Itchy eyelids, armpits, genitals… help

itchyscratchyburny · 15/04/2026 20:15

Hoping someone can give some suggestions. For weeks I’ve been suffering with itching. Started with my anus. It’s progressed to itchy genitalia - perineum, labia, inner upper thighs, armpits, and now my eyelids too 😭

I’ve got some very dry patches of skin here and there. Not sure if all related or possibly more than one thing going on.

Have tried: worming treatments, Germaloids, Canesten, vagisil, Actigel, moisturisers.

Daytimes are generally ok, but evening the itching starts again and once I scratch then the itching gets worse and I cannot stop until I’m burning and sore.

HELP… any ideas?

Your GP should really be your first port of call.

SwatTheTwit · 15/04/2026 20:16

Why on earth haven’t you been to the doctor yet? You need a dermatologist asap.

seasidesuzie2 · 15/04/2026 20:16

Should be swabbed so that any treatment can target specific bacteria/fungus causing this. Ask for an antihistamine also!

GarlicFind · 15/04/2026 20:28

Your description sounds like crabs. Could be scabies, but they very rarely infest the face and don't limit themselves to areas with hairs. Bacterial, viral and fungal infections are also possible - you really need to see a professional, especially with the involvement of your eyes.

Have you changed something you use in the shower - shampoo, shower gel?

TheAutumnCrow · 15/04/2026 20:49

See a doctor asap. Meanwhile use Hibiwash.

itchyscratchyburny · 15/04/2026 21:09

Not changed anything I use in the shower at all. We’ve changed laundry detergent but only to a Persil non bio from Fairy. Plus it’s only really those areas affected, not anywhere else, and wouldn’t explain the eyes. I’ll make an appointment at the GUM clinic for tomorrow just in case it could be crabs 😭😭😭 I have zero chance of getting a GP appt round here any time soon and keep thinking it will go away but clearly it’s not.

Have you been swimming? I developed a chlorine sensitivity. But certainly check with your GP in case it's not a skin problem

I once caught 'em from a borrowed sleeping bag. Itchy little fuckers!

awfulapril · 15/04/2026 21:26

Is it really itchy between your fingers? If so, it's scabies.

awfulapril · 15/04/2026 21:26

Scabies often worse at night as well. My student son had it, very common in student housing shared towels, shared sheets, et cetera.

OriginalSkang · 15/04/2026 21:28

This sounds like classic fungal rash - jock itch

Daktarin cream is what you need

AntonNewcombesHat · 15/04/2026 21:29

I don’t know how old you are but I’ve been itchy as hell at night in all these areas since menopause started

GarlicFind · 15/04/2026 21:31

GUM clinic's an excellent call. OP. They'll be able to identify - and treat - any bug or fungal infection. They'll also be able to tell you if it's not one of the things they deal with, so you'll be a big step further forward either way.

gamerchick · 15/04/2026 21:33

How old are you?

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 15/04/2026 21:33

More than likely the change in washing detergent.

Yes I had to buy some anti itch balm a few years ago when first started in peri, was a saviour at night. Then for some reason stopped being so bad, then after that I started taking magneisum for other things and havent had a massive repeat although do still get dry and itchy and sore eyes from time to time.

Slightly off base but have you tried taking antihistamines? Might be worth a go in the meantime
hydromol is good to wash with, totally none irritating
