

southeastastra I think you may be suffering from more than a cold? I hope the doc has something to help you.

I need to see if I can get my train ticket for tomorrow refunded

I drank hot water, with 2 slices of lemon added, before bed last night, I think it helped a wee bit.... still feel crap and my dc are coughing now.... dvd time.

FAQ · 16/10/2008 10:29

I'm still in my PJ's (as is DS3) and feel awful. I have a horrible cold, and don't even know whether to wrap up warm, or wear something light - I'm cold now, but was boiling a few minutes ago. I'm also aching (probably due to not sleeping well last night) and really don't feel up to a trek into town, but I have to go.

I also need to finish tidying the house before the first viewing on Saturday.

Oh and I felt that shit this morning that I let DS2 walk next door to school on his own

LilRedWG · 16/10/2008 12:08

Two and a half weeks in and I think I may well go to the doctor this afternoon. I think I may have a sinus infection as I have flourescent green gunk coming out of my nose and off my chest. My head may well explode soon too. I was in bed at ten past six last night.

DD (2) has had it for the same length of time but is not as pathetic as me.

TheConfusedGhostoooohw · 16/10/2008 12:15

I'm om my 3rd one since the 14th August,

I WANNA STOP FEELING CRAP!

DoubleBluff · 16/10/2008 12:18
