For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:11

TooTicky · 28/05/2008 20:12

Oh NO !

MrsCarrot · 28/05/2008 20:15

just heard from Boco - it's awful, she has no bed or food and doesn't understand a thing AND IS SO UPSET. What a shitty thing.

foxinsocks · 28/05/2008 20:17

MIL looking after other dd (which we said was a relief I think that she knows she is OK and being looked after)

dh not being v helpful (did she tell you about the medication drama...god, I hope I'm not being indiscreet...if I am, tell me and I'll get this deleted)..and is starting to blank out a bit (prob from not taking his drugs) so is out of the equation basically

they all went back to the apartment to have dinner. I said 'I hope they are bringing you some' but it didn't seem like it as MIL needs to take care of other dd and they have no means of communicating as she is the only one with a mobile.

Sigh.

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:17

god
god
can we do anything
god

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:18

bloody bloody hell
you;re alright with that fox she did mention it
fgs MIL must realise Boco needs feeding?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 28/05/2008 20:18

she did talk about his prescription fiasco

foxinsocks · 28/05/2008 20:20

well you'd bloody well hope so wouldn't you? I hope she comes back later once other dd in bed? But Boco has no idea whether this will happen or not. They (ILs) sound a bit stressy.

foxinsocks · 28/05/2008 20:24

also, they didn't do their E111 (or whatever they are called now, is it EHIC?) so they are being charged. I'm sure the travel insurance should cover it though.

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:27

appalled for her
please do say if there is anything any of us might be able to do
seems unlikely

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 28/05/2008 20:30

she said our good wishes help

MIL not coming back until tomorrow but she brought her some apples earlier. Shame it wasn't something more sustaining.

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:35

apples? APPLES!
I am all for increasing your fruit intake but this is ridiculous
she should be gnawing on a hunk of something lardy and Eastern European

Oh God poor boco

Is there anything MN can do as a whole? Is there an MNer anywhere near her? Shall we send a food parcel? [fret]

foxinsocks · 28/05/2008 20:46

they have stabilised her

they are being a bit brutal (blood drawn without anaesthetic etc.) but it seems like they are competent

think it is a waiting game

when she is slightly better, then she can be moved and they can come home

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2008 20:46

it would be wonderful if we could do something
can we?

I know, apples in Poland, where you think everything is stews, dumplings and cakes.

Did she say when that might be to you, Fox?

sorry, am chasing my naughty children into bed grrr

they first told her a week

then said if they wanted to take her out before that, they'd have to sign a disclaimer because they thought she was too ill to be moved

so who knows

like avi said, pneumonia's a funny one. You can recover very quickly or it can drag on (think there's viral and bacterial from memory).

She is on antibs and steroids and nebulisers and the like. She's not eating though (but I guess you'd expect that).

They do sound like they know what they are doing. They've x-rayed and the like. When they move her for tests (like x-rays), they carry her because they don't have moving beds/cots!

TigerFeet · 28/05/2008 20:58

Should I put a shout out for any possible help on a new thread? [frets some more]

TigerFeet · 28/05/2008 20:59

dh says can she get an interpreter via her insurance?

MrsCarrot · 28/05/2008 21:04

a week? Blimey

yes, she said they had the medicines but there was no equipment or something, I didn't want to keep asking questions.

Poor poor them, lets hope its like you say, Avi and a quick recovery. She does suffer with respiratory things doensn't she.
