For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Where is Cumbria? My knowledge of UK geography is scanty to say the least. I can however name all the states in the USA weirdo.

MamaG · 20/08/2008 09:20

os-ba its north west (higher than Manchester, lower than Scotland)

My geography is shocking too. I once took part in a thread about dishwashers and someone posted a link to a map of the UK with hard and soft water areas showing. I had to admit I wasn't sure where I was on the map

TigerFeet · 20/08/2008 09:22

Morning all

A banana

DD is really tired and whingy today minimum effort all round today hopefully to avoid full blown tired behaviour. We are making brownies and sweeties to take to nursery tomorrow for her last day, and making a card.

I need to get dressed

DD's toy hoover is poorly apparently and is tucked up on the sofa with a blanket . It looks very comfortable and will hopefully be feeling better soon.

Franny you need to give it time. nine months on nine months off, remember?

OsmosisBanana · 20/08/2008 09:24

I think it's one of those weird idiosyncracies of British schooling... You get taught about cloud formations and soil types and slum cities in Sao Paolo in geography but not where countries or even counties are in relation to each other.

Ah well. Could be worse. Still have yet to use Pythagoras' Theorum in a useful situation in life!

OsmosisBanana · 20/08/2008 09:25

DD needs a toy hoover. She is always pushing the nursrey one around when I pick her up..... And cleaning things with wet wipes...

She doesn't get this from me.

OsmosisBanana · 20/08/2008 09:26

Nursery obviously. Not nursrey. Uk.

TigerFeet · 20/08/2008 09:26

I used to live near Cumbria (Lancashire) but am now a squizillion miles away. My geography is fairly good, I am one of those people who discuss which way to get from a to b "ooh you could take the A1 then the M62, much better than trying to go across country, the M6 is a bastard and to be avoided at all costs" [saddo]

TigerFeet · 20/08/2008 09:29

DD's toy hoover is fab (when not poorly obv) it is a mini Henry and actually works

OsmosisBanana · 20/08/2008 09:32

gOOD LORD. Where do you find such an item? I could put her in charge of skirting boards and the like....

Or maybe I could give her the dustbuster as a 'toy'.....

TigerFeet · 20/08/2008 09:36

Et voila

zippitippitoes · 20/08/2008 09:38

HC if you are lurking you would have loved him
very posh with dark hair and most piercing blue eyes
and definite air of disreputableness

oh sigh at young rake....

i am franticalluy trying to help the boys construct bizarre star wars inspired costumes which are figments of their imaginations and involve a lot of silver spray paint and light sabres and brown rags etc. And we have several perfectly good dressing uo costumes upstairs. But no, apparently they are Not Good Enough.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2008 13:18
