Ok so I’ve been having symptoms for years now and been tested for all kinds of things via bloods, stool and urine samples. The only thing that came back positive was low vitD which I’ve been taking daily for months and still don’t feel any better. I’ve got a tugging type sensation in my lower tummy either side of my hips as well as the following symptoms; Headache
Nausea
Severe back/ hip pain
Rash on face & under breast & chest & arm, back of knees on hips and eyes
Bowl issues
Dry sore bloodshot eyes with rash on eyelids
Phlegm
Depression
Anxiety
Fast/ irregular heartbeat
heavy, irregular periods 2 x per month
Pain under right side ribs
Heavy legs
Mouth ulcers
Bruise easily
Dry nose with scabs
Dry sore lips
Random body twitches
Toenails peeling off
Brittle fingernails
Dry hair
Twitch under right eye
Acotites- swollen tummy
Fatigue
Aching joints
I’m at my whits end! The fatigue is the worst. I’ve had to give up work. I wake up exhausted and I’m struggling to carry out daily tasks. Even climbing the stairs hurts! I’ve asked for a gyno referral but apart from that I think they have ruled out everything else. I’m 37 so poss peri menapause but the test they did came back negative for that too! Does anyone else have these symptoms and what was your diagnosis? Thanks

Lupus or sjorens. Both autoimmune and notoriously hard to diagnose.

I was thinking of something along those lines too.

Thank you all for the comments I am going to go armed with these suggestions to my GP.

I know you’ve said they’ve checked for thyroid issues and all clear but have they checked for parathyroid I’ve recently been going through this was diagnosed with fibro at 32 now 39 I’m getting worse after my 2 nd pregnancy got referred to rheumatologist who checked bloods and pointed out my phosphate had been low for years he checked my PTH and it was high therefore hyperparathyroidism exactly the same issues as fibro! You need a few combined bloods to determine this phosphate, PTH, magnesium, calcium and vit D you need ALL of those in the same blood draw preferably fasting bloods in the morning. There’s and amazing group on FB that have helped so much if you search for hyperparathyroidism action UK the ladies know everything to help you battle to get tested as trust me it’s a battle! Thyroid tests easy but PTH they don’t bother doing?! But you must ensure they do all the above together to get a clear picture as there are different types you may have secondary as that’s driven by low Vit D. I’ve had to go private as the wait lists for an endocrinologist are so long x

Ellbro · 29/03/2025 11:32

Have you had any testing for autoimmune diseases? GP can request basic autoimmune testing. Some of your symptoms sound similar to me (I have lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and Dermatomyositis).

No scan as of yet

You don’t have ascites OP, what are you on about??! Seriously, you need to talk to someone about your health anxiety .. and your attitude, if this thread is anything to go by.

Anonforthis58 · 29/03/2025 12:02

Wibblywobs · 28/03/2025 17:57

Hi,
sounds terrible. Do they know whats causing your Ascites? Assuming they’ve scanned your liver with the rib issues and ascites?

She doesn’t have ascites … she changed her mind mid thread

Adenomyosis? It’s the intermittent swollen tummy with the twice monthly heavy bleeding plus the fatigue, odd bilateral pulling sensation in lower abdomen and aches/pains that made me think of if as a possibility. I had a friend who had similar issues and it took years, but it turned out to be adenomyosis

Supernova1908 · 29/03/2025 12:12

Have you considered urticarial vasculitis? It’s pretty rare but I have this (the non-hypocomplementemic type, affecting my skin only). The hyocomplementemic type affects more than just the skin and would fit some of the symptoms you describe. Depends if your skin rash is in the form of hives, as that’s what the UV rash typically manifests as. Diagnosed by a skin biopsy.

Agree. I started off feeling sympathetic as I also have multiple issues the GP can't seem to explain. It sucks, causes a lot of worry and can really bring a person down, which is possibly why OP has been so rude to some on this thread, but she lost my sympathy when she started with the rudeness and sarcasm. Especially given that some of those trying to help her have serious health issues of their own to contend with.

I’m genuinely shocked you think a couple of posts of irritation at people being shitty means the OP should just be ignored.

its not that though - OP has been rude and at times nasty to posters who are trying to help 🤷‍♀️ She lost a lot of help and advice due to her attitude towards others.

Exactly this. As some have been deleted, I guess other posters don’t know their content now so won’t understand our comments.

Very interested in this - I had hyperthyroidism and they never found the cause - was on carbimazole and it went "back to normal" although it is, after a year slowly creeping back into subclinical range. I waited 9 months to see endo, who said my thyroid was still enlarged, then put on the notes I must have had some virus 9 months ago when I was hyperthyroid... Now my tongue is swollen with ulcers at the side and I am starting to get the insomnia, anxiety and sudden hunger again but the "health practitioner" told me I have to see the dentist! I will go back and ask them to check the parathyroid levels now, thank you!

Her deleted post was vile. She has continued to be rude, dismissive and sarcastic towards others. She said she had a very serious condition, yet later oh just a swollen tummy. She can inject and knows all about vitamins - yet later she thanks a poster for her vitamin knowledge 😵‍💫 she changes and contradicts 🤷‍♀️ lost my sympathy and help long ago 🤷‍♀️

BexAubs20 · 29/03/2025 13:28

I will not be engaging with any negative comments. It’s Mother’s Day weekend and I have better things to spend my time/ energy on. Thank you for all those people who have given advice on books/ diets/ how to interpret my results/ vitamins/ things to mention to GP it’s really helpful as I didn’t know a lot of this info and that’s what I came here for. So thank you for taking the time to share this advice.

some people on MN are truly nasty and I think this must be their source of entertainment (very sad really) I’ve said I have a learning difficulty and likely got it wrong about the aacitites. I’ve said this several times! This was just a list I made for myself and my GP which I copied and pasted here. To be told I should die and leave my children orphaned over a simple error is just evil tbh.

fyi “Ascites is a condition where excess fluid builds up in the abdomen, between the abdominal organs and the lining of the abdomen” i had not read into it any more than that.

you really need to rule out any gynea issues - I had a lot of those symptoms and had two massive benign ovarian tumours (and also low vitamin d and b12 - I now inject my own b12)

Thanks I have an appointment next week at the doctors. Fingers crossed it’s nothing as serious as yours. Hope your well now x

join the fb page I’m on the author has written a book and along with surgeons on there advising they can point you in the right direction of decent endos depending on where you are in the country they are so knowledgeable! I have normocalcemic hyperparathyroidism but not had any scans yet my endo has me trying a low vit D for 6 weeks to see what effect it has as I was at 55 which is low end. I’m not sure I’m going to get anywhere and may need to seek another Endo/surgeon as my type is a grey area typically.

What has the GP said about the fact that you have 2 heavy periods each month, OP? I really think that sounds dreadful.

And if you read her explanations they were perfectly reasonable. She was mistaken. She acknowledged that. And then was harangued for it. She snapped after several “goes’ from others.

it’s disingenuous of you to claim there were multiple posts MN deleted.

There was one. Singular. And after RTFT some had clearly enjoyed having a poke.

over-all OP seems to have been pretty polite.

People really do enjoy having a go on MN.

Thank you so much for this! Honestly some people are very nasty! I would delete the post, but it’s got a lot of attention. It’s even been shared on MN Facebook page so I don’t want to delete it as there’s some really good advice here not just for myself, but for others too. So I’ll just ignore the nasty people.

Nothing much really, but they have booked me an appointment with a dental GP next week. I need a scan really I think just to rule any gynaecological issues out x
