Seborrheic Keratosis miracle cure

Just posting this hack to benefit anyone who suffers from seborrheic keratosis which I have done for many years. I had a growth in my hairline which had been spreading, getting bumpier and darker for many years. A dermatologist I visited said it wasn’t concerning and if I got it removed it would have to be cut off and would be for aesthetic reasons only. Also said that it would likely grow back.
I recently googled it again as it was genuinely horrible and AI kindly told me that it can be treated very simply with diclofenac acid and should be gone in a month. This is the active ingredient in voltarol. I’ve been applying it every evening for 3 weeks- and in the morning when I remember - lo and behold, my hideous growth has all but disappeared.
hope this helps somebody else 🙏🏻

He used a Clearasil spot cream with it in it.

Or you can use Bazooka gel

Just adding: I've used Bazooka gel in the past. It stings for a couple of minutes (nothing terrible but you're aware that you've applied it) and then dries white, so if you're using it in a place that's visible, you'd probably only use it at night. It is effective though. The next day, the dried white gel just peels off.

This article says dicofenac gel is used to treat actinic keratoses.

These are areas of the skin which have been damaged by exposure to the sun.

Are you sure that isn’t what you have?

I read on MN perhaps a month ago that the stronger diclofenac gel is used to treat - and now I can’t remember what it was exactly, some skin growth, not seborrheic keratoses. I googled it, found a relevant per-reviewed report, and thought it might describe something which was growing on my forehead. Unfortunately it can’t have been the right thing as the gel has had no effect on it.

I’ll try it on my sebhorreic keratoses, which are in areas which virtually never see the sun.

Persephoknee · 17/06/2025 14:58

Actinic = rough, scaly, sun damage, may itch. A lot of us have on our temples.

sebhorreic = waxy, raised, not related to sun damage, may resemble warts

Does this look like Seborrheic keratosis?

Looks like a big mole, if it's new or changed you should get it checked.

CompanyOfThieves · 10/04/2026 14:10

Did anyone who tried this have any success? @Sparticle @Blodyneighbour @NanTheWiser

mechanicalpencil · 15/04/2026 12:44

Hello @CompanyOfThieves
I am trying this, on Day 6, no changes so far but the OP said it takes one month so still hopeful!

CompanyOfThieves · 22/04/2026 07:47

@mechanicalpencil thanks for replying. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and it has changed, although I'm having to feel the difference rather than see it as it's in my scalp!

It feels smoother and some if the dry bits have flaked off (yuk)

Stick with it. Fingers crossed for us both

mechanicalpencil · 22/04/2026 09:20

@CompanyOfThieves
glad it’s working for you! I will stick with it then … I was on the verge of giving up.
i am using the Boots branded Diconflenac Diethylamine at 2.32% rather than the Voltarol itself…what are you using?

I have one on my forehead, might give it a go

edited to say I got it wrong! Mine is sebaceous hyperplasia if anyone has a cure for that

Edited

God yes!

God yes!

I ended up having mine frozen off

PlatinumBrunette · 22/04/2026 10:38

My mum’s huge and irritating scalp one disappeared quickly after using voltarol, she’s thrilled! She had it for decades.

Mine didn’t. I’m back on the bazooka which is working well on two, but not the other two. Perhaps it depends on their age or something?

BridgetJonesV2 · 22/04/2026 10:53

I had mine burnt off, at a local skin clinic. My daughter had had a mole removed there and recommended it. Mine was on my cheek just under my eye, so they were very careful and did it over 3 treatments (extremely painful I'd add) but once it had blackened then dropped off, it was all gone. Think it was called electrocautery?

I've got a couple more patches that once I'm brave enough I'll go and get removed too. It did cost around £350 but I'm glad I did it.

Just the low dose Voltarol one.

Sandinyourshoes · 22/04/2026 20:58

I tried it with voltarol 2.32% for a few weeks, 2-4 times per day, mostly overnight but daytime as well sometimes. I had a skin coloured plaque like lesion, about the size of little fingernail, on top of my forehead near but not under the hairline, which had been there many years, I think it was a seborrheic keratosis. Luckily it was on a place where the voltarol could be left on for hours at a time and not continually washed off. anyway it has disappeared for whatever reason, completely flat now. I think I felt bits of it disintegrating in the shower. And I still have nearly the whole tube of voltarol left.

Sebaceous hyperplasia - I recently had some of these treated. I had a large one which hasn't completely gone away- i was told it might need further treatment as it had been there for years.

Basically the best treatment is diathermy. Insert a small electrolysis needle and kind of melt the sebum, and then dry it out. Then the pore should be able to function properly afterwards. Some can refill with sebum (as did mine, so I am keeping an eye on it).

downtime is minimal - my first one. the test patch, was crusty for a few days and then just fell off. I had about 10 done on my second visit. Not painful, just a little 'flick'.

teaandabun · 23/04/2026 11:59

I’m definitely going to give it a try…. really glad to have found this thread.

Oh wow, Moose, thanks. Did you just go to a beauty clinic or …?

WiseMoose · 24/04/2026 12:06

yes - a small clinic which does only diathermy - electrolysis basically. Also treats thread veins skin tags etc.
she was very knowledgeable and in fact an ex- nurse in dermatology prior to training up.

Was this in london? If so, could you share location? Love to get mine done by a trusted recommendation!

justasking111 · 27/04/2026 12:55

Do you mean voltarol as in the ibuprofen family for sore muscles etc

No - in Yorkshire :)

just look for a diathermy clinic and see if they offer skin treatments

Gangstamummy · 02/05/2026 11:51

Right, I saved this thread the other day as I have a large seborrheic keratosis (confirmed by GP) just under my hairline. I have dark hair so it isn’t super visible - GP advice was it wasn’t dangerous and there was nothing they could do so live with it basically.
I’m excited to think there might be some hope - and it’s Saturday so I finally have some time to think about doing something. So is it the Voltarol gel for bad backs and what percentage (PPs have said 1% and the more usual 2.32%)? It would have to be at night as my hair is going to get gunky but I am up for anything!
