Cerazette users - how typical does this sound?

My periods haveen all over the place since starting this pill nearly 9 months ago. I really don't know where I am with them.
I went over 3 months without one, then out of the blue I had a full on period for 3 days. This was about a week and a half back, then less than a week later I got some more light bleeding that only lasted a day, then I wake up this morning (days later) with that horrible crampy feeling, then go to the toilet & there is blood everywhere.
Really fed up with this. I go months without anything, and then it is non stop bleeding!!

Hi
I'm on this too but only for the last month.
I was on a similar one (cant remember name) but had to change to cerazette as I kept forgettting to take the other one in the few hours "safe" window.
As yet my period hasn't shown up for the past two months.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with that.
From what I've read it sounds quite common though.
I'm expecting for similar pattern to happen to me.
Good luck and hopefully some people will post with some good advice.

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2008 09:51

Good luck with it, pellmell! The good thing about this pill is that it gives you a 12 hour window, but the all over the place bleeding is getting me down. You just don't know where you are.
Some lucky people don't get any periods at all on this pill though, so maybe you will be one of the lucky ones!

No one else experienced similar on this pill?

loopylou6 · 29/05/2008 20:08

I have been on this pill for about 3.5 years and i think this sounds normal

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2008 20:29

Does it? I have a full on crampy period today, less than a fortnight after the last one. Before that I had nothing for 3 months!!
Has yours settled now, or is it still all over the place?

I didnt bleed for a good year and half, then the other week i had the most horrendous period pains, i thought i must have a cyst or something as i never had pains this bad pre pill, but then a week later i started bleeding and still am now. TBH at first iwas like you, but after a year or so the bleeding stopped, and like i said before i dont see bleeding for years then it just starts again, it is a very hit and miss pill

Seona1973 · 29/05/2008 20:38

I have been on it for about 9/10 months and only had 1 period at the start and havent had one since

PinkChick · 29/05/2008 20:40

, i have just been ofered this by the doc at fam planning clinic tonight!..i refused even though he said it was fab for the reason your stating!!!

loopylou6 · 29/05/2008 20:40

Everyone responds dieffwrent to it though, please dont think becasue other people dont have periods then u shouldnt, thats really not the case, i have bled for up to 10 weeks before now after being on it for ages

emma1977 · 29/05/2008 21:04

Sounds normal- bleeding patterns on this type of pill are completely unpredictable but the majority will have nothing or occasional spotting. You sound unlucky.

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2008 21:29

It is definitely more than just spotting - it is full on bleeding! Since starting this pill 9 months back, I have had 3 month breaks between periods twice, but then will get another one or two short periods days after the last one stopped. Really does my head in as I just don't know when to expect it.

Imawurzel · 29/05/2008 21:38

I started on this in Feb and had a slight bleed yesterday and today so far, not a lot.
wondering how long it's going to last.

Pinkchampagne · 29/05/2008 21:46

Sounds like I am pretty unlucky compared to others then!

I have to go back for a pill check soon as I am starting to run low. I will speak to the doctor/nurse about all this when I go. Other than this, the pill suits me quite well, so I am a little wary of trying others.

Stick wiht it PC you will be suprised it will even itself out

Sugarmagnolia · 30/05/2008 07:23

I was on cerazette for a while and got a period every other week for 3 months. I switched pills after that.

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 07:56

I have woken up to quite a bit of blood again this morning. I am going to try to make an appt for a pill check today & talk this through because it is really beginning to drag me down.

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 08:12

I have an appointment with the family planning nurse at 4.15pm today.

OP posts:
Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 11:59

Did I see that someone on here was advised to take two tablets a day to calm down the bleeding?

OP posts:
PinkChick · 30/05/2008 12:55

LoupyLo^ i didnt take it off doc, i said id stick with the one im on and think about ti..glad i did now!

PinkChick · 30/05/2008 12:56

Sorry!, LoopyLou6 that was meant to say!

LaCerbiatta · 30/05/2008 13:16

I was on cerazette and my periods became more and more frequent until they were a week on a week off. The nurse told me to wait the 3 montsh but after 2 and a half I had enough and stopped. I think it just doesn't work for some people.

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 13:39

I thought mine had calmed down after my last long 3 month break, but they are all over the place again now! I have been on it 9 months, so surely they should have settled by now.

OP posts:
Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 17:44

Been to see nurse, and was basically told that this is something that can happen with this pill, and to see how I go over the next 6 months. If it gets me down too much, I can go back & see about changing, but wasn't sure any of my alternatives sounded much better, so I will stick with it for now & see what happens.
