Does anyone not drink water

Always hear about people drinking 2 litres of water a day and if I did that I would pee about 20 times a day.

Ever since I was a kid water just immediately runs through me even half a glass of water would send me to the loo.

I have been aiming for at least 2L a day for the last year or so (to help with low blood pressure), I was peeing a lot to begin with, but my body adapted. I find I go less with room temperature water too, especially in winter

TotallyBogusYeah · 18/03/2026 22:44

I do try, but like you, it means I spend all day in the loo. The other morning I drank one cup of tea and one small glass of water by 9am. By 12 noon I had been to the loo 7 times - it’s just not practical!!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/03/2026 22:49

I drink a lot of tea/herbal tea, but not much actual water.

dollytea · 18/03/2026 22:51

i’m pretty sure I went years without drinking water, I would probably have 3 cups of tea and a can of Diet Coke a day

Wonderknicks · 18/03/2026 22:52

I only drink water in the gym or playing sport. Get plenty in tea, though!

shellyleppard · 18/03/2026 22:52

I have a pint of water with my morning medication. The rest of the day I drink squash and the occasional cup of tea

MissAmber · 18/03/2026 22:55

Yeah I wish I could drink 3 litres and go to the loo a couple of times a day but no chance of that.

i wish i could drink lots of water. i dont like the taste. i have tried all brands of bottle water, filters and boiled water too.

SilenceInside · 22/03/2026 19:17

I drink lots of tea and coffee, sometimes herbal tea, or occasionally sparkling water. I have never liked just plain tap water and can’t force it down in the volume that you see suggested on threads on here.

frecklejuice · 22/03/2026 19:19

I hate the taste of it so I just drink squash like a child!!!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/03/2026 19:20

I don't like water either. I can drink it with cordial in but not plain. I have no idea why, as it doesn't taste of anything but I just don't like it.

When I was in Crete I forced myself to drink at least three litres a day (we were in a heatwave, it was around 40 degrees C). I had to keep peeing to the extent that it was ruining my holiday.

I drink loads of tea at home though.

My husband says that all the time but it definitely has a taste!

minipie · 22/03/2026 19:22

I’m the same.

I’ve been told that if you consistently drink more, over several weeks or more, your body gets better at using it and the “straight through” effect dies down.

I’ve never got that far…

boingboingboingboing · 22/03/2026 19:23

I drink loads of water, probably 2 or 3 litres a day, and then tea and coffee on top of that.
i go for a wee no more than once three or 4 hours.
but… I do have a freakishly large bladder
during Covid, I was very bored and measured 😂

damelza · 22/03/2026 19:23

Liquids of any sort (without sugar obv), and yogurt, soup etc. all count for hydration. Too much water is dangerous and can lead to low sodium levels (hyponatremia). The water phenomenon is largely influencer driven. Yes drink water if you want to and feel thirsty, but not because you are told you must. You don't have to chug gallons of the stuff, provided you are getting enough fluids through the day. If your pee is clear you are getting enough.

Dartania · 22/03/2026 19:23

I take a bottle to the gym but don’t drink much of it. I take a glass to bed and have a sip to swallow magnesium tablets. That’s the only water I drink. Virtually none.

If I drink more than hardly any, it goes straight to my bladder. I drink a couple of diet cokes a day, maybe one cup of tea. My pee is always pale. My skin is great. I don’t think I need much liquid.

TheDogsPerson · 22/03/2026 19:27

I drink mostly water, but not 2 litres. I’ve seen people saying they drink 4 litres.😅

I probably drink about 1 litre of water, then tea with oat milk, green tea, peppermint tea most days. It’s probably less than 2 litres most days altogether, but even with a lot of exercise, I find it’s enough. We get liquid from food too.

MissAmber · 22/03/2026 22:19

4 litres of water and I would just have to move in to the loo😂

I'm the same. I was trying to explain to my DC that it just sits in my bladder being uncomfortable until I can get to a toilet. Other drinks don't do this to me.

It doesn’t have to be liquid. The recommended daily water intake includes the water in solid food.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 22/03/2026 22:26

I do, yes. I didn’t for a while, then I started drinking 1.5-2l a day, and my kidney test results significantly improved.

likelysuspect · 22/03/2026 22:32

Tea and coffee but no water. Perhaps around 1200ml of tea/coffee a day.

Georgiepud · 22/03/2026 22:35

I'm not keen on tap water which means I buy bottled water in plastic regularly. I pour the water into a flask or drinks bottle when I'm going out cos I feel kinda guilty.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/03/2026 22:43

I find drinking water a bit meh, and I won't pay for bottled when it's free from the tap.

I have a large mug of tea and two large muhs of coffee before 1am. Usually a decaff mug after lunch and a peppermint mug late afternoon. Usually a couple of wine glasses of slimline tonic in the evenings.

Somewhere, I'm sure I have read it's about the overall hydration and the flyid can be mixed with tastier things. Coffee is good for your liver!
