Fed up with the number of times I poo every day

Alleycat321 · 14/09/2025 22:17

I get up and have a poo straight away. I then have a shower. After breakfast, I need another poo within an hour which annoys me as I am already clean for the day ahead.

During the day I probably have another 2 - 3 poos. I feel less clean as the day progresses because of this.

I used to dislike seeing bidets when travelling abroad but now I can see how relevant and useful they are.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

Yes.
Mounjaro cured it.
I've gone from having my bowels open 6 x a day to once a day since using MJ.
It's been life changing.

Realisation14 · 15/09/2025 06:39

Yes I open my bowels this many times per day too but I am diagnosed with IBS. What are you stools actually like in size, are you passing a little or a lot each time and are they formed?

Sundaymorningcalla · 15/09/2025 08:02

The frequency of my bowel movements depends on what I've eaten, but on a normal day (2250 cal) I'll poop once.

If I have a cheat day and consume 6-7000 calories it can be 5-6, or if I've eaten spicy food.

Ultimately it depends on the volume of what you eat, the first response about mounjaro is bonkers, the real reason she or he is pooping less is because they're eating less. It's got nothing directly to down with MJ.

Your cheat days entail 7000cals???

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 15/09/2025 08:12

That does sound a lot but I’m presuming the consistency is fine and you don’t have pain as you haven’t mentioned this?
Does what you eat affect frequency?
Is your weight stable?
Do you have any medical conditions (not necessarily related) or take any medication or supplements?
How do you feel in general, do you feel well?
Has this been your normal pattern from childhood?
I’m a retired nurse and bowels are a subject of interest to me!

Sitdowny · 15/09/2025 08:13

Take a bottle of water out with you and wash yourself with it after you go. It will make you feel cleaner. You can also take wet wipes and put them in the bin.

Typically in a deficit of 1500 a day, 7000 cals is easy when you factor in breakfast, takeaway and alcohol.
I'm on a cut and still losing 2lb a week.

5'11 M 78kg, body fat at around 13%. With daily exercise my TDEE is around 3750 cal.

NormasArse · 15/09/2025 11:10

Taking a probiotic has helped me. I do fewer, but more satisfactory poos, if that makes sense?

It used to be 7 times a day, but I’m down to two or three good ones with less ‘residue’ (a cleaner wipe 😃).

I buy Boots’ own Good Gut.

Greysowhat · 15/09/2025 11:54

Carry some wet wipes with you. Unless you're having explosions I can't imagine there's much cleaning up to do anyway. Very occasionally a really good poo won't even leave anything on the toilet paper, I like to call it a ghost poo!

Portakalkedi · 15/09/2025 20:29

Maybe IBS? Try psyllium husk

suffedpeppers · 15/09/2025 20:32

Gluten could be the problem. Get tested for Coeliac disease.

arcticpandas · 15/09/2025 20:39

Oh it happens to me as well. Today I have been 5 times. And then I can get constipated for a couple of days. It's really annoying. Did a coloscopy recently and all good so no idea what's going on because I basically eat the same thing every day.

katepilar · 15/09/2025 20:46

Perhaps taking probiotics could help you get healthier microbiom that would make you poo less often.

Okiedokie123 · 15/09/2025 20:50

Why would having a poo mean you arent clean? (a wipe away as necessary, job done!) But yes I do get that pooping that many times every day must be tiresome. Have you looked at your diet to see if its something you are eating thats causing it?

itsgettingweird · 15/09/2025 20:54

I buy flushable toilet wipes from Aldi. I just use for last wipe for a clean!

Mangolover123 · 15/09/2025 20:56

Happen to me. Went on the Fast800, cut out carbs and gluten, now on Mountjaro.
Had all the tests and a colonoscopy but nothing obviously wrong. Changed my diet, reduced my food intake and now much better.
I recommend Wype gel, I take that with me to make sure I am clean

keffie12 · 15/09/2025 21:03

Yes I do! I found out a few years ago after a colonoscopy that the reason for all my bowel problems is I have a tortuous colon (in other words my colon inside me is twisted and loopy) If you have something like that stuff all you can do about it

I’m so glad OP made this post! Having similar issues, I don’t know if being in peri is behind it but previously just had one healthy poo in the evening every other day but now at all times - sometimes middle of the night! 🤦🏻‍♀️ And they’re so much looser it’s really getting me down.

Can I ask how long it took for you to feel the effects of the supplement you took?

Bubbles332 · 15/09/2025 21:13

Have you given birth before? That can cause poo probs. You might have a little rectocele or something. Physio can help, but obviously you have to weigh up whether you like pooing loads or having bum physio less.

Please don't flush them, there is no such thing as flushable wipes

Edited

Not long at all! A few days? I find if I forget to take it for a few days, things get icky again, so it’s an everyday supplement.

Jk987 · 04/10/2025 19:03

You must eat a lot and/or have a nervous stomach

Creepybookworm · 04/10/2025 19:07

I recently changed my diet and now have more fibre and more vegan food. I now poo loads more and feel far less bloated and uncomfortable. It is not about how much you eat!

livelovelough24 · 04/10/2025 19:13

If I were you OP I would get it checked. This can be a symptom of various conditions some of which are pretty serious. Once you have diagnoses you can decide how to treat it.
