For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Oh, I like those. I'd wear them. I would say they're trendy too, despite not being very up on trends.

berolina · 28/07/2008 00:14

I have a protuberance on the side of my right foot - which is wide anyway. I wear holes in shoes with it eventually. Have considered having it removed, but dh reckoned I'd be semi-immobile for weeks.

UnderRated · 28/07/2008 00:16

I like them but they are a bit clumpy. Which is fine is DD1 likes them and will be able to wear them. I always like things like that but they make me look like minnie mouse or something

UnderRated · 28/07/2008 00:17

I think trendy too. And they look comfy. If they didn't look ridiculous on me, I'd wear them. I like shoes that make me taller without having silly heels

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:17

They are similar to Clarks etc, but much sturdier.

Is your protuberance painful in itself? The thought of having it removed makes me feel quite peculiar, and it's not even my foot!!

OP posts:
TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:22

Dd1 likes the look of them. Will go for it then
(Cheaper than Clarks too!)

OP posts:
UnderRated · 28/07/2008 00:22

I don't like the idea of it being removed either. My mum has sticky outy bones on her feet that she says hurt but she won't get them removed. I wouldn't either.

berolina · 28/07/2008 00:24

It's not painful, but sometimes red and sore when I've been on my feet (= in shoes) for a long time.

I don't need elegant shoes (I have discovered crocs), and the thought of immobility for no acute reason is not edifying, so I am tending towards leaving it.

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:28

Do your crocs get smelly? (If you don't mind me asking!!)
I have sandals which are synthetic - great for beaches etc but I tend to wear them a lot in hot weather and they get quite stinky. I suppose leather sandals would be better.

OP posts:
berolina · 28/07/2008 00:32

No (AFAIK ), they are pong-free

What size are you? I have a pair of Jack Wolfskin sandals in fairly good nick that I'm not wearing atm because Berlin pavements can be pretty yucky tbh and I just don't feel okay wearing open sandals on them. plus I have crocs Wouldn't be able to get them to you before you leave but if you have an address there or you wanted them afterwards too you can have them

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:34

Ooooh...I'm a size 5

OP posts:
TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:35

Perhaps I am just a smelly person

OP posts:
berolina · 28/07/2008 00:38

I think they're a 4 - but hang on - 37? 38? thereabouts anyway - that might be a 5. (I usually wear 3.5/4, but I didn't buy these myself, I bought them from a friend who bought them and decided against them) Tell you what, shall I give them a wash (you can actually put them in the washing machine ) and send them? If they don't fit you various children can grow into them - they're quite unisex.

Am wilting away again - off to bed. Night

berolina · 28/07/2008 00:39

You are perhaps fragrant, my dear, but not smelly

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 00:40

Thank you - will reimburse you for postage
Good night.

morning

oh boco - that is the kind of thing i do - those 'god i am a crap parent' things happen probably weely to me.

ds had a doctor who fear thing after a few episodes - i remember we made up a story about the monster really being friendly and setting up a morris dancing group and winning at the olympics.

Could you make up a funny story about the aliens and - I don;t know - chocolate pants or something? It helps to move the subject of fear very much into a 'story' frame rather than a 'reality' frame.

DP bought very expensive peach juice that i would never buy. It is delicious though. Have had some for breakfast.

me today:

-peach juice

BBBee · 28/07/2008 08:11

(franny - have you seen the 'whose idea was it to wee into a nappy?' thread?

BBBee · 28/07/2008 08:11

)

berolina · 28/07/2008 09:07

good morning all.

Peach, redcurrants, pear, banana, and a dreadful way-past-its-best apple I didn't finish.

Are off out before it gets to 32° again.

TigerFeet · 28/07/2008 09:56

Morning all

Glorious day again Am in the office

F&V consumption is very very poor atm

I will attempt to rectify that later with lots of fruit salad and leafy salad - but I have left my lunch at home so will struggle to get anything other than sandwiches here. Sigh.

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 10:22

Dd2 got up at 6 this morning. I must learn not to stay up late.

I have to pack today, want to make an early start tomorrow.
I know that whatever I take, my mother will think it not quite enough and lacking in vital items. But she will not say so.
She is hoping I can find a book which she gave to me to read to the dcs, which we haven't done yet, but I don't think I can find it. She thought it would be a good thing to read to them at bedtime. She is sort of assuming that I wouldn't be reading them anything. I am quietly taking two Arthur Ransomes but I suspect she will be bringing around 17 alternatives and I won't get to read at all.
It actually doesn't matter, does it? But it does.
The dcs also behave worse when she is there. It would work better if she arrived halfway through the week but I think she is coming for the whole time.

Sorry, just wanted to vent a bit.

Bee, I like the Morris dancing monster

TF, sorry you have to be in the office

OP posts:
Boco · 28/07/2008 10:30

That's a good idea Bee. She slept all night and didn't mention it today, I hope it's forgotten, have learned lesson - no more scary tv.

we were up and at the GP early today, dd2 with the asthma is now covered in horrid excema too, and her horner's syndrome eye is droopy which has been making me rather anxious. He was as reassuring as he could be, and we have lots of nasty steroid and antibiotic creams which I don't want to use but will probably just to get it back on track.

Toot mother's can be very tricky can't they, I hope you have a nice time, maybe if she gets to do the reading you can have some quiet time to yourself? Does it work like that?

TooTicky · 28/07/2008 10:36

Oh no Boco, Poor dd2 And in such hot weather too.

No, I probably wouldn't get time to myself. I would probably be bf dd2. Or washing up.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 28/07/2008 10:37

Or just sitting there feeling useless.
