Anyone else with the flu?

I’ve read and heard about a strain but my goodness I’ve not ever felt so ill!

A week ago I went for walk with my toddler and came home and it hit, coughing, aches, headache and never been so ill where I’ve been in bed or sofa/ blankets

with 2 children and a husband who works and can’t really get time off work, I’ve been unable to even get off the sofa. Absolutely debilitating

I’m just posting for solidarity- anyone else with it?
called in sick, not had a day off in years as I normally battle though but day 6 and I’m fed up

I’m exactly the same- been ill since Wednesday, I’m still off work today and won’t be back in tomorrow. I’ve been in bed most of the weekend so today thought I need to get on top of washing whilst DC at school and I’m wiped out again.
Really chesty cough now and sore chest but I’ve had aches, headache, shivers, insomnia, coughing non-stop.

Yep, I’ve been laid up since last Tuesday. I feel absolutely awful and see no end in sight. Not sure where the weekend has gone and decided today I wasn’t fit enough to even open my laptop to work - totally unlike me. I now have a terrible chesty cough having gone through endless rolls of toilet tissue with the dreading nose drip - which has left me with cracked sore nostrils 😩

I have a GP appointment tomorrow for another matter following econsult I did 2 weeks ago but ill get her to check my chest although pretty sure its all viral. As I have a double appointment so im sure she will be ok to check my obs. I did my own heart rate and it’s 59 which is low for me then googling all sorts. Stupid I know but actually want to yet back to work, normal life! I’m off until Wednesday I told work and hoping back for Friday but I’ve read these virus’s have been wiping people out - used to think the cold/flu was a week but it’s a week tomorrow for me and if anything I feel like I’m getting worse 😭

Id probably ring and ask if it's ok to bring flu to the GP OP.

I've got a horrible cold virus but I don't think it's flu. Not been off the sofa for 3 days, apart from to go back to bed! 🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️🧟‍♀️

I think I’ve got a cold virus rather than flu too. Been quite bad though. Really snotty and headachy. Now feel fatigued and washed out and look pale. Anxiety has been bad today. Not fun. Hope everyone feels better soon x

Both me and DH have had it since the beginning of last week! We think he caught it at work, one afternoon he came home coughing and feeling rough and then 2 days later I started coughing and felt really unwell! It came on really quickly! We both have never felt so ill, despite having been vaccinated! We are only just beginning to feel a little better! But we’ve both got awful coughs now!

I’ve had a dreadful lurgy since a week Saturday so that’s eleven days now. I don’t think it’s flu as I haven’t had a temperature although I do get shivers.
Full of snot, sneezing and coughing for days; no more sneezing but the cough is relentless. I can’t lie down without it kicking off and waking me up constantly.
does anyone know how long it’s likely to last? And my lower back is killing me! 😐

The week between Christmas and new year, I felt rough as a badger’s arse 😕
Fever that came and went, snot, cough, sore throat - all of it. All the other symptoms went away, but the cough really lingered. I’ve only really stopped coughing (especially at night) this week.
And then today? A whole new wave of a constantly runny nose, and feeling a lot of pressure in my sinuses has started up again 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I only found I have flu by using an influenza lateral flow test I’d had for a while. I felt a bit rough, did the test and it showed positive for Influenza B. I’d have out it down to a chesty cold.

I had a day off feeling freezing cold, then really congested in my head. And then the cough from hell started about 3 days in. It’s brutal. And I’d had my flu jab.

For me I’m out of bed and wouldn’t call it flu now and my husband said I appear ‘brighter’ but honestly I don’t feel any better I think it’s because im out of bed and doing more - I know he says save it all for him when he’s home hut honestly the house is messy and I’ve been doing little bits such as washing loads otherwise it’s just piling up. But any chore just floors me again. So resting where I can. The cough is so bad, I sound sinusy, aches not really there anymore apart from where I think I’ve pulled my stomach muscles coughing and my lower back kills. Heat packs and paracetamol are my friend. So tired and just want to sleep. Toddlers at nursery tomorrow and I’m not working so can rest more tomorrow

Coughs can linger im afraid, mine is still there and so tickly, bloody annoying

I’m only in day 3. Feel appalling and I’ve had the flu vaccine!

I live on the other side of the world so its blazing summer temps here & me but DH have been knocked sideways with Influenza A.

Goodness knows where I got this from - maybe the plane trip to pick up grandchild but we all have had body aches, temperature, coughs - the works. And grandchild was visiting who got sick too & she has been tested back at her home to prove what it is. I've done the flu jab too ... & it truly feels like I've been run over by a bus

It’s day 8 for me now and honestly I do not feel any better! I’m so fed up because I’m just thinking the next day I’ll be feeling better. I am out of bed but only because I’m laying there not sleeping and over thinking why am I not better?! Oh dear sounds like it’s a bad one this year 😭

Influenza A here. Do you all have coughs? I do not yet.

I had flu/cold to start then followed by a cough it’s all in my sinuses now

I first had flu Christmas 2024, ill for about 10 days, with 2 days in bed in the middle.
Then for nearly nine months I had the same cycle, start to feel better, then floored again. Lots of tests, no explanation.
Left with mild asthma and continual morning cough.
The cough got more prolonged a couple of weeks ago, then I caught a cold, and now I've got a bad cough, can't sleep because of it.
I'm so fed up of it.

Mammut which day did your cough start? Did you have the flu vaccine? I'm still in the snotty achey stage but hoping I'll avoid the cough.

Cough started a few days before I felt ill. Has got much worse. I had the vaccine in December, hoping it will help a bit.

What counties are you all in?

I really want to try and avoid getting this flu and have quite a bit of travelling to do in the next 2 weeks

I’m in Scotland but got ill just after I got home from a trip to Germany.

I’m in Kent, apparently there’s a lot going around here
