Seborrheic Keratosis miracle cure

Just posting this hack to benefit anyone who suffers from seborrheic keratosis which I have done for many years. I had a growth in my hairline which had been spreading, getting bumpier and darker for many years. A dermatologist I visited said it wasn’t concerning and if I got it removed it would have to be cut off and would be for aesthetic reasons only. Also said that it would likely grow back.
I recently googled it again as it was genuinely horrible and AI kindly told me that it can be treated very simply with diclofenac acid and should be gone in a month. This is the active ingredient in voltarol. I’ve been applying it every evening for 3 weeks- and in the morning when I remember - lo and behold, my hideous growth has all but disappeared.
hope this helps somebody else 🙏🏻

That's interesting. Just had a look for it on Amazon. What strength did you use, please?

Hermanfromguesswho · 14/06/2025 17:23

That is interesting. I have several if these. Would be interested to know the strength too

I read about this a few months ago, and as I have loads of them (I’m 78, so it’s an age thing) I tried it with my tube of Voltarol gel. I have a hideous large one near my collarbone, and a smaller one on my shoulder (and lots of others) but maybe I didn’t persevere long enough, as I didn’t notice much change. I will have to try again!

Congratulations on getting rid of yours, @knitpicker !

I googled it and the links all suggested that it does work but can take up to 2 months. Keep going with it, NanTheWiser!

knitpicker · 14/06/2025 18:45

i don’t have the tube near me at the moment but I think it was only about 1% strength- it was enough.
@NanTheWiser sorry it didn’t work for you. I’ll be honest, I had so little hope it was true that I didn’t take a before pic but I could post an ‘after’ one if anyone is interested?

Please do! My hideous one is very large and fleshy rather than crusty, and quite unsightly, so if I can get rid of it,I would be delighted. My Voltarol is double strength too, so I thought it might have some effect.

PlatinumBrunette · 14/06/2025 22:54

Wow, this is fascinating info! Thank you.
I checked and it says to use a 1% gel. The voltarol you can buy in the pharmacy is 2.5% so it’s easy enough to buy.

ETA I’ve been using salicylic acid and it’s very tricky to get in the right spot as most of mine are on my back.

knitpicker · 15/06/2025 10:59

Ok, here goes with photo. You can see clearly the area of the keratosis but believe me when I say it was very raised up/ bumpy and dark brown. The bumps are gone and the colour is faded - and that’s after three weeks or so. Im going to persevere

Looks like my image is ‘under review’ - clearly it’s still hideous 😂🫣

@knitpicker thanks! That looks like a great result! I’ve started the Voltarol again, and will give it another go.

RentalWoesNotFun · 15/06/2025 12:30

That’s so helpful thanks! I never thought to use that!

Aprilrainagainagain · 15/06/2025 12:30

Interesting. Thanks OP.

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 15/06/2025 12:34

This is hard to believe but I'm nevertheless going to give it a try, thanks!

TaupeMember · 15/06/2025 12:38

Thankyou! Will try

SoManyTshirts · 15/06/2025 12:44

I have mine frozen off (cryotherapy) - it’s not expensive. The lady I go to doesn’t do facial keratosis though.

Same here, she charges about £50

Saysayonara · 15/06/2025 13:02

Thank you OP, that is really interesting. I have several on my back/shoulders so I will try it on one I can reach. I hadn't bothered getting them removed professionally as I know they can grow back, but I will give this a try. I'd be very happy if they faded to the stage yours is now at.

slowlydecaying · 15/06/2025 13:11

i have an awful one on my nipple, my local private hospital wanted to charge £1600 to remove it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Musicaltheatremum · 15/06/2025 13:12

We used to prescribe solareze which was (about)3% diclofenac gel for these lesions. I think it's actually for multiple lesions and 5FU gel is used for single lesions. At least that's what our local prescribing formulary has on it. So it's fine to use as long as you're happy with the diagnosis.

Musicaltheatremum · 15/06/2025 13:19

And I'm tired whilst travelling!! It's aktinic keratoses I'm talking about but will work for the seborrhoeic ones too. In fact might try it on my skin tags!

Kamek · 16/06/2025 10:32

HELIOCARE 360° AK Fluid SPF100+ has got rid of 3 seborrheic keratosis and has almost got rid of 1 actinic keratosis I've got in about 2.5 weeks of daily use. It's more expensive than voltarol but just wanted to say it really does work well

knitpicker · 16/06/2025 15:24

Thanks @Kamek , is it available over the counter?

OP posts:
Kamek · 16/06/2025 15:34

@knitpicker yes it's available in several places. I get it on Amazon, it's a bit cheaper on there

TeachMeSomething · 16/06/2025 15:45

Are you in the UK @Kamek? I had a quick look on Amazon.co.uk but could only see SPF 50.
