For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello!

Tell me things TooT.

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:03

Dd1 went to secondary school for a day and now can't wait for September
She has decided that she is going to excel in German.

Ds1 wants to learn Italian and eat Italian food.

Ds2 has a cough but is perking up.
Oh, and a cataract

Dd2 was three on Tuesday

Now you tell me things....

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:04

You know Franny is still large I suppose.

ahundredtimes · 04/07/2008 23:05

Right.

DS1 in France all week, coming back tonight at 12.30. I may have mentioned that already.

DS2 been to Dorset. He had a good time.

DD been here, being pretty dreadful and high maintenance. I need others back to act as buffers.

Have been working hard. And um, that's it. Very boring.

Am pleased to hear about dd1, and the excelling at German. She's done Russian this year. There's no stopping here, it'll be Mandarin next.

ahundredtimes · 04/07/2008 23:07

What's a cataract. The Brontes father had one, and on the night it was taken out Charlotte sat down and started writing Jane Eyre. So, there may be an upside to this TooT.

Is it to be removed?

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:09

Hmm, not much Russian, it must be said.

Must have been v. odd having two out of three children away. No wonder dd was high maintenance.

Do you have to go far to collect ds1?

ahundredtimes · 04/07/2008 23:10

No, not far. Am sending DH anyway, but I am staying up too obviously. Am very much looking forward to seeing him.

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:11

A cataract, as I understand it, is a sort of growthg or cloudiness on the surface of the eye. No doubt a defence mechanism.
We are waiting to be summoned to Bristol eye hospital to see a specialist. Apparently techniques and treatments are numerous and varied.

ahundredtimes · 04/07/2008 23:13

I think my brother has, and glaucoma (which is cloudiness too isn't it?) A firework went off in his face on NY eve 1999.

He is in suprising good nick considering.

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:15

Ouch!
I know even less about glaucoma than I do about cataracts.

Seems ds2 is in for a lengthy process anyway.

ahundredtimes · 04/07/2008 23:15

Thank you for talking to me. Am going to watch Meryl Streep on Jonathan Ross because I heart her.

Go well TooT.

TooTicky · 04/07/2008 23:15

xxxxxxxxxx

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 09:44

100 if you come back I have been wanting to ask you about the poor people with the baby upstairs crying by itself to Mozart
I promise not to call them cunts this time

I have had orange juice
will eat in a bit
when I have a lie in I never feel hungry straight away, why would that be? I am always ravenous when I get up at 6 am or whatever

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 10:22

melon, grapes, mango, raisins

am going out to see ds do Mini Olympics
oh boy
he is convinced he is going to win EVERYTHING
I hope to god they have some crappy system going whereby every child wins for some spurious reason or I think our Saturday may be decidedly marred

OP posts:
TooTicky · 05/07/2008 11:33

It is v. quiet in here today.

Dd2 is Most Unwell.

Good luck with the Olympics Franny.

ds very cross as didn't win anything
"I don't like Max being so good at everything; I wish he couldn't do sports at all"
they usually have a lot of fun doing non competitive stuff, and team games - ds was so hyped up for this but of course he ISN'T one of the best ones there - I don't think this is normally drawn to their attention at all but this week it very much was
tricky isn't it

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 13:36

oh my word
avi there is a little orange hat here! shaped like a vegetable! it is very cute indeed, thank you. You are all jolly clever, I wish I could knit

ds is trying to wear it
have confiscated it

does it count as 1 of my 10 a day as it is shaped like a pumpkin?

FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 14:12

yes I understand
ds usually loves the sports session and they learn different skills usually and have a game ie cricket, rather than competing directly against the other individual children
he was very excited about it before it happened, but it did really point out who was the best and who the least able in the class - which I had never really thought about before, and certainly don't think ds had noticed

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2008 14:15

oh avi I was abysmal! I got stuck in the obstacle course - I think my bottom was rather big, oddly as I have no bottom now - and I got wedged under the bench we were meant to be wriggling through and took A LIFETIME to get through

the worst thing was people clapping when I finally got free
children don't like to be patronised do they
