For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

havent heard from them toot but i would be better off with feweerr hours doing this one

as i would have to find a room to rent if i got the one near you and it is more hours so actually the pay is the same

not many retail jobs where they let you pick hours and have autonomy but of course i get keen and then get really disappointed like i did for the lasdt one

TooTicky · 12/09/2008 22:17

Fingers crossed for you

It is now the season when I spend much time standing under horse chestnut trees listening to rustlings, brief scuffles and joyful eruptions whilst vainly saying, "So, shall we go home now?"

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 00:51

Oh, TooT, you made me google. That's 2 shocking cakes in one day. Curisouly, the same search found a Thomas the Tank Engine cake.

I do that at the park. After 30 mins, I keep saying, "Are you ready to go home now?" Must go and look for horse chestnut trees.

Do you have a recipe for chicpea and spinach soup?

Job sounds promising, zippi.

Apple
Banana (2)
Mushrooms (1/2)
Lettuce at the ready

And I went for a RUN (on treadmill). Afterwards I did some yoga stuff but got stuck on the floor and couldn't get up again Am glad no-one else was there to see me.

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 06:07

Bleurgh. I just made some strange lettuce tea type thing. It is so vile it must work. I have lost count of the number of bananas I have eaten.

I suspect, if lettuce and bananas were the solution to insomnia, there would not be so many sleeping pills on the market. But what do I know?

Am off to bed in my worryingly wide awake and unnoticable fake-opium-induced sedation.

If I'm not here tomorrow, please worry. Wiki says, '...at least one fatality has occurred during an attempt to use [lettuce] for intoxication'

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 07:38

So, I think I can say it didn't work

mou · 13/09/2008 08:03

Everybody probably knows about this but can i recommend a book called Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal.? Tried to do a link but site wouldn't let me copy and paste. There are loads on Amazon.com, really really cheap and it turns up in charity shops and second hand bookshops. But it is my food bible.

LOL at strange lettuce fact SB, as i had been wondering what quantity i would have to eat in order for it to be affective...trying to find a supplement that contains lettuce as it might be cheaper.
Managed a 5 mile run last night and sleep broken but not awake all night..was starting to enjoy going on MN in the wee small hours.
Plus it is doubtful that i would get away with a run every night.

Congrats to the preggie folk on here, not completely sure of every one but you have all been lovely and welcoming.

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:06

5 miles. Wow. Well done, mou.

I wondered how much lettuce one would need to eat. Or if there were some other type of mishap.

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:17

SB, I just sort of made up the soup. It also had potatoes, carrots and onions. And a mushroom stock cube. I whizzed the chick peas because despite cooking them for hours, they still weren't as soft as I'd have liked. They gave it a lovely texture.

Lettuce tea? Sorry it was vile.

Mou, I have heard of that book but not read it - will look out for it.

A mystery wee appeared in the bed last night. Dd2 was EXTREMELY tired, so I'm not surprised it didn't wake her.

I also found something quite shocking near my pillow this morning but won't say what because I know some of you are sensitive

I'm not quite sure why we are all up so early on a Saturday

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:18

Something shocking?

mou · 13/09/2008 08:19

Awwww, sorry it didn't work SuperBunny..but so glad you are still here!!!!!

Some foods just seem right for bedtime snacking but image of eating big plate of lettuce in my pyjamas makes me smile. Apparently oats are good too.

Do you get a chance to catch up on sleep during the day?

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:21

Well, yes. Not what you expect to find and a bit worrying wondering what happened to it. Being a non-haring vegan'n'all.

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:21

Don't have DS tomorrow so can sleep in. But that tends to make the problem worse so I will try to drag myself out of bed at a respectable time and just be grumpy all day.

I might make some soup, like Toots.

And eat oats before bed tomorrow.

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:23

Toot

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:24

non-harming

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:25

I'll put it on Facebook, then I won't upset any 10/10ers

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:25

Was it a mammal? Or something else. Because a fish would be worrying. A spider, not so

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:27

Not sure how sensitive I am. You probably don't want to know this but my degree was in Zoology and I have dabbled in taxidermy...

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:29

Oh Toot, I just went on FB

rofl @ 'pieces'

mou · 13/09/2008 08:30

Intrigued as to what was on your pillow Toot....I'm up because DD has been to a sleepover and her friend had an early swimming lesson. But i love this time of day whenn the house is peaceful and the day is fresh (wet, but fresh).

mou · 13/09/2008 08:35

What a fab degree Superbunny...go on Toot, just whisper, i'm not on facebook.

We have a disgusting slug problem in our kitchen, it is next to damp backyard and lost count of times i've got up in the night, barefooted, come down to the kitchen, and you can guess the rest....ew,ew,ew.....

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:37

Hang on mou, I'll think of something....

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:40

"Because a fish would be worrying" erm, yes. Randomly appearing by my pillow, that would be quite odd!!

Mou, I have started a thread in chat with your name on it....

SuperBunny · 13/09/2008 08:41

Yeeeeuck, mou. Yuckity yuck. My toes are curling just thinking of it. Yuck.

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:42

Taxidermy, really? [fascination mixed with horror]

Dd2 seems to be having a morbid phase. We had to spend some considerable time studying a dead rat yesterday, and she came up with many theories as to how it might have died.

TooTicky · 13/09/2008 08:43

I once stepped on a piece of fresh spine in bare feet

I think slugs are quite sweet - not as sweet as snails - but I wouldn't want them in the house. I'd worry about them.
