Does anyone not drink water

Always hear about people drinking 2 litres of water a day and if I did that I would pee about 20 times a day.

Ever since I was a kid water just immediately runs through me even half a glass of water would send me to the loo.

The more you drink your bladder will just get used to it and the loo frequency will settle down

likelysuspect · 22/03/2026 22:59

This has never happened for me.

Some of us have issues such as peri menopause, fibroids which mean frequent need to wee.

My bladder ruins lots of days out and journeys.

One afternoon, I left the house at around 2.30 to get somewhere for 6, used the loo 7 times in that time.

AdjacentPossible · 22/03/2026 23:03

I don’t drink a lot of water either, and wonder if my thirst reflux doesn’t work or something.

I often think of spend all day on the loo if I drank 2L.

Morepositivemum · 22/03/2026 23:05

Drank loads when younger (mid 40s now), but now, no, they look at you when you ask to go to the bathroom in work so drink some on my days off but with school pick ups it mostly doesn’t work!

TeaSqueezingpos · 22/03/2026 23:08

I want to be the person that drinks 2-3l a day. But I have to look after 8-15 kids every afternoon and I can’t leave them unattended to go pee every 5 minutes 🤣

Blueeberry · 22/03/2026 23:08

I probably drink around 1l of plain water per day (sports bottle of Evian whilst at work or we always have sparkling in the house - I refuse to drink tap!). The rest is coffee and fruit juice. My vice is a daily can of Coke with dinner but I suppose there’s worse things to be doing!

Chapsticks · 22/03/2026 23:25

I only drink water and coffee.
The small 500ml bottles i have about 2-3 aday.

HellsBells13 · 22/03/2026 23:28

I drink 3 litres a day of Highland spring. Even the cat only drinks mineral as she hates tap water.

Twodogsisbetterthanone · 22/03/2026 23:32

I drink a 2 litre bottle of sparkling water and it lasts me a week. Even that tiny amount gets me up four times a night for the loo.

Chewbecca · 23/03/2026 15:19

I drink at least 4 pints of tap water a day, I really like it, no idea why!

However I do use the loo quite a lot too, at least hourly. I don't consider that a problem though?

If I am travelling and won't have access to a loo for a while, I do have to restrict my liquid intake.

Sidebeforeself · 23/03/2026 15:32

I thought there was a lot of research now that says drinking in excess of 2l per day is not beneficial and can actually be harmful? Anyway, I definitely dont drink enough. I drink tea and coffee but the only soft drink I like is sparkling water. Plain water just doesnt quench my thirst and I shudder at the thought of drinking tap water.

olderbutwiser · 23/03/2026 15:34

Almost never. Drink gallons of tea, and my pee is as pale as the finest sauvignon blanc. Hate water, if I find myself drinking plain water I know I am very very thirsty indeed.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 23/03/2026 17:49

I don’t. Two decaf coffees and a can of Diet Coke per day usually. Holidays an exception.

JohnTheRevelator · 23/03/2026 18:16

I probably drink about a litre of water a day in tea and coffee. I also drink about another litre in squash or soft drinks. I'm not keen on water on its own unless it's flavoured. I used to worry about not drinking enough water on its own but the advice has changed over recent years, and it doesn't have to be just straight water, water in tea coffee and even some foods count towards it. I tried a few years ago to drink 2 litres of water a day but I was needing to wee so often, day and night, that I gave up!

SwedishSayna · 23/03/2026 21:52

This thread is eye opening! Can't believe the number of people who don't drink much water! I probably have about 1.5l tap water a day with a few cups of tea on top.

Torchout · 25/03/2026 21:53

You dont need that much water. You need liquids, tea & coffee count. As do herbal teas. If to take it as a drink with a meal and one in-between a meals

If you're having problems with overnight peeing you may have issues with your kidneys.

Is it yellow or clear. If its clear you may have problems

momager22 · 25/03/2026 22:05

Today I've had three pints water and two large decaf coffees plus a cup of tea. I've been to the loo 3 times since 8am.

That does not ruin my day.

I find if I drink caffeine though, it will be multiples of that. Caffeine is not only a diuretic but irritates the bladder.

That's worrying.

If you are menopausal age you would probably benefit from vaginal oestrogen cream if you don't already have it. It stopped night time wees for me. Miraculous stuff.

OhFuckyNell · 26/03/2026 13:40

Only when I'm thirsty

Enrichetta · 26/03/2026 13:49

We are so lucky to have clean and readily accessible water on tap…

You know that the 2l of water a day thing is bollocks, don’t you?

mjf981 · 29/03/2026 02:14

I think our body tells us when we need water. And some people need more than others to maintain hydration.

If you're peeing it all out soon after drinking, then you don't need it. If you did, your body wouldn't eliminate it.
