For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Are you stifling a yawn there Franny??

zippitippitoes · 20/05/2008 18:09

i am not ignoring posting of fruit and veg

ds just rang and asked if i would like to go for a celebratpory drink at 8

Fullmoonfiend · 20/05/2008 18:10

Yay! You must be very proud Zippi...

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 18:11

i was just bitter and jealous tbh FMF

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 20/05/2008 18:12

well there was the small matter of the 5 day residential driving thing when ds was 17 fiasco lol

but i am delighted they both passed just one left to go..my big girl

it would have been rather shitty if one had passed and the other hadnt

omg did you realise you still have to worry about jealousy and fairness when they are 20 and 23

zippitippitoes · 20/05/2008 18:13

or 38 or however old franny is

Boco · 20/05/2008 18:13

Zippi, how long did it take them? Did they both pass first time? I don't understand how anyone manages to learn, pass, afford it - it all seems like a huge big mountain if impossibility.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 18:16

ahem

36

and you pretended to be surprised

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 20/05/2008 18:19

well i dont think they took tests before

ds took the theory test before when he did his driving course thing but he wasnt allowed to do the test so that was money

his dad gave him 500 quid for lessons well to all of them actuallu for this round

and he has 165 quid left apparentl;y to take me out for a drink with

2 weeks ago he said he had a crap lesson and he was useless

dd2 has 65 quid left of hers and she had lessons previously at 17 or something or 19 i cant remember but never took a test

dd1 took a test before when she was 18 but failed she is now doing hers in a few weeks i think and she is 24

you can do it boco i think you can almost have too much waiting time tho and you start getting worse again

zippitippitoes · 20/05/2008 18:20

Hello

Have skimmed. No idea what is going one tho.

OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 19:12

Me neither UR and I've been here all day.

Just been to Pizza Hut with 6 children. Can see mid week non-drinking going right out the window.

I had to shout. In the street. At the oldest 2. Bad.

However, they seemed suitably taken aback by my raised vice. Normally I let my friend be shouty mummy.

I mean voice not vice but I like the typo.

UnderRated · 20/05/2008 19:18

Pizza hut and children sounds stressful to me.

I have been graffiting with melted chocolate. It was very therapeutic.

OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 19:20

I thought you said 'grafting' with chocolate. That would be good.

UnderRated · 20/05/2008 19:28

Well, yes, I was grafting. In the work sense. The problem is I have no hot water and piping bags full of now solid chocolate.

pinkspottywellies · 20/05/2008 19:55

Oh my goodness. Too much to read. Can't keep up!

Franny I have posted a lentil moussaka recipe on mumsnet somewhere - I'm sure you could veggify it. And slorm cheese all over the top

Has anyone thought further on the Franny's town meet-up? Anyone feeling up to it any time soon? Or is it all off for now?

When are you thinking of for the South West meet up TooT? I might be passing soon visiting my mum, or are you thinking summer time?

I have eaten (not whole portions) dried pineapple, dates, raisins (in posh museli from Race for Life goodie bag - loads of sugar and salt in but very nice) satsuma, spring onion, bolognese containing mushroom, pepper, onion, tomato, rhubarb. Gosh 10 varieties, so not as bad as I thought but definitely not 10 portions.

I'm not eating very well at all lately. I feel fraudulent. Perhaps the title should have been 'We eat fruit. It is nice. (except pink. but she sometimes runs and does yoga)'

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 20:02

I am not now wholly convinced about a meet in my town personally
some days I feel so sort of ugh I think it would be a bit scary knowing people were coming a long way and having to try and be interesting at them
but maybe I am being a bit shit

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 20/05/2008 20:06

You don't have to be interesting. I was hoping we could all just loll in the sunshine eating cake fruit and no-one would have to entertain each other!

But don't want to make you worry about something unnecessarily. Perhaps next year when the wee one is not so wee!

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 20:09

maybe we could just arrange something last minute? or does that not work
I like the idea but am feeling stressed about having anything planned tbh
people keep asking things like "now just say whether you will be able to do this or not - we won't mind if you aren't up to it"
the thing is I have NO IDEA
I might be feeling up for nothing or I might have a new baby by then
it's all so unknown

I just ate some banoffee pie and was going to try to pass it off as fruit
it was fairly minging

MrsC I'm not going to reveal any more about your lost present just in case it all comes good and we can arrange something similar. It could still turn out to be a nice surprise, maybe

OP posts:
OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 20:11

my bottom burps smell like really bad meaty curry. I haven't eaten meat for weeks.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2008 20:12

have you just given up smoking or drinking Osmosis?
it's your intestinal flora sorting themselves out
smells like bovril type of thing

UnderRated · 20/05/2008 20:13

Osmosis. Anyone would think this is the type of thread where we discuss bowel movements

OsmosisBanana · 20/05/2008 20:17

[parp]

RustyBear · 20/05/2008 20:20

You lot are insidious - I first started looking on these threads because of the titles (and because it's the only place to catch lully these days) and now, where I used to toast a sandwich for lunch at work or maybe get a pasty from the corner shop, for the last five days I have been chopping fruit & veg & putting it in a box - either with cheese or chicken.

Toiday I had chicken, fresh pineapple, red pepper and raspberries - tomorrow will be Red Leicester, apricots & the rest of the pepper & pineapple.

Where will it end?
