Seborrheic Keratosis miracle cure

knitpicker · 14/06/2025 17:00

Just posting this hack to benefit anyone who suffers from seborrheic keratosis which I have done for many years. I had a growth in my hairline which had been spreading, getting bumpier and darker for many years. A dermatologist I visited said it wasn’t concerning and if I got it removed it would have to be cut off and would be for aesthetic reasons only. Also said that it would likely grow back.
I recently googled it again as it was genuinely horrible and AI kindly told me that it can be treated very simply with diclofenac acid and should be gone in a month. This is the active ingredient in voltarol. I’ve been applying it every evening for 3 weeks- and in the morning when I remember - lo and behold, my hideous growth has all but disappeared.
hope this helps somebody else 🙏🏻

Are you in the UK @Kamek? I had a quick look on Amazon.co.uk but could only see SPF 50.

Hi! Yes I'm in the UK. Just had a look on Amazon and there are a few different sellers, but this is the manufacturer's website link to the product I use

I have mine frozen off (cryotherapy) - it’s not expensive. The lady I go to doesn’t do facial keratosis though.

@SoManyTshirts what's her profession? I've been quoted horrendous sums. I have several (not on face)

I’m 48 and have got lots of these now on my body - my DM (unhelpfully maybe) said yes that’s what happened to her when she reached this sort of age.

They are all small and dotted about like large freckles or small, flatter moles. Do you think this could help or is it more for one off, large areas?

I do a lot of exercise and I get them where my gym clothing rubs against my body, so I get them around my waist and where my sports bras rub on my back. I'm wondering if fabrics like polyester - which contain a lot of micro-plastics are to blame for it.

HELIOCARE 360° AK Fluid SPF100+ has got rid of 3 seborrheic keratosis and has almost got rid of 1 actinic keratosis I've got in about 2.5 weeks of daily use. It's more expensive than voltarol but just wanted to say it really does work well

I’ve just ordered some of this. It’s on discount at Look Fantastic at the moment.

what were yours like, Kamek? I have some rough patches on my face that have been there for years!

Hi! I went to the GP about mine because they were like pink new raised moles about 3mm ish diameter. I wanted to check they weren't cancerous. I was told they were the seborrheic keratoses. The Actinic keratosis I've got which is nearly gone since using the heliocare was a larger rough feeling brown patch, about the size of a 5p near my temple. The SK have all gone now. I did have one near my eyebrow years ago which I accidentally rid of with a retinol cream!

Netty909 · 16/06/2025 20:46

Thanks for the good advice. I had one on my face removed by electrolysis. My beauty therapist says they are hereditary. I've got some on my torso now and tried Vaseline Darks spot rescue which did get rid of the scaliness but you can still see the dark patch. They are so annoying as I keep getting more of them!

TheDaringPanda · 16/06/2025 20:59

This all sounds very helpful! May I ask about the method and timing of application please? Just rub the gel and go about the day's business, or apply before sleep, or leave exposed/cover with clothes, or apply and clean after five minutes etc? Thanks

yourtodolist · 16/06/2025 21:24

Very useful, thank you!

Blodyneighbour · 16/06/2025 21:30

Could you also use voltarol gel?

NanTheWiser · 16/06/2025 21:52

Yes, the Voltarol gel is diclofenac acid, as the OP wrote. Which is what I’m using (again).

That’s interesting - I only really started exercising a few years ago which is possibly when they started appearing.

LoafofSellotape · 16/06/2025 22:41

I treated mine with Diclofenic too, amazing isn't it?!

Persephoknee · 17/06/2025 00:16

@Kamek , Thankyou for sharing, one of my rough patches is on my temple! Fingers crossed I get a good result, congratulations on yours!

DH had one removed by a woman who does botox and the like
I think it was £65 for 2 sessions but it only needed one
She recommended using this on the scar and on any more to almost stop them getting to the crusty stage (he has a lot which look like pale moles currently whereas the one he had removed looked like a big coco pop)

The ones that look like pale moles are what dh's dermatologist called wisdom bumps! He used salicylic acid on it every day for 3 weeks and it disappeared.

mechanicalpencil · 17/06/2025 07:49

that interesting OP.
I used apple cider vinegar on one once 3x a day, it fell off within 2 weeks.
Haven’t had the same results with others though so might try Voltatol.

TeachMeSomething · 17/06/2025 10:36

Forgot to say... I've had some success with one of these skin tag/mole remover pens. I've only ever used it on level 3 so it took a few weeks to remove them but you can go up to level 9 if you're feeling brave. Only problem is - you can't use them on your own back!

It won't let me copy and paste the full (and very long) URL so if you do an amazon search on this, you should get there:

CHRERNA SkinTag Remover Pen, Mole Removal-Kit with 9 Strength Levels &Replaceable Accessories, Plasma Pen for Verruca, Freckle, Age Spots,Nevus,Wart

I had to have a photo taken at the hospital and it was reviewed by a Dermatologist, I got a letter saying this was what it was, it is completely white so that surprised me, no offer to get it removed, it is larger and now completely white and hard, urrrggh

He used a Clearasil spot cream with it in it.
