For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Night Guad.
by the way, what is 'Murgaretta'? Since your dd came to visit both dds say it all the time, they say your dd taught them and it's private and something to do with a secret and fairyland??

ahundredtimes · 21/07/2008 22:39

OMG. It's alien talk.

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 22:40

Oh, lots to read...

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 22:42

100x, will you come to the Ragged Hedge Fair? It is small and lovely and not too far away

ahundredtimes · 21/07/2008 22:45

Gosh. It sounds like a festival for field mice or something.

What happens?

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 22:53

here

My first festival, and just the right size, especially with children.
Good shows for children, lots of circussy things to play on, fire juggling in the darkness......

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 22:54

I am fretting about F and L.

berolina · 21/07/2008 22:55

I have now finished translating and editing dh's conference paper and am enjoying the festival talk.

I remember I have actually been to a festival. Berlin has sort-of festvals, free ones. The Carnival of Cultures which is a lot of fun with good music but parents and small children would get trampled on. The 1st May celebrations with bands and children's games and all very happy until teenage stone-throwers pretending to be anti-fascists turn up and fight the police and parents and small children get trampled on. Or trapped behind police lines. I have not done Berlin festivals since having children.

ahundredtimes · 21/07/2008 22:56

It looks very festive TooT. There's a healing centre and things. Are you going to go? I think you'll have a great time. I think everyone has a great time at these things. Sadly, I won't be here. I shall be in Italy, looking at shoes to wear to Latitude next year.

Right. Off to bed now. Sleep well.

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 22:57

I have just burned my toast.

Hello Bero

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 23:00

I am going to go if I can raise the funds before they sell out

Bbbee · 22/07/2008 00:31

hello

popped in before bed for some fra news. Oh dear - I hope the LLL lady is nice and helps her and wish them well.

Nice to see you back bocs - you know that thing I did last year in the summer I might do it again and I can see you.

100 - I have never been to a music festival - I am not really a musicy person - I mean I like it but I wouldn't camp in mud for it. I have been to literature festivals but I imagine that is a whole different ball game.

nighty nighty

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 04:27

I've never been to a festival either. Unless camping at the Wimbourne Folk Festival over 20 years ago counts? Otherwise, I'm in the Harvest Festival camp. I know all the songs...

I think Latitude sounds lovely. Raggedhedge sounds good too - I'd like all drum & digeridoo workshops and camping with music & a kids area and crafts and tractor trailer tours and organic food and a bat walk

Morning. I hope F and L are doing well today.

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 08:23

Hello all festival virgins and others...

I texted Franny yesterday and she said L was much happier and still a little darling

100, all the festivals I have been too (since Glasto - which I am too scared to go to now I am old) have been lovely and friendly with all sorts of people and shoes....though really, just a nice big pair of wellies seems to be all I wear now we only have dampness in the summer months...

Let's all go to Latitude next year!

My friend catered for 150 veggers and vegans yesterday so I sent yerrday evening sampling salted cucumber and lentil and roast pepper pate, and sweet potato and gambian pepper dip and cashew and redcurrant baklava!

Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 08:35

Oh good, I'm glad she seemed brighter. He had two good feeds yesterday and hopefully the le leche league woman will have been and helped out and been supportive.

They'll be home before we know it.

Sounds like a few of you had similar things, it must be quite precautionary then? Better to be safe with tiny ones.

MamaG · 22/07/2008 08:56

Good news that F seemed a bit happier. Fingers crossed.

TooTicky I've remembered how our paths crossed previously - when I got pg I was ina complete panic and namechanged to panic on here to Toopanickyothinkofnewname

Loads of people said "is it TooTicky?"

berolina · 22/07/2008 09:04

Good morning

Oh, that sounds good news of F and L

redcurrants

TigerFeet · 22/07/2008 09:23

Hurrah for positive news of the newest Zoolet

I am a festival virgin too. I am faintly embarrassed about it tbh. I never had the money when I had the inclination and now, well now I would probably go if dh were more inclined but it would be his idea of hell on a stick

Yesterday I did well - at least 8 portions I would say, helped along by a mahoosive stir fry with oodles of noodles and cabbage. It was nicer than it sounds.

Yet to eat anything this morning.

Bbbee · 22/07/2008 09:35

good news about franny - those in touch please keep confirming our positive vibes and concerns. Thanks so much for posting with her news - it is worrying so any news is reassuring.

Hope all well and good.

Today so far:

  • coffee beans
Boco · 22/07/2008 10:06

Good news about L doing good feeding and being happier - hopefully they'll be home tomorrow then?

FrayedKnot · 22/07/2008 11:21

Hello

Good to see some news of F & L...hope they are home soon.

Total f&v consumption thus far:

dried fruit

I think it's settled we are all going to a festy together next year, then?

Tiger leave DH at home

TooTicky · 22/07/2008 12:01

Ooh, fancy MamaG being mistaken for me. That makes me feel almost famous!!

Good good about F & L. Fingers crossed they will be home soon.

Fmv, can your friend be my friend too? People who cook vegan, especially in a big way, are rare indeed.

I am doing last cooking session in school this afternoon, using up remaining ingredients. Just over 2lb flour, 9oz sugar, 200ml oil. Can add cinnamon and apples from the garden, which will be fine when cooked.
Will be a bit experimental I think.

Watercress, melon, two grapes.
