Fed up with the number of times I poo every day

I get up and have a poo straight away. I then have a shower. After breakfast, I need another poo within an hour which annoys me as I am already clean for the day ahead.

During the day I probably have another 2 - 3 poos. I feel less clean as the day progresses because of this.

I used to dislike seeing bidets when travelling abroad but now I can see how relevant and useful they are.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

For those wondering why one ends up feeling unclean if you’ve ever had bad piles ( as I did after prolonged pushing in labour ) you can get left with excess dangly skin on the anus, very hard to clean without using something like a bidet bottle or loads of wipes.
i have very active bowels, if I eat a very bland meat and potatoes diet they are usually OK but I like garlic and pulses and vegetables and coffee!

LapinR0se · 04/10/2025 22:58

I have IBS. Usually I poo every morning around 7.30 after my coffee and that’s it for the day.
But on a bad day I will then poo at least 3 or 4 more times. It strikes generally after eating and I have no idea what the triggers are.
if I can’t find a loo I have debilitating cramps, gurgling noises and pain.

I heard it's healthy to poo more often? is that wrong?

childrenwatchthefools · 05/10/2025 09:17

Do you eat a lot of fibre? I poo a lot (maybe 4 or 5 times most mornings and quite a lot 😳) but I eat a very healthy diet with a lot of veg / fibre and no meat / fish so mostly lentils / veg/ pulses. It can be annoying if I’m travelling for work etc as I need to plan carefully. What is your diet like? Have you always been like this? I’d only start being concerned if it seems unusual or the poo doesn’t look ‘normal’ iykwim.

I had similar problems although id have days with nothing. After analysing my diet I found that I was worse if I had anything with barley in it. Ive now eradicated barley and dont have the bloating either

Did you know barley contains gluten.
Is it gluten you are intolerant to?

DrCoconut · 11/10/2025 21:33

Since my coeliac diagnosis I have gone GF and that has helped me quite a lot but I am developing other sensitivities/intolerances. Hospital consultant says these are not harmful to me in the same way that gluten is and it's up to me to either limit or eliminate any triggers or tolerate the results. New triggers include peppers and aubergines and I'm looking at a certain brand of instant coffee possibly upsetting me too. And iron tablets have me running for England, I am at risk of having an embarrassing accident while I'm on them. Unfortunate as my ferritin is usually low (not enough for infusions though). It sucks but I guess it is what it is. I would get it checked out though, being referred to gastroenterology has given me some kind of reassurance about my symptoms.

Wow that's a lot. I poo 2 or 3 times a week and the paper is always completely clean after wiping.

I buy flushable toilet wipes from Aldi. I just use for last wipe for a clean!

Please don't flush those "flushable" wipes. They should always go in a bin.

houseonthehill · 11/10/2025 22:08

I go 3-5 times a day and have done so throughout my adult life. No accompanying issues, everything normal. If it’s how you work, it’s best to leave it alone, I think.

TwinklyStork · 11/10/2025 22:12

Ah look, an OP starts a thread about how many times a day they poo then vanishes. Probably fapping away to the responses as we write.

I feel your pain. Maybe this will help:
