For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Great title

Bero how old is DS? Could you be PM? Mine came back when DS was 5 months and still feeding squillions of times a day

But then my hormones are weird

FrayedKnot · 27/07/2008 13:43

I wish I could share BBBee, honest

berolina · 27/07/2008 13:52

Afternoon

FK he is 10 months, and with ds1 they came back at 6 months despite excl bf day and night (likewise ), so possible I suppose.

I don't mind my stuff being referred to the next day tbh. It's nothing I'm ashamed of and I was sober

Redcurrants. Blueberries. Peach. Ice cream

berolina · 27/07/2008 13:55

32°C here. Only 27°C on the balcony, phew.

berolina · 27/07/2008 14:03

Been thinking about your toms, Slur. When did you plant? Last year we planted at the end of April/beginning of May (had only just moved so not able to before) I don't think we had any till, ooh, August, and then we had billions. I remember just after ds2's birth in Sept sitting holding him and looking at the heavy plants. Thery never ripened but I think that was more because of the almost complete absence of a summer.

FrannyandZooey · 27/07/2008 14:40

oh hello this is a cute title
the yittle yam in question is as usual drinking milk for all he is worth

we have been discharged [slightly scared] we are home. i slept for 3 hours in my bed as soon as I got back

some lettuce with lunch
dried fruit with b/fast
dp at supermarket will have fruit feast when he returns

FabioThatFirggingCat · 27/07/2008 14:47

Hurray! You have been freed!

I have sent you an email that is far too long to bother to read. It says this

  1. Oh dear.
  2. Poor you.
  3. There there.

I'm sure it will be of no much help.

Because I only eat cheapo Tesco no frills catfud, and have never ventured on your superbly punned threads till now, I didn't know of your plight. Very sorry about that and even sorrier about poor ds2.

For you

berolina · 27/07/2008 14:47

Welcome back Franny Discharge is frightening. dh had to drag me out when we left with ds2, although I had been desperate to get out of there, because they left him on the bloody monitor until the last minute - 'but it just went up to 92 breaths a minute just then, are you sure he'll be alright ?' But it sounds really positive what the consultant said yesterday and it's so good he's feeding well.

I am off to the balcony to get into the paddling pool with dses.

ExterminAitch · 27/07/2008 15:35

welcome home, frank.

TigerFeet · 27/07/2008 15:46

Hurrah that Franny is home

Pink, you should try Sutton on Sea for a nice beach. A little bit up the coast from the hell that is Skegness or down the coast from the nightmare that is Cleethorpes but a lovely beach and fairly quiet. We like the beach at Mablethorpe too - if you stay out of the town it's fine

So no-one knows who Fabio is then? Or has she unveiled herself by emailing Franny? Come here kitty, if you tell me you can have some of this here freshly cooked chicken that I won't let my own cat have. Nice moggy.

DD and friend are splashing in the paddling pool in the back garden. I am trying not to melt [gloop]

FrayedKnot · 27/07/2008 16:02

Hooray! Fran and Yam are home!

How lovely it must have been to dive into your own bed.

Enjoy the fruit fest

The supermarket was a very nice place to be juts now

Now I've done the bit I could do in the cool, and need to start the ironing, and my face will soon look like this follwed by this

Have plugged in a fan which is toying with the air and not much more

TooTicky · 27/07/2008 16:11

I hope that cat is yurt-trained. I haven't quite got over our cat pooing on ds1's pillow a few months ago. I threw the pillow away. I couldn't bear it.
And no fleas I trust.

Welcome home Franny and Yam

It is hot.

We went to a garden centre and ds1 bought himself a cactus.

Dry roasted peanuts. They are not nuts, they are legumes.

TooTicky · 27/07/2008 16:12

Oh, we bought some Polish carrot and wild strawberry juice that tastes so medicinal that nobody can drink it. If you see it, avoid it.

We have been drooling over Polish pineapple jam though.

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 27/07/2008 16:17

well if your carrot and wild strawberry juice has polish in it, no wonder it tastes chemically Toot (sorry, gets coat)

THere is a Polish aisle in our local supermarket, full of wonderous exotic things. We buy the sesame pretzel sticks - they are blardy lovely.

TooTicky · 27/07/2008 16:19

There is a new Polish shop in nearest town. I do like to see a bit of variety

hi franny!

FrannyandZooey · 27/07/2008 17:54

ah you see I know who Fabio is [smuggery]

korma with cauli, raisins and loads of root veg (can't remember all, made ages ago and frozen) plus broccoli, carrots, and sweetcorn

ds1 had major meltdown this afternoon over supermarket trip
was fairly firm after the first few minutes - we've all just got to get on with this, tbh - I do sympathise but we can't be spending an hour doing comforting and negotiation every time one of us has to leave the house
anyway when they got back I did Proper Playing with bricks and dollies and things and ds dictated and illustrated a story about a sea monster
so - tick - to having done mummy bit with him I reckon
best I have managed all week anyway

ahundredtimes · 27/07/2008 18:03

Well I am sure you will be fascinated to know that since ds2's meltdown and my calling his bluff that Sunday two weeks ago - he now he jumps up every time we are going to do something, and says 'that sounds good' and 'yes Mum' and puts his shoes on.

I said to him today 'doesn't it make all the difference when you do this? Without the shouting?' and he nodded sagely and said 'Yes, it does doesn't it? It's much quieter I've noticed.'

So you've only got, um, what is it, three years to go?

Very tiring though, all that power play / not sure why I'm doing this / I appear to be irrational / actually I REALLY do mean this/ stuff though.

pinkspottywellies · 27/07/2008 18:04

Yay! Franny's home I had a bacon sandwich this lunchtime in honour of your release I hadn't had one since ds2 went into hospital out of lackofbacon respect

We went out this afternoon but everywhere was so busy we ended up in Toys R Us buying ThomasTheTankEngine generic trains. DD loves trucks, trains and tractors at the minute. She's supposed to do pretty, sparkly, pink girly things with me.

Just had big salad for tea, with spring onions and lettuce from the garden. And I've eaten almost a whole avocado today except the tiny bits I grudgingly shared with dh and dd!

berolina · 27/07/2008 18:17

Vegetable lasagne - mushrooms, carrots, courgettes, red pepper, peas
Salad - lettuce, more carrot, more red pepper, apricots , sunflower seeds

TooTicky · 27/07/2008 18:17

Trains are much more fun than pink sparkly stuff. Do you have brio-type wooden railway?

Franny, good luck with the meltdowns. Sounds as if you're doing brilliantly.

100x, I think youi should run parenting classes.

TooTicky · 27/07/2008 18:19

Dd2 wants to out on her tricycle but it is TOO HOT

Dd1 and ds1 have gone off along the canal on their bikes.

I don't know what I'm feeding people this evening. It's too hot for cooking.

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 27/07/2008 18:20

Yes, TooT. I think I'd be brilliant.

I'd line all the children up and say 'Shut up, I'm talking now' and then I'd say 'you need to give your parents a break guys. Give them some space, stop GOING ON so much. Show some respect You are NOT the only person in your house you know. Give a bit.'

And then I'd say the same to the parents.

And they could all give me £45 a session or something.

And then we could make cocktails and talk about shoes, and I'd ask the children unnerving questions which would make them a bit wary of me, except for the ones who made me laugh or had very bad attitudes (they would be my favourites) and it'd be GREAT.

FrannyandZooey · 27/07/2008 18:21

big bowl of fruit salad
was really really good
with very nice vanilla ice cream

ds2 is very kindly sleeping through dinner times
I fear he will be up half the night like last night, though, and [fret] I haven't got a lovely nursing chair or a little safe cot thing at just the right height to change him in
or an ensuite toilet and sink
OR AN EMERGENCY BUTTON
you know I see now how people get institutionalised
