For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Bero it's good you are talking, I hope you have a good day. Good luck with the house hunting

Fullmoonfiend · 24/05/2008 13:08

oh I am a devil-babysitter
My little charge is too upset to have her customary 2 hour nap, her mum is attatchment parenty and the poor wee thing (although she knows us very very well) keeps crying for mama.
So I have succocmbed to the evils of Teletubbies - she has calmed down in 3 minutes - where half an hour of rocking and singing has failed.
But they are a TV-free house. I'm going to hell for this one, aren't I?

(However, she does recognise them as teletubbies, so I think mama must have a sly video somewhere...)

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 13:12

hello Bero yes I said I would be grateful for the clothes if they really are large, but I doubted they would be big enough, as am pretty wide

house with garden sounds interesting plan...

FMF hope things settle down there I think if left with tiny child who is not used to be left you just do the best you can, don't you?

I have mislaid my debit card somewhere [fear]

Dd1 has gone to a friend's house they have a HUGE garden with multiple trees and views and on the way we saw a peacock on the road It crouched in a bush as we passed with its tail in full view - reminded me of a small child hiding

TooTicky · 24/05/2008 14:51

Fmf, why do you have a tellytubbies video?

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:44

some salad for lunch - lots of avocado, some lettuce, cuc, carrot, tomato
and gnocchi with pesto

have been sorting out cupboards and boxes of stuff - well dp has - he brings them to me and shows me and I tell him what to do with the stuff
still have not actually got ANY baby stuff ready but as I recall clearing out the art cupboards and half the garage is in some way a preparation for getting the baby stuff out of the loft
I think so anyway
I am slightly confused tbh and have forgotten

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:46

would you think it was completely insane to leave a load of art and craft stuff where a 5 year old could get it?
I mean with the idea being that he could go and help himself to some extent? (with some supervision but not much adult involvement)
This is my home ed plan for the next year - just leave the stuff where he can get it while I am feeding or whatever
not v impressive is it

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:46

someone asked me if he has holidays from home ed when it is the school holidays
oh dear
where do you start

We have that Franny, and have had for a long time. But then you've seen the sort of shambolic bunch we are now

Is all on shelves they can reach, so long as ONLY done at little table. TBH dd the only crafter, and painter, and she is pretty awful and sticks the wrong things together, and ties up all kinds with glue, and makes things with sunglasses and scatters glitter and glue and paint and cardboard about the place.

But truth is, I REALLY don't care that much. So yes, I think completely acceptable and good. Perhaps just establish ground rules first? Though my ground rules aren't listened to - she made an 'installation' in her bedroom with sunglasses, sellotape, paint and string last week . . .

ahundredtimes · 24/05/2008 15:51

All balanced on a giant pannatone box. And then she made a thing in my room with loo paper, a towel and four empty frames and string the other night.

Actually, don't listen to me. I have no control over her.

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:54

I don't mind (well can put up with) disorder
temporary disorder anyway
I have a problem with paint and glue and glitter all over the shop
ds is very careful actually (years of training, poor child)
what if visiting children ravage the art cupboard while I am upstairs hiding changing a nappy?

I have done very good work on curtain rails this afternoon. Have de-rusted old ones out the cellar, and switched brackets. So now dh has to put them up, and then the volleyball player can have a curtain. It will be just ONE curtain, but I think it'll go across the whole window.

her room is starting look like a weird bric a brac room. I hope she won't mind.

She'll probably move in and unpack lots of gleaming chrome lights, and pink slippers and clean things.

We are going to see Indiana Jones this afternoon. Well me and ds's are.

ahundredtimes · 24/05/2008 15:55

Hmm. It it's in a cupboard, put one those hooks things on. Also tell visiting child it can't? Or something?

Odds are it won't happen. Most children expect things to be taken out in my experience. Or they say very wide-eyed 'am I allowed that clay?' or whatever.

Whilst dd is pressing small stones into the clay and then putting it in the Aga. I like other people's children.

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:56

have fun at IJ
gosh the curtain rail sounds like quite a job
derusting and all, that's quite 50s make do and mend, good stuff
most people would chuck it and get another (me included probably )

did you see the Lego indiana jones thing? I laughed, but then it got stuck on a car and they were too woossy to get it going again

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 15:58

we do have one visitor who likes to Make Things
so I get an afternoon of 'where is the stapler? where is the sellotape? where are the buttons?'
while I am trying to skulk on MN
I think she must not be allowed to discover The Craft Cupboard

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 24/05/2008 15:58

No, I didn't. What was it?

Yes, I am very Make Do. Oh yes. (Also known as lazy and last minute).

Right. Must rush to movie.

Good luck with sorting.

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2008 16:00

We have big open access art cupboard in the dining room. It's full of two boxes of cutting out scraps, glitter, glue, paper, string, scissors, paint etc - they don't seem to be able to do it at the table though, only on the floor, but it's a wooden floor so is ok. But it does mean between the floorboards are a bit glittery. They can do what they want but have to ask if it's paint as dd2 can't paint on paper she has to paint herself.

Am going to a bbq at friends this evening, it's a with children one, will be nice.
