Just that reallyz just put my son to bed and came down stairs, and suddenly my eyes went funny, flashing lights, blurred vision and now it's almost like a multicoloured zig zag pattern. Even in the dark or with my eyes closed. I've started to get a bit of a headache too. I am having a very stressful time, and I've cried a lot today, not eaten much etc. I'm terrified I'm having a stroke or something. Any one experienced this

I suspect the migraine diagnosis is correct. The headache can go on and off for a few days after the start and leave you feeling generally crummy ish. I've had migraine since a teen and in different phases of my life (now mid 50's) they've been frequent and horrendous and a other times they've disappeared for over a year and then come bac occasionally. Hormones changes and diffferent stressors behind them. Sometimes mental stress, or dehydration or not eating enough, having too much or not having any caffeine... the lighting, smells can the trigger, or too much chocolate/sugar, too much exercise. You mention jaw and neck being tight - that can do it - low blood flow/constricion can do it. Caffeine can help with this. Caffeine can cause a migraine but be really helpful during one. I highly recommend you applying a reguar ice pack on your neck and and jaw - do it lots. When you have a migraine headached pains, you can use an iced head cap which can be amazing. I often have found mysef lying in a gutter or on cold bathroom floor tiles to try and ease the pain and feel less sick. The minute i sense any ind of headache I nip it in the bud. The only dose that really nips it in the bud for me is two 500mg paracematol with 600mg ibuprofen when I've not been able to get pain meds down me fast enought and so the headache pain is thumping and incapacitatingly bad and I have to then go to bed in pitch darkness and ideally with ice packs and shut my eyes and pray to go to sleep as if I actually do sleep it can re-set me and I wae up feeling crazy relief that its subsided. In the days that follow I have to reguary take paracetamol or ibuprofen as a low leve l headache can eep coming back for a few days. I feel for you. I've been taken to A&E by ambuence three times in my ife with migraine and been given morphine and anti emetics when I've collapsed in public and been unable to move or speak and then vomited constantly. Twice they've put me in a cupboard on a trolley so I could be in the dark whist the meds kicked in enough for me to be able to go home. My last savage attack came after I had concussion that triggered vertigo. I was so so sick and was in hospital for something unrelated - the pain sent my bp through the roof and my temperature and the nurses applied ice constantly to help with the pain and tried to help me breathe through it. I seriously thought I was going to die, that my brain must be bleeding or something, I was so terrified by the amount of pain. When it finally died down, the relief was just amazing and i hugged the nurses and cried so much from being thankful to them being there to see me through it.
