What is this illness?? Anyone else had this?

Has anyone else had this awful virus going around??
I’ve never had anything like it. I’ve had Covid twice and it was nothing like this.
started 9 days ago with a cough, sore throat and feeling wishy washy, then the next day I couldn’t even lift my head off the pillow.
since then it’s been.

• drenching night sweats
• tinnitus
• the most horrendous phlegm, lumpy and green!
• a cough that sounds like I’ve smoked cigs all my life, never have!
• Sinus pain
• foggy headed
• dizzyness
• swollen glands
• lack of taste and smell (not like Covid when it’s completely gone)

I sometimes feel like I’m getting better but then the next day feel like I’ve been hit by a bus again.
I’ve never known it phlegm like it.
this cough is relentless, it’s uncontrollable and I wet myself each time.

I’ve had all sorts of bugs in the past but this has been going on 9 days and I just don’t feel like I’m moving forward. Is their some sort of horrendous strain of flu going round??

I’ve been to the pharmacist today who has given me some over the counter decongestant and I will be going to docs if it’s not gone in the next week.

my family have all had it, kids have had raging temps and DP has had similar symptoms but is better now!

not looking for pity, just wondering if anyone’s had similar and found out what it was ?

Well I’ve been for an xray this morning and it appears that I have had a pneumonia but it’s resolving.
i did get antibiotics for a ‘chest infection’ but no one mentioned pneumonia! No wonder it’s taken me so long to get better - I’m going into my 5th week now.

Have you worked the rest of the time? Only 3 days off! I don’t know how you’ve done it!

I had two weeks off when the illness first kicked in l, went back to work for two weeks where I was like a limp rag and I’ve been signed off another week this week as my GP was not happy that I was getting better - hence the xray.

Badly. I’ve done it badly. I’ve worked badly and I’ve probably done myself far more damage in long and short term than if I’d just had a bit of time off. The GP wanted to sign me off for a month “initially”. But I have a family depending on me and I don’t qualify for sick leave or any type of sick pay. A month of zero pay could take years to recover from too, and I know we are lucky not to have to pay for doctors visits but I’ve had 9 prescription charges this month aswell

It does seem to linger doesn’t it, the pain in my chest is awful, right through to my back, and all the way down my arm. I can’t lift my shoulder more than halfway and I can’t take more than a half a breath. I have to go back for more X-rays too. Limp rag sounds about right. Wheezing limp rag of sadness. Pneumonia is a bitch but nobody told me it’s be this painful. Much sympathy to you!

Oh you poor thing, my heart goes out to you. Try and rest wherever you can, easier said than done with a family to look after as well as working though.

Yes, exactly the same! Had last week off work, I initially tried working from home but even trying to sit up and look at a laptop was impossible. Went back to work yesterday, but still felt pretty bad and the cough is lingering.

I went to the pharmacist over the weekend in hope of a magical solution, she was sympathetic and said she was seeing lots of people with similar symptoms but rest, fluids and time was her only advice 😫

On week 4. Had heard other people with this earlier in winter and thought we’d managed to miss it. Keeps going and coming back. Anyone got any insight into how long it actually takes to go? Miserable

woken up this morning, sinus's killing and my throat hurts! what on earth !!!!

white spots now on tonsils, i'm on penicillin, how can this happen??😥I think the only thing that's (nearly) gone is my cough.

@Lockdownbaby2021 I had tonsillitis when I was ill, it just seemed never ending .

just want to feel like my normal healthy self again and be the energetic mum i usually am.
feeling really down tonight as i'm just going hot and cold again and my throat is like a razor. how long roughly did everyone take to feel like normal again???

oh and my eyes were stuck together this morning and i think my period is due tomorrow!! fun times 😫

Honestly I'm just this week feeling human I was really ill for two weeks fatigued last week and better from Sunday. Just rest as much as you can don't try and push through.

Thank you last time I felt that bad is when I had covid during the pandemic.

I had this started just after new year with a sore throat then the cough started and so much mucus. Felt wiped out and same would feel a little better for a day or so then would hit me again. Eventually made a GP appointment and gave me a sinus spray and did clear up I don’t think it was anything to do with the spray tbh but it took a good 6-8 weeks to shake. All kids had it too and took them a while to be right. Horrible nasty thing

I went down with this on Boxing Day. It dragged on and on. The cough has just about gone now. My hair also started coming out in handfuls. I still get really tired and fall asleep in the chair like a Nan most evenings.

i've been on penicillin for my sinus infection and this has started since being on them.
do i go back to the GP and ask for some different antibiotics or do we think this is viral and ride it out ??

I think pus means bacterial? I’d be going back to the GP with that throat tbh

I have had exactly this and tested positive for Covid , hope ur feeling better now 🙏

im on day 3 of my second lot of penicillin. to be fair its done a good job as this afternoon i've noticed my white patch has gone and i dont feel like im swallowing glass on one side! hope it doesn't return once i stop them. and i hope this is the end of my illnesses for a while! i am drained

Did you test for Covid ?, like I said earlier I had all these symptoms and currently also on day 9 , I did a test on day 2 and it was a red line straight away for Covid
Such a horrible virus 😞 hope ur feeling better now .
