Ok so I’ve been having symptoms for years now and been tested for all kinds of things via bloods, stool and urine samples. The only thing that came back positive was low vitD which I’ve been taking daily for months and still don’t feel any better. I’ve got a tugging type sensation in my lower tummy either side of my hips as well as the following symptoms; Headache
Nausea
Severe back/ hip pain
Rash on face & under breast & chest & arm, back of knees on hips and eyes
Bowl issues
Dry sore bloodshot eyes with rash on eyelids
Phlegm
Depression
Anxiety
Fast/ irregular heartbeat
heavy, irregular periods 2 x per month
Pain under right side ribs
Heavy legs
Mouth ulcers
Bruise easily
Dry nose with scabs
Dry sore lips
Random body twitches
Toenails peeling off
Brittle fingernails
Dry hair
Twitch under right eye
Acotites- swollen tummy
Fatigue
Aching joints
I’m at my whits end! The fatigue is the worst. I’ve had to give up work. I wake up exhausted and I’m struggling to carry out daily tasks. Even climbing the stairs hurts! I’ve asked for a gyno referral but apart from that I think they have ruled out everything else. I’m 37 so poss peri menapause but the test they did came back negative for that too! Does anyone else have these symptoms and what was your diagnosis? Thanks

I’ve had sores in the corners of my mouth too forgot about that!

I think I commented already but when you said about sores in the corner of your mouth too- I'd definitely make sure you're folic acid has been checked, I had this and lots of similar symptoms and my folic acid had been low for years without ever being checked, it was just my ferritin and vit b that were checked regularly.

It wouldn't explain everything but the difference I feel supplementing with folic acid is unbelievable I didn't quite realise how important it was.

Is there anything in your environment? Any possibility of hidden mold? It could explain some issues.

Edited

A few spots of black on my bathroom windowsills as the windows don’t open. House was built like this when I got it as the bathroom is an extension. I do clean it off with special spray though but do you think that could cause these symptoms? No one else in my family have symptoms

Have you had a test for gallstones, kidney stones?

I don’t think so

Can someone tell me by looking at my screenshots of test results if they have done the blood tests for celiac? I will check this with my Dr when they ring me this week. I’ve just had pasta for tea and my stomach is going crazy! I’ve re read the symptoms for celiac and convinced I have that - maybe even just a slight intolerance but I’m going to try and cut gluten out to see if that helps

Have you been tested for Lupus as sounds like me years ago..only when I went to a rheumatology app it all came together..

Try taking your symptoms as individual problems without connecting them to a definite illness, because many of them are common to everyone at some time in their lives - sores of one sort or another can be treated.

When you have sorted them out. the things that you are left with could give a clue as to the problem you have. I think all those small things that might not be a symptom of anything might be confusing the medical people.

Acotites is serious and has very pronounced symptoms. It could be IBS, which can be very serious, despite it being poopooed by some.

Sore eyes need bathing with optrex or similar. If after treating they are no better, have a referral to an eye specialist, or a visit to an optician, because the experts there can diagnose any disease of the eye.

A pulse over 100 is tachycardia. Google the symptoms.

You have left Back pain and joint problems. I recommend you see a chiropractor. They are extremely good with joints and backs, and they will also know if you have any underlying problems which are causing the pain. Though expensive, it is well worth you paying for a session. One appointment I had my nose was blocked and I couldn't breathe very well. I didn't realise that a chiropractor could cure that, and it wasn't the reason for my appointment. He had me face down with my nose in the little gap of the couch and then pulled my head towards him and moved it slightly before putting it back on my neck. It was immediate relief, unbelievable. Make an appointment to a recommended chiropractor. They release the air in joints. It isn't a gimmick. some pain is caused by nerves trapped in joints. They also massage.

My chiropractor and physiotherapists were my best friends when I needed them. Make a private appointment with a physio. They know what underlying causes there are with problems. Remember, a physician and surgeon can only do so much, and need a physio to help their patients mend.

If you consult them, you may fare better than going from one doctor to another, blood test after blood tests, which just make you exhausted.

Gall bladder trouble can also cause some of your symptoms. I copied and pasted this summary, but there is a whole lot more info on it. I am thinking of the right side pain you are having.

Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder, often caused by gallstones blocking the cystic duct, leading to bile buildup and inflammation. Symptoms include severe abdominal pain, especially in the upper right quadrant, and can range from acute to chronic.

An area the NHS would be wise to invest in if they are really going to start taking female health seriously...I'll not hold my breath as it took nearly a year after thyrotoxicosis to see the only endo in the area who signed me off because the meds worked and bloods "fine" despite my thryoid still being enlarged!

Gosh @Thisissuss is your thyroid still enlarged? Have they sent you for an ultrasound?

I hope you get more answers soon, it is awful to be very unwell and left in limbo :(

It is the right thing for you to do.

You are beginning to work your way through your symptoms and that is good. It will be a long haul with some things, but stick to it. I hope the posters on here can help you. I think perhaps seeing your replies you are already a bit less anxious than you were.

Only take medicines the doctor prescribes. It really is the best course for you than buying over the counter or online. It can help you sort out the symptoms and point to a diagnosis. Not even vits and minerals should be taken for a few weeks.

A pot of white petroleum jelly in the baby dept. supermarket isle costs less than £2 and will help a whole lot of problems. You can get cheap moisturizes for body skin. If you keep your skin moisturised, the nerves won't get trapped in the joints. Dry skin can act like shrinkwrap to small bones in hands and feet, and those problem areas can cause a whole lot of damage elsewhere.

If the right side pain is a gallbladder inflammation, you should cut out all pastry too, and some other things. Google the symptoms: NHS list symptoms too.

CapitanSandy · 31/03/2025 19:02

Don’t cut out gluten until you’ve been tested for coeliac disease. I think you have to be eating gluten for 6 weeks for the test to be accurate.

So as a person with three chronic illnesses, who had to give up work too, these are my thoughts.

very much sounds like fibromyalgia, M.E, Long covid or/and FND. A diagnosis won’t help but whatever you get please get it in writing to help you get any help you need.

I suggest you look at neurosymptons web site.

other ideas: sometimes you need to seperate things . So some of these things you can treat individually. ( if you have the energy)

Chronic illness is hideous, often side lined, general gps are really not plugged into treating it.

I would ask to be referred to a rheumatologist or neurologist or M E fibro long covid specialist in your area also a OT for ME/ long covid can help hugely . They do exist.

You will hate this advice! Stop doing anything. Treat yourself like you have flu , put yourself to bed and do nothing . Except drinks easy meals etc. do not push , do not exercise!
the new 2023/4 nice guidelines recognised that severe damage can be done by pushing and exercising if you have severe fatigue symptoms.

So I pushed and exercised ended up having a functional stroke in 2018 and am now often in a wheelchair. My brain just shut down said that’s enough and I collapsed no walking no talking no arm movements. I was in bed 6 months . Now some days I can do 300 steps some days 2000 a day . But everything is meticulously planned. I am just getting a tiny bit of life back due to accepting my disability.

can you see another gp in your practice?
One thing to know , you must be brave and ask for what you want, ask gp for referrals. “I would like a referral too ….” They are not mind readers and often will not offer as they are not sure where to start.

I could list your ailments and say do this that etc .
So hair nails get some nutri gummies from amazon they are amazing. Ferroglobin is a great supplement to take.
For bowel issues take 200 mg of peppermint tablets twice a day .
eye: get some good eye wetting drops from amazon .
Lips get a good lip balm not Vaseline .
get some magnesium capsules two a day at night I take “better vits”

for aches and fatigue. Give your body time to rest. A better you magnesium spray is excellent. Try meditainment a great guided meditation. Sleep, doze, use audible, pod casts etc, limit tv time as eyes get tired. Limit screen time, limit speech ( my hardest thing )

EMDR and CBT counselling are brilliant. They give you permission to get your feelings really out there and to moan, off load . Then your counsellor will give you small points to work on each time .

if it’s this sort of illness it takes a long while to notice any improvements. And the worse thing is you feel awful and guilty frustrated etc because it’s a chronic illness not acute.
you will loose friends and family who don’t understand , and have a much smaller group around you but they will be genuine .

lastly, so sorry this is so long and doom laden! Have you suffered any trauma in your life? Medical ? Physical? Mental ? This can be a reaction to suppressed traumas . Saying yes too much , putting others first always.

And if you think that sounds all very very expensive,
being ill is very very expensive.

sending love best wishes and gentle hugs . Please rest rest rest to give your body time to heal . It’s telling you something.

You are a strong, courageous woman. Thank you for sharing your story and advice. Wishing you all the very best on your journey forwards 🌸

I’ve had sores in the corners of my mouth too forgot about that!

I take vitamin B complex for that. I know it works because they go again after I take it. There is a vitamin B complex from H&B in the form of drops which go under the tongue. I don't take it all the time. I don't know what causes the sores either, but if I use something and they go, I don't bother to find out why.

Ladymuck2022 · 31/03/2025 20:07

OP have you been tested for diabetes? The bruise easily sticks out.

I’m surprised they haven’t fobbed you off with peri so that they can spend a decade blaming everything on that.

I have a fibroid again not taken seriously but that has caused some torment over the years. Just waiting to see if it dies in menopause whenever that will be.

I wonder if the NHS can afford to pay for the drugs of those with thyroid disease. You get all your meds free if you have that, and not just the thyroxine.

A bit tongue in cheek really.

I often wondered that when my GP kept sending bloods to the lab which came back nada. He sent me to London (I had insurance then) and my thyroid had pretty much had it, because I had to have quite a high dose at first. I also had carpal tunnel syndrome, which I knew nothing about, just that my hands didn't work. I was told that hypothyroid and CTS do connect sometimes.

Have you thought any more about consulting a chiropractor and/or physio? They know so much about the body generally.

I can only tell you that they really helped me. I know chiropractors don't always get a good write up over accidents and whiplash, but they are not as common as you might think, and on the whole have very good hands on experience with different aspects of medicine. Many, too. have their own clinics with xray and scans, even swimming pools.

Either therapist could advise you on your symptoms.
