For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

fumf is a huge sigh. the kind of sigh which encapsulates the fact that it is Monday, I am highly stressed; the fact that I have a week to make a life and death decision for ds about schools; the fact that its is chilly and grey and the fact that MN is riddled with horribleness at the moment...

Thank god for the fruiters

TigerFeet · 13/10/2008 12:06

I may shorten my name to tft, a sound which pretty much encapsulates how I'm feeling atm.

Sorry about school stuff, it's not what you sign up for when you consider becoming a parent is it?

Guadalupe · 13/10/2008 12:54

Fmv - don't be silly! I just thought there would be a map of guad as there was. Actually I've seen a better one but I won't annoy StG again!

My dinner was luvverly, thank you very much.

I have had choc cake for breakfast. Rather than losing another half stone in the next week I put 3 pounds back on. Oh well.

daisy99divine · 13/10/2008 14:08

Morning all I have been away for the weekend, DS and I went to stay with my sister and 3 lovely cousins - they are 13, 11 and 8 - DS totally overjoyed and knackered
F&V - apples, apples, apples - sister has large and productive tree. Banana, carrot, greens oh, and did I mention APPLES!!!

Guad - banquet box sounds fab, hope DH birthday lovely

Mou - boys in box sounds fab - rofl

Pink - will you have to become Blue SW and/or P&BSW as new name?

FMF - sorry you're having nightmare re schools, sounds horrid. And lol at Little Lord F - my niece came to my house and said "Daisy, will you get a proper kitchen soon?" referring to the small but perfectly formed galley kitchen in Daisy Castle I thought it funny, very funny, and then I kicked her little niecey butt out of the house

Interested in talk re MN - as a newbie to Yurt and MN as well I don't have this nostalgia but I have never got the hang of running lots of threads at once ... sorry that some of you find MN a sad and sorry place, I don't really understand all the "in" comments to be honest - but happy to leave it that way!

Can I be packed up in my corner of the Yurt and come to YN please?

daisy99divine · 13/10/2008 14:09

Oh, I would love to join the fmf and tft snuggle in mangoes please

daisy99divine · 13/10/2008 14:10

And, Osba, I am studiously not mentioning ANYTHING about your new essay

daisy99divine · 13/10/2008 14:16

realises Yurt is strangely empty

wanders off to a lonely corner to await other veggers ....

FrayedKnot · 13/10/2008 16:07

Please do not say my initials out loud

FK xxxxx

daisy99divine · 13/10/2008 16:15

Ha ha FK

I thought that fmf sounded a bit naughty (a fall on the bed in a fit of giggles) sort of name rather than a fed up sort of name - I guess it just depends on mood

Well, FK doesn't. Obviously

And D...D just sounds like I have a stutter

fumf · 13/10/2008 16:29

lol FK.

DD, don't be put off MN by my fumfing. It's just I have been on here a long time and seeing someone else's real world and MN world collide horribly has disquietened me.
And the trolls are multiplying...

Let's just collapse giggling on this bed of mangoes shall we?

I have failed utterly in F&V capacity today. Banana and salad (in a butty) only.
Lots of walking though.

fumf · 13/10/2008 16:31

osba - this is the first essay title of yours I actually feel I could make a decent stab at!
I'd probably exceed the word limit! (supermarkets would be a subject you'd want to avoid with me if We were at a party and I had had too much whiskey...)

hammouhouseofhorror · 13/10/2008 18:21

Was the banana in the butty as well fumf? sounds like an interesting combination....

Can I join in with the giggling...on tons of painkillers and it definately gives me a giggly head.

'hhmh', sounds snotty and intellectual as if I look over my spectacles at folk...think i'd rather just be mou.

We've got a dinky kitchen Daisy, don't get to do a lot of entertaining though. Our living room is tiny as well, you have to take it in turns to sit down.

Apple, apricot, tomato juice, apple juice....errrrrr, pretends to be too busy too remember.

Lovely bike ride,, prefect day too escape. Might try to run the distance of a half marathon on friday....

pinkspottywellies · 13/10/2008 19:02

today I cleaned the kitchen including the floor, hoovered the whole house, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the windows inside and out, sorted out dd's clothes with a friend for her dd, had two lots of friends round at different times and of course the usual nappy changes, 3 meals, washing, dressing etc. I fear I may have to stay in bed all day tomorrow

Pretty good veg day, by my standards! Haven't caught up with the thread but if there's anything I need to know can someone do me a synopsis!

FrayedKnot · 13/10/2008 19:30

Good grief Mou take it easy!

I saw some people running a half marathon the otehr dAY. They were near the end. Some of them possibly literally

I can run on a treadmill for about 12 minutes max.

I doubt I'll be entering a half marathon any time soon.

Fumf I'm sorry you're having a stressful start to the week

OB I did an experiment last year to see if we could shop totally outside the supermarkets and to see how much it cost. did it for about 2 months. It worked quite well, and wasn;t any more expensive, but it just took so much time - more frequent visits due to shopping on foot, and having to make a trip into town for most things.

Supermarkets sadly will have it on the convenience factor every time.

FrayedKnot · 13/10/2008 19:31

Sorry Mou and Pink, I should have said!

berolina · 13/10/2008 19:35

hello good evening.

SuperBunny · 13/10/2008 19:44

Ho ho! Pink (or I think I shall HAVE to call you Pink/Blue - sounds like you're nesting to me - are you sure you're 20 weeks not 40!!!

Dear fumf having made me so welcome here I shall come and wrap you in cabbage leaves and snuggle you into the mangoes I am sorry someone has had an MN and RL collide...

I like this yurt very much. It makes me feel snuggly and sheepskinny

My sister made encouraged me to skip while bouncing on her trampoline. It was as ugly as that sounds a tester for the pelvic floor

fallen down on food. finished off DS leftovers (organic carrots and blueberries though...) not much room for more!

TooTicky · 13/10/2008 22:38

I used to have my nose pierced - I tried to do it myself but it was too hard so had it done properly. I did one of my ear ones myself - leather needle sterilised in candle flame and an ice cube for numbing. I don't use any of my holes now as I became rather allergic to metal.

SB, if you get your nose pierced, you will get the most amazing crusty snot/blood/pus formations.

Apple, apple, apple. Pizza with courgette and sweetcorn. Chocolate cake.

TooTicky · 13/10/2008 22:40

Oh, and I rode dd1's bike halfway up the village to meet her. My legs are not used to it and I don't understand bike gears but I have her permission to use it if/when I get the chance.

SuperBunny · 14/10/2008 03:36

Ooo, I'm intrigued by 'amazing crusty snot/blood/pus formations' - almost worth it just for that!

Everybody ok?

OsmosisBOOnana · 14/10/2008 09:18

morning.

Have terrible hangover (don't start TooT!) which almost always happens when my M&D come to stay.

Went to see the Foals at the Academy last night with the rentals - why do these places insist on selling the cheapest, nastiest wine they can lay their hands on?? evil. The band on before the Foals (called Holy Fuck, odd) were awesome.

No alchyhol for the rest of the week methinks.

I was thinking the very same thing re: PSW / P&BSW Daisy.

OsmosisBOOnana · 14/10/2008 09:20

I may well take you up on that offer TFT. When I have written more than the title. Not due in until the 20th Nov.

Doing anything tomorrow TooT? I am feeling adventurous and have no lectures.

Where is LittleR??

daisy99divine · 14/10/2008 10:02

I have no nose piercing. Three in ears (I mean, two ears and three holes) felt bold at the time
I an intrigued at concept of nose ring giving you something sparkly to look at. I worry you will go coss eyed looking down nose all time....

or walk into things and have to tell doctor you were not looking because you were staring at your nose
