GP thinks I’m crazy!

Ok so I’ve been having symptoms for years now and been tested for all kinds of things via bloods, stool and urine samples. The only thing that came back positive was low vitD which I’ve been taking daily for months and still don’t feel any better. I’ve got a tugging type sensation in my lower tummy either side of my hips as well as the following symptoms; Headache
Nausea
Severe back/ hip pain
Rash on face & under breast & chest & arm, back of knees on hips and eyes
Bowl issues
Dry sore bloodshot eyes with rash on eyelids
Phlegm
Depression
Anxiety
Fast/ irregular heartbeat
heavy, irregular periods 2 x per month
Pain under right side ribs
Heavy legs
Mouth ulcers
Bruise easily
Dry nose with scabs
Dry sore lips
Random body twitches
Toenails peeling off
Brittle fingernails
Dry hair
Twitch under right eye
Acotites- swollen tummy
Fatigue
Aching joints
I’m at my whits end! The fatigue is the worst. I’ve had to give up work. I wake up exhausted and I’m struggling to carry out daily tasks. Even climbing the stairs hurts! I’ve asked for a gyno referral but apart from that I think they have ruled out everything else. I’m 37 so poss peri menapause but the test they did came back negative for that too! Does anyone else have these symptoms and what was your diagnosis? Thanks

my suggestion would be to book an appointment with a naturopath, I found it really helpful to look at issues from a more holistic perspective.

Your thread title is rather misleading.... your GP obviously doesn't think you're crazy as you have been thoroughly investigated.

Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis by exclusion and usually only made by specialist teams such as rheumatology once all other conditions have been excluded. It's largely true that there isn't any treatment, just management by lifestyle changes.

Regarding vitamin injections they're rarely needed if your gut is normal as oral intake at the right dose for the right length of time will improve levels. Places offering B12 injections are largely a money making enterprise based off making people (usually women) believe they are deficient in something. All they do is give you very expensive urine.

"I have a nurse prescriber" - she's risking her PIN if she prescribes you something "as a mate" and not in any sort of clinical capacity.

I do laugh at all these posts that say "ask for this test" and "demand an MRI/scan/blood test" or whatever. Your GP is not a Woolworths pic'n'mix counter. They're an experienced HCP with years of training who are constrained by secondary care referral criteria, must follow clinical guidance and should work with you in partnership to explore your health issues.

Well they did say “it’s in your head” so that made me feel like they think I’m crazy. They are my thoughts/ feelings so not misleading at all!

my nurse prescribes to me in a clinical capacity she is not a friend. I didn’t know her until I started my aesthetics. I don’t socialise with her. Purely professional and she would not risk her pin by prescribing off licence but thanks for your concern

Sounds like Leaky Gut to me which is the root of most autoimmune conditions. What has your diet been like? Have you had any antibiotics? You need to try to heal the gut by eliminating things which cause inflammation before gradually reintroducing

@BexAubs20 Hi OP, I have two questions -

What is your haemoglobin HbA1c level?

Have you ever been tested for Lyme Disease?

Zilla1 · 28/03/2025 13:43

That sounds difficult for you, OP.

Does your mouth feel dry?

Not related to the above question but what and how much do you drink?

Good luck?

Rosequartz7 · 28/03/2025 13:45

Long covid/post viral M.E (if you've had covid or flu etc, of course!)

Imbusytodaysorry · 28/03/2025 13:55

@BexAubs20 i had a lot of your symptoms and no Gp’s listened to me I was curled up in a ball for 5 months with the pain and exhaustion .
i couldn’t stand the mattress on my bones. .
when I was eventually testted for vit d mine were normal too . I had been taking tablets then injections over a 6 month period.
It was the injections that got my life back . They are a game changer
tablets take forever to get into your system.

yes your levels are normal but the nhs levels are always bare minimum.

Can you find a nurse who does asthetics they can get you vit d tablets

Yes both negative 😫I’ve got the weight gain too so I was convinced thyroid issue but apparently not. They did a stool sample and ruled out chrones, celiac and bowl cancer

I'd want to see the following to say it is not thyroid problems:

TSH
T4
T3
Hashimoto's test (antibodies)

Too many women are told their thyroid is "normal" when they have Hashimoto's and need their TSH to be very, very low.

You could also have a problem converting from T4 to T3 but that is less likely.

DreamyAmberHiker · 28/03/2025 13:58

Please ask them to look at sarcoidosis. Very, very hard to diagnose and won’t always show in bloods. It can show in a CT or xray depending on how it’s affecting you or can be confirmed via biopsy. It covers lots of your symptoms and impacts women in your age range.

Have you had your sodium levels checked recently? I was feeling like death a couple of years back, then I saw the GP who ran a battery of tests and came up with low sodium and a severe vitamin d deficiency. The low sodium (hyponatremia) was caused by two prescription meds with a diuretic effect. I came off one of them and switched to something else for my BP (the other was an anti-epilepsy med and harder to come off.) For the low vitamin d, caused by, as far as I understand it by living in a chilly Atlantic archipelago (Britain) with minimal exposure to the sun, I was given a loading dose for a number of weeks, then told to maintain it with a high dose supplement. Once both of those issues had been addressed, I started to feel as if I belonged in the land of the living. But something I found out is that neither of these things have an objective minimum level, which, if you stay above it, will keep you well. My sodium hadn't crashed disastrously, but I felt rotten. If yours hasn't been checked lately, it might be a good idea to ask for it to be done.

Imbusytodaysorry · 28/03/2025 14:05

@BexAubs20 slimmed through some more of the posts . You can do injections yourself id do them. This could have been me writing your post .
I was convinced it was rheumatoid arthritis. .
they put me on hrt ( had no symptoms )
I paid to see private rheumatologist they were just as bad. Diagnosed fibromyalgia (I fought that diagnoses ) it’s not fibromyalgia.
Then they tooke the diagnoses back when the pain from head to toe stopped . ( this only stopped after vit d injections .
yes they are the vitamin your body can’t disperse itself and can end up with fatty build up but I think at this stage your that low (like I was ) the benefits are higher than the risk . Just don’t go too crazy. .

i still wonder if low vit d is a symptom of something else. .
Due to exhaustion I questioned M E I was told by dr a lot of her ME patients are treated for low vit d

i had a small flair up recently I’ve had bloods done and I’ve to go next week to discuss
I too wonder lupus. .
i get lumps in my groin and that feeling in my stomach I think it may be glands I get them in my neck and throat too .

@BexAubs20 I said I was irritated not offended.
I had ascites due to stage 4 ovarian cancer and you’re equating it with a fat tunmy

I’m not sure, but one of your posts seems to say you’re a nurse prescriber. I’m surprised at your lack of empathy, your lack of basic medical knowledge and your ability to write good English.

I will now disengage.

I would look at the reference ranges again. I feel like utter shit with ferritin below 30 and I keep my tsh at 1 to feel well.

I have dyslexia and I didn’t not say I am a nurse prescriber so maybe re read those. Yes think it’s best you don’t engage as you have nothing nice to say. Bye

@BexAubs20

It sounds worrying that you are having two heavy periods each month.

Are you in a position to make an appointment to see a gynaecologist privately?

Which part of the UK do you live in?

That’s what I thought it was called. How hard is that to understand?! I have all the symptoms of it but I’ve not had an official diagnosis. I’ve made that quite clear

Apologies for your confusion but it does say “symptoms” and I have clearly stated I have no diagnosis hence the post

3 stone gained since I was 18 I’m now 37. For reference I’m 5ft 2inc and 10stone 7lbs. Classed as slightly “overweight” on the BMI calculator. Admittedly could do with loosing weight but the fact I struggle to move about the house dosent make it easy
